Bruce Almighty 2

Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Spyglass are in talks to mount a Bruce Almighty sequel based on the Bobby Florsheim/Josh Stolberg script "The Passion of the Ark," reports Variety.

Talks are just getting under way, but the plan is to court Jim Carrey to reprise and to have Tom Shadyac return as director. Carrey is said to have left the door open for another installment after the first proved to be the biggest-grossing hit of his career.

Screenwriter Steve Oedekerk will be enlisted to refit "Ark" into a sequel. The "Ark" script could work with another actor, who'd play a widowed writer who's chosen by God to prepare for the second great flood.

Universal is expected to run the production and will likely distribute domestically.

Hellboy II

Revolution Studios, following up on the success and critical acclaim of its comic book action adventure film Hellboy, has committed to making Hellboy II, it was announced today by Revolution Studios partner Todd Garner.

Hellboy writer and director Guillermo del Toro and producers Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment and Lloyd Levin are all returning for the new film. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola will develop the new story with del Toro.

Hellboy, which was released on April 2nd, 2004, debuted at number one at the box office with an impressive $23.2 million and is on track to surpass $60 million domestically. Hellboy also debuted in first place in all five international markets where it has already opened. The film will roll out in Europe beginning with France in August.

"'Hellboy' was a tremendously successful and unique project," said Revolution Studios' Garner. "It was Guillermo's vision that brought the film to the marketplace, and we are delighted to be working with him again."

According to Revolution Studios partner Tom Sherak, "We are excited to be making the sequel to 'Hellboy' and to be bringing back the amazing creative team that made it so memorable. The film was made for a relatively low cost and has performed magnificently here in the U.S., and we look forward to it continuing its successful run internationally."

"I'm thrilled to be with Guillermo on the sequel," said Gordon. "He did an amazing job in bringing 'Hellboy' to the screen and we're looking forward to building this franchise with Revolution Studios."

Hellboy was based on Mike Mignola's popular Dark Horse Entertainment series of the same name and starred Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, John Hurt and Jeffrey Tambor. Patrick Palmer served as executive producer and Mike Mignola served as co-executive producer.

How can there be a sequel to Bruce Almighty?

He learns his lesson at the end...what exactly would the premise, plot, or for that matter...the point be?

I didn't even read the article. It's just pointless for them to make another Bruce Almighty without Jim Carrey and now that I went back to read it they said they are interested in bringing back Carrey. What, he is gonna help some new guy handle his god powers?

And the joke never gets old, does it?

We all make mistakes, except mistakes and all I'm gonna be rich biatch.

So why don't we all just save ourselves the trouble and think of something new.

why do the WORST Carey movie get sequels?

I want a Truman Show 2. Or Eternal 2.

Can't wait for Hellboy 2. They should make a Bubba Ho-Tep-like movie with Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman. Excuse me, I have to go do some writing :)

Well, I was gonna add the honk honk, but I figured no one would get it.

Apparently this didn't work either. I was doing the end of Chapelle Show, when it shows his production company.

I'm riiiich biatch... honk honk.

I forgot a comma, I'm terribly sorry. And if you're referring to the word gonna, we're on a message board, dude. I'm not writing a doctoral thesis.

Or were you just misunderstanding what I was trying to say, which seems like the more likely scenario.

Ok then.

1) You got me. Congratulations. I still have no idea what you're talking about.

2) There's nothing supposed about it, chief. There's 8 schools and Cornell is one of them.

3) One incorrect sentence does not mean I have a very basic knowledge of English.

Everyone is always trying to put themselves over on me, yet everyone thinks I'm the one who always brings it up. This thread is gonna get locked because Tyler had to stroke his ego and take it way off course.

You won't catch me dead in Bruce 2.

The way the advertised BA, it seemed like a regular Jim Carrey comedy. So I go to see it with a bunch of my friends and we are laughing at first because it is funny. Then all of a sudden, it turns into a romantic comedy. I lean over to my friend Mark and say "Dude, this is a romantic comedy. What the fuck? I hate these things." And he says "Yeah I know, I could have saved this to see with a chick."

I really hate romantic comedies, so this will be just another romantic comedy promoted not like one. If they marketed it as a romantic comedy, it wouldn't have made as much money.

I'd just like to say that I believe Carrey has said he will never do a sequel to any of his films (He did Ace Ventura 2 because he was contractually bound to), so I doubt he will be in a Bruce Almighty sequel.

If the script is right, the crew, cast, and the director return, he'll do it.
