The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Ok, so like, I turned my PC on today, and literally half the icons that were on my desktop are gone. It was all junk I never use anyway, but I'm curious if it's just something that XP is programmed to do, or what-have-you. Also, there's a bunch of icons on my desktop that I have no idea where they came from, nor what they are. They appear to be logs of Javascript, or something...and one is just called "~". Do these kinds of things need to be on my desktop, or can I feel reasonably safe in deleting them?
the max 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 XP deletes the ones that are inactive for a certain period of time, although I think it asks you before it deletes stuff.

The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2004 Oh, ok, that's a cool feature...someone else must have run it, so I didn't know what happened. Thanks.
