OK - I know Ric Flair was in a plane crash and broke his back way back when. Is this the reason why he only ever takes back bumps on one side (his left I think, without looking at a tape as I type). I just would have thought that even with a previously broken back you'd surely do more damage to your ribcage on one side by landing like that than you would with a flat back bump, especially over the period of time that Flair's been wrestling.

Anyone?

I think Flair is just too old to risk landing right on his back. He's obviously nowhere near the shape he used to be, and maybe this is his way of keeping himself healthy.

Oh hell, I don't know... he's so old that he could get injured doing anything, so it's a miracle he's still doing this almost full-time now.

Yea, as been said is correct. But you have to think that eventually he's gonna end up breaking his arm or something. Because 80% of the time his bumps look just that horrible.

Flair doesn't bump on his ribs; nobody does that, it's just asking for trouble. On his side-back bumps, he takes the majority of the impact on his hip, with his forearm and thigh helping out a bit.

I was going to say that a man that old should be careful with his hip, as the stereotype is that old men break their hips a lot, but I realized he's only 54, which made me wonder how Flair might look different if his haircolor was anything other than white his whole career. I remember being a kid and thinking he was really old back in 89 or so just because of his hair color. It makes you wonder.
