The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 UFC I Denver, Colorado Hosted by Stan and Larry Stan: Well, hello there, eh? This is Stan. Here's my buddy Larry. Larry: Howdy there, foreigners. Stan: Let's get to it, shall we? Tsuyoshi Kosaka (0-0) vs. Marco Ruas (0-0) Stan: Well, ya' see Lar, Kosaki's a versatile striker who's known for conditioning. Larry: Yap, yap. And Ruas is a good striker who's also got one hairy chest. Stan: Yap, yap. Tale of the Tape Stan: Ruas is 6'1" and 210 pounds while the other guy is 5'11" and 225. Larry: That's why my pick is Kosaka. Stan: Why? Larry: Weight advantage. Stan: Ah. I gotcha. The Bout Marco Ruas with a big right hand that misses. They continue to throw missed punches. At 3:38 left, Kosaka tries to take him down. Doesn't work. So they pace around some more. Marco throws punches that are blocked. Ruas hits some punches, and they pace around. Ruas tries to take him down, but Kosaka reverses, and Ruas reverses again! Ruas in the mount position, but he gets rolled into a leg stretch with 0:02 left. Ruas taps! Larry: Let's go to the ring for the decision. Stan: And the winner via submission in 4:58 R1, Tsuyoshi Kosaka (1-0)! Larry: Ouch. Stan: Your thoughts, Larry? Larry: Couldn't they have waited two more seconds so I could have seen the hot Round 2 babe? Stan: Yap, it's a shame. UFC Lightheavyweight Title Semifinals: Tito Ortiz (0-0) vs. Guy Mezger (0-0) Larry: Tito. Isn't that one of the Jackson Five? Stan: Only you would ask that, Lar. And the answer: yes. Tale of the Tape Stan: So Tito is 6'2 and 199 lbs while Mezger is 6'1, 199 lbs. Larry: If only Mezger had have drank more milk as a child, maybe the stats would be the same. Stan: Yap, yap. Larry: The distinct height advantage makes Tito Larry's pick. TM. Stan: You trademarked that 15 minutes in? Larry: Yap, now dontcha think about stealing that there. The Bout Guy slams him down and goes into mounted position. Tito rolls through and goes into mounted position and Guy's legs are hooked around his waist. Tito just SLAMS him in the face. Guy unwraps the legs and Tito just pulverizes him. Guy doesn't even attempt a comeback as Tito just kills him at 3:20 left. Larry: Who won? I blinked. Stan: Yah, it was bad, eh. Winner is Tito Ortiz (1-0) at 2:40 R1. UFC Heavyweight Title Semifinals: Dan Severn (0-0) vs. Mark Kerr (0-0) Larry: How about those Flames, eh? Stan: Stanley Cup written all over them, I tellsya. Here comes "The Beast". Tale of the Tape Stan: Dan is a inch taller while Mark's five pounds thicker in the hide. Larry: Yap, okay. Stan: Yap. Well, Dan Severn is rockin the ol' mustache, so he's Larry's pick. Larry: How did you know that's what I was gonna say. Stan: Yap, great minds think alike. The Bout Dan charges and is instantly hammered by Mark Kerr. But Dan takes him down into mounted position and hits twice until Kerr rolls through. Severn on top now and he wrenches the arm and delivers hit after hit. He goes for the arm again until Kerr taps out at 2:02. Stan: Yap, and it's Danny Severn (1-0) at 3:58 R1. Larry: Mustache dude goin' all the way, I tellsya. Vitor Belfort (0-0) vs. Pat Miletich (0-0) Larry: RIP Miletich. He'll never knew what hit him. Stan: It's really a shame, yap. Tale of the Tape Stan: Knowing that Vitor is Your Pick, we're gonna go straight to the match. Larry: Vito's got a 40 pound weight advantage. How could he not win? Stan: What if a piano fell on him? Larry: Good call. The Bout Miletich with kicks. Vitor takes him down and hammers on him in mounted position. Miletich grapevines his waist. Vitor says NO POBO and goes back to mounted classic. Miletich rolls through, back lower mounted position. Miletich with a submission. Vitor doesn't tap. Vitor tries some elbows, but Miletich hooks on and VITOR TAPS at 1:39 left. Larry: Oooh, lordy. Thank goodness I didn't bet the house on that one. Stan: Yap. Pat Miletich (1-0) at 3:21 R1. UFC Lightheavyweight Title Semifinals: Frank Shamrock (0-0) vs. Jeremy Horn (0-0) Stan: Let's see who meets Tito. Tale of the Tape Larry: Horn is two inches taller and seven pounds north of Shamrock. Stan: So who's Your Pick? Larry: Gotta be Frank Shamrock. Stan: Why? Larry: My cousin's named Frank. He's getting married next week. Stan: Tell him I said congrats. Larry: Yap. The Bout Frank just blows Horn away with kicks but Horn fights back. Frank isn't phased. This one is a straight fight. Frank trips him and just cranks his neck. Done at 3:14 left. Larry: Damn. Stan: This Shamrock guy, he's gonna take it all. Frank Shamrock at 2:46 R1. UFC Heavyweight Title Semifinals: Gary Goodridge (0-0) vs. Mark Coleman (0-0) Stan: So someone's going on to face Dan Severn. Larry: The winner of this is irrelevant. Their lack of facial hair is disappointing. Tale of the Tape Stan: Gary with 12 pound weight advantage. Larry: He sure doesn't look hungry. He's my pick to win because..hell, I don't know, I'm going for a brewsky. Stan: Yap, get me one too, wontcha? The Bout Goodridge kills him with punches. Coleman takes him down which Goodridge reverses into mounted punches. Coleman just blocks as much as he can. Goodridge unleashes the FURY.They role around some more and Coleman is just DONE. KO after Coleman tries a weak elbow. Larry: Whadd' I miss? Stan: Not much. Goodridge is a scary fella. Say, where's the timer? Larry: Ah, fa' gosh sakes, I dropped it in the ice bucket. Stan: Not a big loss. Goodridge (1-0) in..say 3:40 R1. UFC Lightheavyweight Title Finals: Tito Ortiz (1-0) vs. Frank Shamrock (1-0) Stan: *pop* *sizzle* *fizz* Oh, man, you shook it, didncha? Larry: Sorry. Tale of the Tape Larry: I have no clue, but I know this. Somebody wins. And somebody goes home with a sore jaw. Stan: Good call. The Bout Tito with punches and kicks. They continue to prance around another until Frank tries to take him down. Tito with huge kicks. Frank slams him down. Tries for a leg crank, Tito reverses. Tito on top. Punches until Frank takes control into mounted position. Frank hammers him. Tito rolls through. They both block. Tito goes into mounted position. Frank punches him and punches until he gets on top. Approx. :30 left and Frank punches Tito's lights out. Stan: Oh my. We almost saw the Round 2 Card Girl. Larry: Damn you, Frankie. Damn you. Stan: Frank Shamrock (2-0) wins the Lightheavyweight Title in 4:30 of R1. Kevin Randleman (0-0) vs. BJ Penn (0-0) Stan: So, this one's not for the title, eh? Larry: Nope. Turn it to fishing. Stan: Eh, alright. Tale of the Tape Larry: My, that's one big bass. Stan: Don't throw it back! Don't throw it back! Do--aw, he threw it back. Larry: Stoopid. The Bout As we turn it back to the fighting, Randleman attacks with punches and kicks. Randleman tries a throwdown, but Penn blocks. Randleman and Penn prance around like sissies until Pen gets a HUGE smash to the face. Randleman almost goes down, but not yet. It's about split and they continue to do some standup brawling until the round ends. Larry: Alright! Round 2 score girl! *wolf whistle* Stan: It was worth the $40. The Bout, Part II Randleman with knees. He misses some punches and they take their time going around. BJ doesn't go down, so Randleman just hits him in the head over and over. Randleman with a single leg takedown! Axehandle, and this one is over. Stan: And Randledude (1-0) wins it via knockout in R2. UFC Heavyweight Title: Dan Severn (0-0) vs. Gary Goodridge (0-0) Stan: Let's talk about the history of this feud, eh? Larry: ..Like..uh. Stan: Howboutcha make something up? Larry: Goodridge banged his wife. Stan: Yap, that one's a keeper. Tale of the Tape Larry: My pick is Dan Severn. No question. Stan: Yap, but Goodridge is 13 years younger. Larry: Don't matter. Stan: We'll see about that. The Bout: Goodridge is taken down by Dan Severn. Severn