Oh shit, oh shit

Does WWE own the CHV footages, those VHS tapes? I was just wondering since I don't know how the Coliseum / WWF relationship worked out and that CHV is now gone.

They own the raw footage (obviously) and the CHV cuts for each show, since Coliseum was just a distributor for them. It was mildly cheaper for the WWE to use an outside company to distribute their videos, but after the contract lapsed, the WWE built their own multi-million dollar editing/production studio and began to do everything themselves (making more in the process).

A quick note on those "amazing" 80's teams...

The Brainbusters

Good team. Were only there for a year, tho.

The Rockers

The Rockers pretty much sucked in the ring and told some lame "stories" until 1990. Still my favorite team ever, tho.:)

Demolition

AWFUL in the ring. AWFUL. Cool look, although a ripoff of the Road Warriors.

The Powers of Pain

Total Road Warriors takeoff. Shitty workers, too.

The Orient Express

Sato/Tanka were terrible. Kato/Tanaka were watchable. Barely.

The Rougeaus

Decent, if only a lame comedy heel team.

The British Bulldogs

Great team. Once Kid was too hurt tho, not very entertaining.

The Twin Towers

You're joking right. That's like saying "Big Show & A-Train" are a "great team of the 2000's".

The Killer Bees

Decent, but not a top tier/serious team.

The Bushwhackers

Hahahahaha.

The Bolsheviks

Hahahahaha.

The Dream Team

Ah...the modern day equivalent to Rico/Haas, in terms of workrate. Just there.

The Young Stallions

Hahahahahahaha.

The Conquistadores

Ah...no.

The Hart Foundation

Great team.

SO ROUGHLY...we've got about 3 great teams in the 1980's that you've listed. Odd that you put teams like Bushwackers, Bees, and such on there and leave off Windham/Rotunda, Honky/Valentine, Strike Force, Can-Ams, etc. But this just proves...

THE 1980's HAS A GREAT NUMBER OF COLORFUL CHARACTERS.

THEY HAD FEW ACTUAL GOOD TEAMS.

Good? Nope. Great? That's more like it.

The Rockers

The Rockers pretty much sucked in the ring and told some lame "stories" until 1990. Still my favorite team ever, tho.

Sucked in the ring? I think not. They were better in-ring than most of the other teams in this era.

Demolition

AWFUL in the ring. AWFUL. Cool look, although a ripoff of the Road Warriors.

I wouldn't say AWFUL. BAD yes, but that wasn't their strength. They had mega heat......

The Powers of Pain

Total Road Warriors takeoff. Shitty workers, too.

Agreed. Too bad they didn't capitalize and make them super heels.

The Orient Express

Sato/Tanka were terrible. Kato/Tanaka were watchable. Barely.

Sato/Tanaka sucks. Kato/Tanaka = Bad Company(Paul Diamond/Tanaka) were VERY solid.

The Rougeaus

Decent, if only a lame comedy heel team.

Not the greatest team, but they shit all over their current day version(La Resistance)

The British Bulldogs

Great team. Once Kid was too hurt tho, not very entertaining.

Greatest team of all time. At least the best team the WWF ever had.

The Twin Towers

You're joking right. That's like saying "Big Show & A-Train" are a "great team of the 2000's".

Don't lie, you LOVED Akeem.

The Killer Bees

Decent, but not a top tier/serious team.

But that Brunzel had a hell of a dropkick. :headbang:

The Bushwhackers

Hahahahaha.

I know, I had that same reaction to them many times over. They were great brawlers as The Sheepherders though.

The Bolsheviks

Hahahahaha.

I'm not touching this one.

The Dream Team

Ah...the modern day equivalent to Rico/Haas, in terms of workrate. Just there.

Terrible in there with bad teams, watchable with the good ones.

The Young Stallions

Hahahahahahaha.

Honestly they weren't terrible.

The Conquistadores

Ah...no.

Jobbers. Plain and Simple.

The Hart Foundation

Great team.

One of the best, I agree.

Honestly though, people have forgotten some of the best teams(which you did name there) in Windham/Rotundo, Strike Force(got there theme was AWFUL though), and the Can-Am's as well. If there is a better division though, I'd like to see it(not counting AJPW in the late 80's early 90's because that is the best EVER).

How many of these DVDs are they planning on releasing anyway?

I'm hoping for every single PPV ever, even the garbage ones.

Arn & Tully is what all other teams aspired to be in the late 80s.

Demolition, much like the LOD before them, didn't need to be good workers. They made money because fans wanted to see them beat people up, period.

The Rougeaus were about 10 years too early. They would have mega heat right now. Could wrestle and talk and the fans HATED them. Pure gold. Had they not been surrounded by much larger teams, they easily could have worn the gold in 89.

Knock the Orient Express all you want but when they weren't being squashed by LOD, they were pulling off GREAT matches on a nightly basis against the Rockers for over a year. Rumble 91, nuff said.

Maybe I'm just jaded because I've seen / have just about every PPV from this era ... but I don't see the big deal about these old shows coming out on DVD - ESPECIALLY if there's no new footage added on.

Give me something I haven't seen a billion times over.

DVD=wave of the future.

The reason mainly is the fact all the videos were pulled from the site over Christmas due to the Pandas (which led to a big sale, which I was much grateful for)...so now they can re-realease, or whatever the ruling is, I guess they want to get them back out on the market to make up what loses they had from pulling them.

Which is good for people like me, who are missing odd PPV's such as Rumble '92 and KOTR 93, and can no longer get the videos easily.

DH/Deon- I'm not sure of the ruling, but I think it's something to do with the old logo being 'ok' now, so I assume they'll go up to when they had the new logo for these DVD's. And then they might edit off the logos and stuff for the Attitude shows maybe.

The old logo has always been okay, it's just the scratch logo that is blurred.

RickyB, thank you for actually taking the time to reply to my points, as opposed to other peoples "SHUT UP! YOU'RE A MORON!!" replys. You made same good points, some I agree with and some I still disagree with. However, like you said, we should just agree to disagree on some points.
