Should The Ultimate Warrior be inducted into...

Recommended Posts

The Ultimate Warrior, say what you will, is the most well-known wrestler in WWF/E history, behind Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Andre the Giant, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Question is, not WILL the WWE induct him (the company and Warrior seem to have major heat, what with Warrior's dissapearing acts after signing), but SHOULD he be in the WWE Hall of Fame?

In my opinion, the WWE Hall of Fame is a joke without the likes of Savage and Warrior, and with the likes of JYD and Harley Race (who was a WWF star for what, 2 years, and retired shortly thereafter).

The WWE Hall of Fame is purely political. It's based on loyalty more than anything else.

I think it's great that the WWE goes to the trouble of honoring the legends and giving them the spotlight, but I don't think we'll be seeing the likes of Warrior anytime soon if ever. After all, this is a guy that was nothing before he walked in the door and was shot to superstardom in record time just to turn around and walk out on the company three times over the span of 5 years.

Bruno and Bret deserve a spot in there before Warrior. Bret might get in eventually, Bruno - I doubt it. They'll offer but he won't accept.

Despite what anyone says about The Warrior he was indeed one of the biggest stars in the history of The WWE, and I think he should get a spot in The WWE Hall Of Fame, but your right not before Bruno or Bret, or even Foley for that matter. I think if the Warrior gets in which he should it shouldnt happen for at least another 10 years or so.

As for Bruno he'll be in The WWE Hall Of Fame yet, its only a matter a time. Same with Bret, but with Bruno he will probally have sadly passed away before he gets in there.

No. No. No. No. No.

Tell me, what makes Ultimate Warrior so legendary? His retarded promos? 30 second matches because he blows up running to the ring? His lack of loyalty? Wait, that was worded wrong. His lack of commitment. He can shake hands with Sid and go play softball half the year for all I care.

Junkyard Dog & Harley Race are legends outside the WWF. But they were part of the WWF, and it didn't say that you were inducted based soley on your WWF status. Trying to compare Race to the ULTIMATE FUCKING WARRIOR is an insult to all wrestlers and wrestling fans. How anyone can make the observation that warrior should be in and not Race completely baffles me.

I agree. The Ultimate Warrior was SOOOOO much better than Harley Race. I mean, he ran to the ring, man. Did Harley Race ever do that? [/Warrior Mark]

I don't think Warrior deserves to be in the "Hall of Fame." The WWF gave him everything and he threw it all away. Also keep in mind that he couldn't cut a promo, had no wrestling skills to speak of, and was a backstage cancer. He's said some pretty distasteful things since leaving the WWF as well (i.e. saying he was glad Rick Rude was dead).

Mr. T should be the next celebrity induction. Hell, anyone would be a better choice than Warrior. Maybe Barry Horowitz & Steve Lombardi can be the first into the jobber wing.

There is a LONG list of people who deserve and will likely get in before warrior ever does.

What kind of idiotic statement is that when you said Warrior is the biggest names after Hogan, Austin, Andre, Rock.

Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Undertaker and Sting were bigger names then Warrior.

Warrior's title run was a diaster for WWF and his stint in 1996 was a flop as was his triumphant return in 1998 with WCW. Warrior has been pretty anti wrestling lately making some of the stupidest statements ever.

Here is a list of 50 people who SHOULD and WILL get in before Warrior is even considered...(not counting the "active" peeps like hhh and '

taker and flair)...In no order.

Bret Hart

Bruno Sammantino

Randy Savage

Hulk Hogan

Ted Dibiase

Curt Hening

Steve Austin

Rick Rude

Vader

Great Muta

Steiner Brothers

Sting

Bob Backlund

Road Warriors

Ricky Steamboat

Rock n Roll express

Arn Anderson

Lex Luger (has better chance the warrior)

Sid (was ALWAYS over and never really burnt bridges)

Roddy Piper (burnt his bridges hundred times over but still comes back some way or another)

Terry Funk

Dory Funk Jr.

Paul Orndorff

Stan Hansen

Dusty Rhodes

Larry Zybysko

Jerry "The King" Lawler

Brian Pillman

Abdullah the Butcher

Bob Orton

Brisco Brothers

Koloff Brothers

Wahoo McDaniel

Midnight express

Buddy Rogers

Pat O Conner

Eddie Gilbert

Art Barr

Jim Duggan

The Big Bossman

Jake Roberts

British Bulldog

Jushin Lyger

Owen Hart

Idiotic statement? I said Warrior was one of the most recognized wrestlers in *****WWE****** history.

You saying Sting is a bigger WWE name than The Warrior is *idiotic*. Read, please?

Triple H....Warrior is more known.

Ric Flair....Warrior much more known, WWE-wise.

Randy Savage...Warrior and he are pretty much tied.

Bret Hart....Johnny Average barely knows who Bret was...his run was during a bad period for WWE.

The Undertaker...forgot him, I'll give you that.

