Guest TigerDriver91 Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Raw drew a 4.0 Neilsen Media Research rating last night, up from the disappointing 3.4 rating last week. The first hour drew a 3.6 rating, the second a 4.4 rating (including the overrun, which peaked at a very strong 4.9). The Rock segment spiked the rating from 4.3 to a 4.6, then after Rock's segment ended, the rating dropped to a 4.2, so Rock had a definite impact on the show. www.pwtorch.com
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Kane winning/being in the main event again raises the ratings I wonder why the ratings were so horrible for last week though.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Kane winning/being in the main event again raises the ratings I wonder why the ratings were so horrible for last week though. Dude, your mass amount of Kane love is getting disturbing........ Plus, we all know RocksuperhugemoviestarOMMGLOL!!!!!!! = ratings!!!!!
Guest Choken One Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 It's clear that Kane is fucking over... when he main events...It goes up. ALWAYS. Too bad WWE missed the Goldberg/Kane boat.
cabbageboy Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 I hardly think Kane winning mattered in the ratings since there were 19 other guys involved. I think the Rock's appearance as well as the battle royal determining the #1 contender spiked the ratings.
Brett Favre Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 No Benoit = 3.4 Benoit = 4.0 Need I say more?
Guest GiZ Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 the vanila midget wouldn't have budged the ratings, crowd heat could tell you that. The Rock = Ratings .... people who have actual charisma and entertain
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Kane has always been an interesting character...when in the main event or floating around it. This shit with Matt Hardy though needs to end NOW. It shouldn't even have been started in the first place.
Guest TheAustralian Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 you have to laugh, Last weeks low rating had nothing to do with benoit not being there, people did not know he wasnt going to be there before hand, fans would of believed he was going to be on, and The increase this week most likely has alot to do with the recent quality of RAW and the Rock, Benoit is part of the reason for RAW's current rise, but he had nothing to do with the rating fall and rise. (IMO , of course there really is no way to know for sure)
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Rock can't be credited with this. NO ONE reported even a "maybe", and was a general shock. If the ratings were a 4.3 before he appeared, then somehow it wasn't him who popped it from the 3.4 to an overall 4.0.
Brett Favre Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 the vanila midget wouldn't have budged the ratings, crowd heat could tell you that. The Rock = Ratings .... people who have actual charisma and entertain Yeah stupid me. Benoit doesn't entertain.

Isn't it possible that it was Eugene who spiked the ratings during that segment? The people knew that was Eugene's segment to begin with, and no one knew The Rock would appear. Eugene = Ratings?
Tawren Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 the vanila midget wouldn't have budged the ratings, crowd heat could tell you that. Um...what? I'm sure Smackdown gets decent -> good crowd heat during the shows. HUUUGE ratings there, right? The Rock = Ratings .... people who have actual charisma and entertain The Rock = .3 ratings, according to the report. 4.3 to 4.6...so they were already doing great without him.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 My overall argument is the entire show did a 4.0, which is a +0.6 since last week. Rock was only on about 5-6 minutes without notice to anyone.
Guest GiZ Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Benoit isn't World Title material .... he would make a good IC champ at best. when you look at a couple of years ago when the ratings were flying, you had foley, rock, austin, HHH in the word title mix. All these performers were good in the ring and entertaining on the mike. But now we have Benoit as world champ?! wtf ... boooring And people are expected to cheer for this guy, for no aparent reason? He's a great wrestler but let him on the mike and make him tell a story to build up a fued, he can't do it. I'd turn Shawn Michaels a cocky heel and give him a run with the belt, because atm he as stale and boring as benoit. No wonder hardly anyone is watching anymore, including myself.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 I hate to burst your bubble, but HBK doesn't need another title run.
Tawren Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Benoit isn't World Title material .... he would make a good IC champ at best. Well, you're wrong. Look at ratings back in December. Without Benoit on Raw. Terrible ratings. Ever since Benoit won the belt, ratings have been steadily increasing. He also recieves tremendous live reactions. And people are expected to cheer for this guy, for no aparent reason? He's a great wrestler but let him on the mike and make him tell a story to build up a fued, he can't do it. I'd turn Shawn Michaels a cocky heel and give him a run with the belt, because atm he as stale and boring as benoit. No wonder hardly anyone is watching anymore, including myself. He did a great job (in the limited time he had + announcers ignoring him) building to the WMXX and Backlash matches against HHH and HBK. Look at his interview on Raw on 4/19. Tremendous work. And don't even bother responding. You said yourself you don't watch. Don't comment on it if you don't watch it. How would you know Benoit was "boring" on Raw, say, this week? You didn't even watch.
2GOLD Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Is everyone forgetting one of the hyped matches?!?! TRISH VS LITA= RATINGS! I see a best of seven series in their future, concluding with a dramatic first ever WWE Women's 60 minute Iron Match!

NikJohns, please delete this post when you read but I'm sorry... Giz, you're a fucking moron who wouldn't know a good wrestling match if he was forced to watch ring of honor. Please shut the fuck up, stop flame baiting 80+% of the board (all Benoit fans) and add shit to the conversation without trying to start an argument. Plus learn how to spell feud.
Kahran Ramsus Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Do you remember Wrestlemania where Benoit got the most heat of anybody on the card? Where people were actively booing HBK not out of heat for HBK, but merely because they wanted Benoit to win? And this was in New York, the most important market in the United States, not Canada.

I also hate to burst your bubble, but you're infected with a severe case of markism it seems. But anyways... I wonder why the ratings were so horrible for last week though. Because...usually when there's a good show the NEXT week is what usually does better...because usually people decide not to watch the show for whatever reason..but then after they hear from other's that it was a great show they tune in. And I have to agree that the spike was not due to The Rock..although I'm sure that gained another maybe .1...but it was a Eugene segment to begin with and I'm sure that's when people wanted to see what was going to happen. And the sudden surprised of the rock made it even better.
Guest GiZ Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 "hardly watch" doesn't meant i dont watch at all, can you read? "Ever since Benoit won the belt, ratings have been steadily increasing" what a massive .1? or maybe that was because the company was comming off it's biggest event? announcers ignoring him maybe if he gave the announcers something to talk about they would
Jericho2000Mark Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 the vanila midget wouldn't have budged the ratings, crowd heat could tell you that. That's funny, I've heard "Benoit" chants on every Raw he's appeared on since Backlash...

Sweaty Kane is a major draw

I don't know how much it is..is it thousands? ten thousands? I dunno..but it's a big number.

I suggest to a mod this thread be closed since it's getting way off topic.
