Can't get enough of the Dead? Get your wallets out. Dark Horizons is saying that director Zack Snyder has got the go ahead from the powers that be for an additional 25 minutes of footage for the upcoming DVD form of his DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. More ass kicking, more sprinting zombies, more flesh eating babies? Time will tell. It's also to be noted that one of the special features on the disc will be a video diary of Andy, the gun shop owner, which should give fans a completely different look at the situation from the other side of the street. The unofficial street date for the disc is July 26th.

As for the original (and still superior) DAWN, Creature Corner is reporting via DVD Maniacs, that stars Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross, David Emge, and Scott Reiniger will be reunited for a trip down memory lane commentary on Anchor Bay's huge upcoming super special edition that has been rumored to contain anywhere from 2 to 4 discs. One of those discs may also include Roy Frumkes' Document of the Dead. Release is planned for sometime in September. Don't get this confused with the version that was sent out back in March, that was just to hold you over (and trick you into buying two separate copies) until this, the ultimate version of the film, is released.

The video diary of the gun shop owner sounds really cool.

WHOO!! July 26th!! I loved the remake and can't wait for the disk. Sounds like good extras.

And I'll pick up the multipe disk set of the original. Always wanted to see Document of the Dead

From what my Horror Hound book says it's mostly just interviews with Romero and other behind the scenes stuff. Done in 1990, my book gives it 3 1/2 out of 4.

Great book by the way

Well FIIIIIIIIIIIINALLY, the 3-disc set that I have been harping on for over two years now as rumors have surfaced and floated around forever about this. Wow, imagine if it actually gets released.

I wouldn't mind owning the remake either, it was a very entertaining movie.

FYI for anyone in TORONTO.

HMV is giving away 'plaqued' posters [that is, wood-mounted posters] to the first 25 people who show up to purchase the new DVD at the Yonge & Dundas location - 12:01am October 25th.
