RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 I downloaded a Japanese movie and I want to watch it with subtitles. I searched for subtitles, found some, and dl'd VobSub cause it was suggested below - but it's not working. Here's the info that came with it:: //====================================================================// // Movie Title: Battle Royale // // Original Release: 2000 // // Version: Special Edition Director's Cut DVD // // Verison Date: 2002 // // Format... // // -Video: Xvid VBR 643 kbps @ 640 x 352 // // +Aspect Ratio: Approx 16:9 // // -Audio 1: MPEG 3-Layer VBR 160 kbps Stereo // // +Content: Main Movie // // -Audio 2: None // // -Subtitles: English // // +Format: .idx & .sub files // //--------------------------------------------------------------------// // Encoded with Gordian Knot: http://www.doom9.org/software.htm // //====================================================================// OTHER INFO / POINTLESS RAMBLINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS: The subtitles can be viewed either with the (Direct)VobSub codec or loaded manually using any number of video players, including my favorite, Media Player Classic. Select the .idx file when loading them manually. Also, some of the aforementioned players may load the subtitles automatically. Since DirectVobSub does this as well you may see two sets of subtitles when viewing at full screen. You will have to either disable VobSub's autoloading feature or disable the player's subtitle rendering to fix this. Y|yukichigai Help is appreciated.
Downhome Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Put the movie, and the subtitle file in the same folder, and it should work. That's how I've done it every time, and the subs pop right up when you start the video file.
Downhome Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Or if you have a different format that doesn't work that way, go here and download one that will work like I said, if you want. http://divxstation.com/searchsubtitles.asp...3&Submit=Search
RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 I tried that. Maybe the subtitle files are not compatible?
Downhome Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Perhaps not. Did you try any of the ones I liked you to?
RavishingRickRudo Posted May 22, 2004 Author Report Posted May 22, 2004 Yeah, I did those before and I dl'd a bunch of other stuff and it is still not working I guess I'll have to watch it in Japanese, pause it after every scene, and then check the subtitle file to see what went on
Jobber of the Week Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Subtitle file needs to have the name as the movie (except for the .avi part)