has his hold reversed, and is beaten upon. But Severn reverses that and hits rights and lefts. So Goodridge beats his ass to a pulp. Severn tries to block, and gets him in the back mounted position. Oh, this one's so done. Severn with elbows multiple times to the back of the neck and Goodridge is done at almost 4:00. Larry: I toldcha! Stan: Yes, ya' did, Lar. Larry: If I had a nickel for every time I was right tonight, I still wouldn't be able to pay off the bill for this PPV. Stan: Yap. Y'er screwed. Larry's Final Thought: Larry: Well, only one match went into round two. And that match was good. Nobody bled. Well, yap, that's a downer. Stan: Alrighty then, we're out of here. Larry: G'night. --- I incorrectly stated before that all matches would be worth 10 Throwdown points. My bad. Regular matches are worth 15, title bouts worth 25. The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2004 UFC II Denver, Colorado Hosted by Larry and Stan, live from The Keg somewhere in Manitoba Stan: Hiya there, wrasslin' fans, I'm Stan, he's Larry. Larry: Hiyo. Stan: Get ready for some UFC? Tito Ortiz (1-1) vs. Evan Tanner (0-0) Stan: Well, Lar, this is Tito Ortiz's third match. He's 1-1 from last show, when he made it to the Lightheavyweight title finals. Larry: Yap, yap. Lost in a hyuge upset. Stan: Do you think he can regain some credibility by beating Evan Tanner tonight? Larry: Yesirree Bob. When he wins tonight, he'll be back in the hunting for the belt. He's my pick. Tale of the Tape Stan: They both weigh the same, but Tito's got the height advantage by two inches. The Bout Evan with two punches and knees, but Tito strikes back. Tito attempts a takedown, but Evan wallops him with a haymaker and some knees. Tito finally does take him down, and lays it into Evan. Evan reverses and gets on top of Tito. He tries for a leg crank, but he rolls out. Tito is on top. They continue to reverse over, and over again. Time up. Stan: My, my, my, eh? Larry: Yap. Didn't expect it to go this far. Round 2 and Tito circles around him. Evan misses several knees, so Tito takes the chance to hit him with straight rights. Takedown by Tito, who just smacks him like a bitch. Tito and Evan block eachothers' strikes, until Evan tries a leg crank. Evan in control now, and Tito can't finish him off before the end. Stan: Oh my gravy. This is the longest a UFC match has ever gone! Larry: Well, Tito's gotta finish the job in the final round. He's gotta. Tito takes him down early, and Evan tries to roll out. Tito goes BADASS and just demolishes him with punches. He pauses, and finishes him off with a final blow to the face, even as Tanner tries to block it. Stan: Good bout. Larry: Evan tried to block everything he could, but Tito just came roaring back up. Sorta like those buffalo wings that are making their ways back up through my stomach. Stan: Good to know. Larry: Yap, only a fiver for twenty, eh? Stan: Tito Ortiz, KO, R3. Maurice Smith (0-0) vs. Pete Williams (0-0) Stan: Here comes Maurice Smith! Larry: Who? Tale of the Tape Stan: Smith is 40 while Pete is 26. Petey's also got the weight advantage. Larry: I'd declare this a bathroom break, but the crapper in this joint is out of order. Stan: Who's your pick? Larry: My pick is Maurice. He must be tough if he survived high school without getting killed for having a girly name. Stan: What's wrong with Maurice? Larry: Too close to Maury, which is too close to Mary. And then the "rice" part on the end of it, which is too close to..rice. Stan: What's wrong with rice? Larry: Shaddup, the match is about to begin. The Bout Pete and Maury trade blows early. Pete takes him down first, and blocks a few attempts to reverse the hold until Maurice finally does get on top. They reverse again, and Pete beats him with punches. Leg crank, and Maurice screams until he taps. Larry: Didja hear that? He screamed like a girl! He is a Mary after