Ladder Matches

Recommended Posts

After watching the Bloodbath DVD with my friend today we thought that it would be awesome if they made a DVD with just Ladder Matches on it. After a little talking we decided that these ladder matchs should without a doubt be on there:

Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (Wrestlemania X)

Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (Summer Slam 1995)

Triple H vs. The Rock (Summer Slam 1998)

The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian (No Mercy 1999)

The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz (Wrestlemania 2000)

Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit (Royal Rumble 2001) (Best ladder match EVER in my opinion)

Jeff Hardy vs. Rob Van Damm (Summer Slam 2001)

Edge vs. Chtristian (No Mercy 2001)

Eddie Gurrero vs. Rob Van Dam (Raw 2002) (I think it was 2002 if not 2003)

Jeff Hardy vs. The Undertaker (Raw 2003)

I think all of those matches on one DVD would be awesome but what other matches do you think should be added?

Bret Hart vs HBK, Smack Em Whack Em

As much as that should be on that dvd, if it was made, it most likely wouldn't be put on there. WWE doesn't even acknowledge it. I was very surprised that match even made it to VHS.

All damn good matches there, but Hardy/'Taker was during Taker's reign in 2002 - 01/07/02, to be more exact (that's the 1st of July).

RVD / Christian (RAW 2003)

That's quite possibly the best ladder match I've seen. That had me and my friends cringing on the edge of our seats.

Taker vs. Jeff Hardy was in 2002? Geez I was almost sure it was in 2003, amazing how time flies isnt it? Thanks for fixing that up for me.

How sad is it when TNA has had more ladder matches in a year than WWE has in 3, and none of the TNA ones match up at all?

Something should be said about Styles/Raven, though. Decent match, hampered only by interference and an overall clash of styles (since AJ is a high-flyer usually, and Raven is a pure brawler).

I've wanted to see one of the Whipwreck-Sandman ladder matches (from '95) ever since I read this:

The Sandman/Whipwreck ladder series was truly impressive. The Sandman was the best I've seen him and for some reason Mikey was eternally a non-entity. He would do all these things that would be impressive, but the presence of Sandman totally overshadowed him; Mikey became another person being beaten to death by Sandman who somehow won the third match. I think that is the allure of Sandman. his ring presence is undeniably, you can't look away. I saw all three and they smoke the Micheals/Ramone series like a cheap cigar. Sandman's leg drop off from the rafters, the insane plancha by Sandman on to the ladder as it was draped over the security rail and the great interveiws by Steve Austin before every match were all amazing, a true pinnacle for that type of match.
