Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I figured that this was where it was most relevant, but if a mod wants to move it feel free. Anyway, the topic is pretty much self-explanatory. I ask because I'm going to the Fledgling Films festival in St. Johnsbury this weekend and am wondering just what it'll encompass. I myself have never been to one, so I'm hoping it's a good enough time, but if somebody else has a horror story to share, I'll think twice about it.
ArkhamGlobe 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I've been to several, as there happens to be an annual international film festival where I live. Overall I've always had a great time, though the festival you linked to seems to be a different kind of festival, I still think you should go as it should at the very least be an interesting experience. Guest Banders Kennany Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I always wanted to know....how are they set up? Like where do they take place and how do they show the movies (one after the other, a few at the same time, etc.)? I've always been interested to know. Last Indepedent film festival I went to, they had some people from the Lucas industrial light and magic company come down and talk about CGI, showed clips of how they did stuff. Pretty cool stuff. ArkhamGlobe 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 As NoCalMike said, it depends on the festival. I'll use the two local festivals in my town as examples. First there's a smaller horror movie festival, where mostly it's just movie after movie in the same theater, with a 30-45 min intermission between films, with the possible seminar or whatever. The whole thing takes place over three days. Then there's the Umeå International Film Festival, which is set up over a whole week with movies in multiple theaters running simultaneously with seminars, workshop, a short film competition and all kinds of stuff going on on the side. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Trash Film Orgy This is the one I go to a bunch. It is usually four times a year, and this summer starting in June, it will be running for 6 weeks straight(weekends). It is usually, but not exclusive to, independent & international horror flicks. I went to a couple last year, the halloween edition they showed NOTLD and Zombi 3(Zombie), and then the BIGGEST CROWD I have ever seen at one was for the Friday the 13th double feature one, where they showed parts 1 & 2. They usually give you a discount on tickets if you come in some form of costume too~!
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 well I just found out that the next TFO on June 26th will be showing Return of the Living Dead on a brand new print of the 1985 classic as it's first feature, LOL. That should be quite the movie for a liquored up, raucious crowd of horror geeks. Did I mention that heckling the flicks is encouraged at the TFO?
