Nighthawk Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Well, IDRM, it may be and it may not be. ICP are huge wrestling fans, and drop as many references to hardcore wrestling as they do old-school. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was a reference to Boris Malenko. It wouldn't surprise me, no. It was that A) Their references are usually blatantly overt, and B) They had an agenda with their album titles, it didn't seem like the place to make a throw away wrestling reference. But I dunno. "I Don't Care" was a good idea for a song, but I didn't like the hook. "Entire world is falling"? What are they, 12 years old?
Guest Dids Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 I know some folks like them- so I'll refrain from pointing out that calling ICP music is suspect. But they're almost not fair to mention in this conversation. That's like being shocked that Randy Savage made some references to dropping an elbow.
Nighthawk Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 True, seeing as they actually have worked as wrestlers (probably better wrestlers than rappers if it came down to it). As far as liking them or not, I liked them when I was of the age to like them, but it's kind of embarrassing now. I do get into the Detroit rap scene, so they're on my radar by association. They're easily some of the worst to come out of there, and I listen to the obscure guys nobody's heard of too. I'll give them this though; they sure know how to market themselves.
