Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 10, 2004 The Reds today asked for unconditional release waivers on RHP Jimmy Haynes. I'm sorry. But this DESERVES it's own thread. Who gets the call? My guess... Matt Belisle (2.77 ERA, 6 GS, 27K/5BB)! I am sooo happy.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted May 10, 2004 what about Herr Claussen!
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Claussen could be called up, but he struggled his last outing. Though he has 38K/12 BB in 31 innings. It could be either one of them. Edit: Looks like it's gonna be Mike Matthews. Good choice. Belisle and Claussen gets more development time, and Matthews gives us our 2nd lefty (finally) in the pen. Heard on the radio he was told to pack his bags in Louisville (so he's heading to San Diego to join the Reds). In Louisville: 11 Games, 2.13 ERA, 12K/4 BB - 12 Innings. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 How Jimmy Haynes survived in the league this long is really unexplainable.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 The Kevin Mitchell rule. In order to have a major league career, you really only need a good season every five years. The effects are currently visable in Darin Erstad.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I still remember the year Mitchell had for the Reds in 1994. Everything he hit was hard. The reds had a damn good team that year, and had a chance of winning the world series, if there had been one.
Styles 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Godspeed Jimmy, You never got your chance with the O's as one of our top (overated) pitching prospects, so you went elsewhere and even were a team ace for a while. Never mind that this was on a depleted staff and you sucked, but still. Fret not though, the Devil Rays eternally need pitching help, and take waivers on anyone who's breathing and can throw a ball. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 He could join the Rockies, who have seen fit so far to give haven to Shawn Estes and Kevin Jarvis. Its like pitchers' purgatory.