Sting...uh, in WCW, maybe.

Sting at his peak in 1997 was at the levels of Hogan in 1989 and Austin a year later...Sting was the biggest babyface during this incredibly hot phase in wrestling.

Ric Flair is universal. Why you think his DVD was one of the years top sellers?

Randy Savage was Hulk Hogan's #2 guy during wrestling biggest peak. MUCH more known then Warrior was.

The Montreal Situation along with Owen's Tragic death gave Bret more mainstream attention then most wrestlers ever got...warrior has NEVER gotten mainstreme attention.

Triple H was the top name during WWE biggest's period in it's EXISTANCE. He and the Rock were the driving forces when WWE was making it's greatest finacial income.

I also want to add...That the Hall of Fame isn't a *WWE* Hall of fame anymore...according to vince back a few months ago...this HOF reflects all of wrestling history...

Much like the short-lived WCW Hall of Fame.

I was watching Slamboree 95 yesterday (not for fun, to get some specifics for the WCW results site) and I found it interesting that Big John Studd found himself in both the WCW and WWE Hall of Fame. His son (the same one at WrestleMania) accepted on his behalf. This was two months after he passed away from cancer.

Yep...I believe that one was consolidated into the WWE HOF or whatever.

I wouldn't be shocked if Vince inductes Sting as a WCW Hall of Famer next year and Tazz(or dreamer) as a ECW Hall of Famer next year.

Warrior should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I am not a Warrior fan at all, but I can recognize that when a lot of non-fans start naming wrestlers from the early 90's, Warrior will be part of it just as Hogan is. Regardless of the backstage behaviour and bullshit, he should be put in simply because he is one of the most memorable guys in wrestling.

And in-ring talent was never a consideration for putting guys into the Hall of Fame. If it were, then guys like Andre and Studd wouldn't be in it.

I'm not totally sure about Flair and Taker, but I doubt HHH and Sting would get listed before Warrior. Both men were/are very over, but they're two names that you probably wouldn't know unless you actually watched wrestling. Warrior, on the other hand, may not have had the mainstream exposure of a Rock or a Hogan, but he was marketed very heavily in 90/91 (on lunchboxes, ice cream bars, toys, sneakers, etc) when WWF was still very popular, so much so that he is (or at least was) easily identified by non-fans.

Triple H was all over TV in 2000 and the fact he will have a key role in the Blade 3 movie adds to it...He was the top name of the company outside of Vince and The Rock during WWE's BIGGEST period of it's existance.

Undertaker was the target of a HUGE media backlash during 1999, it was his character that got the most attention from the mainstream audience.

Warrior's stint in 1990/91 was Diaster...so thus means he could not been that big of a name where house draws went down.

As I said earlier, the HOF is based largely on loyalty. It's that backstage behavior and bullshit that's keeping him out of it and rightly so. Why reward a guy who left you and your company high and dry time after time after time?

Maybe if he'd made that face turn in 2001, he'd have had more mainstream noteriety (he was getting there), but the fact that he was a heel for most of his career limits his exposure, because Vince couldn't market him heavily. His name will ring a bell with anyone familiar with the product, but his name recognition outside of that circle is very limited. Just look at how long it took him to get that role in Blade 3 (reportedly, with a lot of pushing from the WWE office).

Undertaker was the target of a HUGE media backlash during 1999, it was his character that got the most attention from the mainstream audience.

I'd say Godfather and Val Venis were bigger targets than Taker ever was, as the majority of the anti-WWF reports focused on the fact that they had porn stars and pimps on the show. On that note, if you went around today and mentioned the names Val Venis and Ultimate Warrior, who's more likely to be remembered?

Edit: Let me explain where I'm coming from here, since I know I'm gonna get called on it. Basically, when it comes to the media backlash, it was these characters' actions that got the media attention, not the names themselves, and the same goes for Taker's stuff during that period. I'm not so sure that Taker wasn't bigger than Warrior, but if he is, it isn't because of the Ministry stuff. When you mention the Undertaker, most people will think of the deadman character, not the guy who crucified Austin.

Warrior's stint in 1990/91 was Diaster...so thus means he could not been that big of a name where house draws went down.

He may not have been that popular, but because of the marketing he had behind him he was easily recognizable. You really didn't have to watch the shows to know who he was, because when the ice cream truck came around in the summer, he was right there. Turn on Nickelodeon or any other kids show and you'd see him heavily featured in action figure commercials. You could go to Toy R Us or whatever and go by a WWF display and see BIG pictures of Hogan and Warrior. Go to the supermarket and you'd see Warrior's face on boxes of candy. Go to the arcade, there's Wrestlefest (I could be mistaken, but isn't he the guy to beat in order to win the game?). He was marketed so heavily that for a while when you thought of WWF, Hogan and Warrior were the first to come to mind. I can't think of too many people outside of Austin, Rock and Hogan that got the kind of exposure that Warrior got.
