Guest sanyo Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Is the WWE racist? I really think so now. They made fun of blacks with Booker and all that Teddy Long stuff. They make fun of Hispanics on Smackdown with the JBL comments every week. They made fun of South Asians with the whole stupid Tiger Singh gimmick a few years ago. God knows the Tatanka gimmick was such an insult to Natives. And now with the Japanese with this gimmick. Is WWE racist? I think McMahon is and I just think HHH is too. My opinon. Besides The Rock and Eddie there hasn't been any other minority world champ in that company. And I never see or hear HHH talk about any minority in a positive light in my life...even in the bodybuilding world he never ever talks about bodybuilders that aren't white. Oh this is based on Hirohito recent cheap gimmick. Is WWE racist? Insentitive to minorities? Unless you have a really really good reason, I think this company should be exploited. Guest sanyo Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Pedro Morales, The Iron Shiek, Yokozuna. Yeah but two of them were heels. Yes they were champs but not in a positive light...they were made to be these foreign monster champs.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 What the hell is South Asian, I never heard that term? And yes WWE is racist. JBL working as a member of La Migra and hunting wetbacks is just tasteless, I tell you what.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Yes, WWF has always been considered the most racist of the major U.S. federations.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I quote Jared Hawkins here from an e-mail. "Here's the thing though. When they were roping in some casual fans, it was because the product was fresh and different. Now it's passe, but Vince McMahon thinks "It worked five years ago, let's keep pushing the envelope." The result is dwindling attendance, dwindling TV ratings, and PPV buyrates that are dropping faster than Torrie Wilson's panties at a Playboy photo shoot. So the time is finally right to push wrestling as wrestling, which would be fresh and different after five years of this soap opera garbage, but what happens? Ratings don't double within about two weeks, so we go back to seeing stuff so bad it wouldn't air on Passions. (Passions is a very bad American soap opera, much like Eastenders in the UK. I'm sure you have your own equivalent.) I'm just getting tired of Vince McMahon thanking me for 20 years of support by giving the very thing I try to avoid: Stupid storylines full of so many logic flaws that even Star Trek fans have decided it's not worth pinpointing them anymore." What I'm basically trying to get at is WWE pushing the envelope. I think that it's more an issue of that than racism. The pushing of the envelope is mainly attributed to JBD's Mexico promo, and not to anything done with African Americans recently. No matter what, Vince will keep pushing the envelope, whether it works or not, and using what can be construed as racism is an easy target. Some excellent points there (the e-mail). Guest sanyo Report post Posted April 26, 2004 What the hell is South Asian, I never heard that term? Where do you live man? If its Texas (i guessed by the love of your Spurs) then I don't think you have. Its a Canadian term for people of Indian backgrounds. I guess in Texas you just say East Indian which I guess is OK. I think the combination of JBL who sucks and then making racist remarks is what is turning off people anyways. I can only guess Smackdown has a huge Hispanic audience and hurling insults at them isn't going to get them to watch the product even with Eddie as champ. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Saba Simba - when the WWE wasn't trying to push the envelope - wasn't racist? They're stupid and they're ignorant, it makes for a very offensive combination.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I don't think the whole company or even all of the booking team, but Vince? I'd say most definitely, and likely a few others (JR probably). Triple H going along with that Booker T angle, regardless of who thought of it, doesn't put him in a positive light either. Lawler and Heenan have both made comments that could be considered racist, although it usually wasn't too excessive (except for Lawler's bullshit harping on HHH's comments) and was coming from a heel's mouth. Yeah, J.R. wouldn't surprise me. With the Booker T/Trips angle, there really wasn't much other material to go with, especially heading into WrestleMania. Ironically, it was a pretty shitty feud. Guest sanyo Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I have heard Asian Minor (Middle East), Asian Major, and the Orient (Island countries) but never South Asia. Wow dude you must be stuck back in time like the WWE. Who the hell uses any of those terms...I haven't even heard of Asian Major or Minor. What the heck is that? I guess its Texan for something (no offence). I think the Orient is an offensive term now(anyone correct me) but the right term is Asians (that includes Japan, China, etc.). South Asians include like Brian said India going east. The Middle East is the Middle East. What the heck is Asian Major? Never heard of it here in Toronto. Guest sanyo Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I don't think JR is racist. He seems like a good guy and puts all wrestlers, regardless of colour in positive light. HHH is racist for sure! I can bet a million bucks he is. If you saw the Booker feud the words coming out of his mouth seemed natural to him. If you watch him wrestle black wrestlers he always seems uncomfortable...even doing promos there is just something about him that you just go he hates being in the ring with a black man. Vince is or none of this talk would be happening. Linda who knows. I don't think Shane is...isn't he married to a Hispanic? Lawler is like in between. I don't know. Doesn't help that he makes fun of all the black wrestlers and think they are criminals or punks.

Guest Brian Report post Posted April 26, 2004 There are eleven countries that are recognized as part of SouthEast Asia, and I think four or five as South. Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, East Timor, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore are part of SouthEast Asia. To the North is East Asia. To the West, ending in India is South Asia.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 You know I don't think its so much that the WWE is racist due to the storylines. You'd think if Booker T had a problem with the storyline heading into Wrestlemania 19 he's quit WWE or maybe sue the WWE like he did with WCW, if he couldn't get it changed, same goes with Teddy Long. And as far as Hirohitro or whatever his name is isn't so bad since the WWE has been doing it since the 70's through now along with other indy promotions who have something similar. But if you see it the way you do, then I guess Cheif Jay Strongbow is pretty racist too. You know if you don't like what you see, there is a button on your remote and tv, actually a few buttons that could help you. There called Channel up/down and the power button. You know the button that says on/off.