all! Stan: Now, now, watch 'er manners, eh? Pete Williams, tapout, R1 Eugene Jackson (0-0) vs. Kevin Randleman (1-0) Larry: Hey, it's Randledude! Tale of the Tape Stan: Kevin Randleman, Larry's favourite, is obviously his pick today. Larry: Yap, yap. I heard Randleman once saved a woman from being hit by a bus! Stan: Really? Larry: No, I wanted to put out a good word for the guy. The Bout Randleman approaches while Eugene swings wildly. Randleman blocks all of Eugene's offence, and just beats him with punches. Big blow to the neck of Randleman. He fires back, and Eugene keeps approaching. Nobody has attempted to take the other down yet. Until now. Randleman and Jackson reverse until time rings out. Stan: Not looking good for your favourite. Larry: Aw, crap. Randleman and Eugene start firing off at eachother. Randleman closes in on him with the corner. Eugene with a HUGE hit that almost takes him down, but Randleman keeps firing back. After a straight right, Randleman wins. Stan: Well, Randleman is now number one contender for Frank Shamrock's Lightheavyweight Title. Larry: That's my boy! Well, except that he's not actually my son. Stan: Yap, yap. Randleman, KO, R2. Non Title: Dan Severn (2-0) vs. Bas Rutten (0-0) Stan: If Bas wins this, I hear he'll be granted an automatic title shot next show. Larry: I hear they're going out of business next show. Stan: Then what will we do? Larry: Watch some CFL. Tale of the Tape Stan: Dan Severn by 35 pounds and 11 years. Pick? Larry: Dan Severn, for rockin' the mustache. The Bout Severn tries to throw him down, but Bas just claws at the top of his head and puts him in the back mounted position. Dan reverses, gets in shots, has his hold reversed, reversed again, back to Rutten, and after more and more rolling, it's Dan's hold. But Rutten rolls out again. Ugh. So Dan's pissed enough to stop the reversing and grab Rutten's neck until he's forced to tap out. Stan: Too bad for Rutten. Larry: Yap, yap. Totally mismatched. Stan: Severn, submission, R1. Caol Uno (0-0) vs. John Lewis (0-0) Larry: Uno! I remember that game! Card game. Don't remember playing "Lewis", though. Stan: Yap, yap. Tale of the Tape Stan: So, who do you think is gonna win? Larry: Caol Uno, no doubt. He's only 5'2! Revenge of the midgets! Stan: Let's see. The Bout Caol tries a straight punch, but Lewis fights back, spins, and Uno does some Matrix shit that's pretty funny to watch. Lewis comes back with strikes, but blocks Uno's. They continue to pace around until Lewis is finally knocked down, and Uno hammers on him some more. Round up once they get to their feet. R2: Lewis ducks a punch, and then they just do more punching. And more. And more. Until Lewis tries for a kick! But it's reversed into a punch. Aww. Lewis is taken down, and Uno beats on his face. Lewis reverses, and with two quick punches, Lewis knocks him out cold. Stan: That sucked. Larry: You gotta hand it to them for trying. Trying to get me to pour hot sauce in my eyes. Stan: Lewis, KO, R2. Lightheavyweight Title: Frank Shamrock (2-0) vs. Elvis Sinosic (0-0) Stan: Here we go. Larry: Here come the big dogs. Tale of the Tape Stan: Who, Larry, who? Larry: Frank Shamrock. Elvis is dead, remember? Stan: Yap, yap. The Bout They trade punches and Shamrock is just blocking everything from the King. Elvis takes blows like a man, and will not stop trying to come back with his own rights. Frank and Elvis pace around until Frank hits a huge slam, puts Elvis in a leg lock, and Elvis taps. Stan: Well, that's it. Frank retains his title via tapout in R1. Larry: Yap, that's it for the show as well. S'long. Stan: Did you just say "schlong"? Combined, it's a nice sized roster, and most wrestlers are in more than 1 games (I said most). That way, it creates a for example "If Mr. Perfect is World Champ, he can only defend against people on the SNES Royal Rumble" Heavyweight Title Dan Severn def.
