LoRisk 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 WWF @ Fresno, CA - Convention Center - May 31, 1988 Wrestling Challenge taping: 6/19/88 Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Steve Lombardi & Terry Gibbs at 3:11 when Jannetty pinned Lombardi with a suplex / crossbody combo (Rockers' debut, although aired after their TV debut taped the next day) Being the huge Rockers mark that I am, I *think* it was Tom Stone in this match, not Terry Gibbs. landy1987 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2004 WWF @ Fresno, CA - Convention Center - May 31, 1988 Wrestling Challenge taping: Jacques & Raymond Rougeau defeated B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell when Jacques pinned Brunzell with a forearm to the back from the top rope 6/19/88: Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Steve Lombardi & Terry Gibbs at 3:11 when Jannetty pinned Lombardi with a suplex / crossbody combo (Rockers' debut, although aired after their TV debut taped the next day) just had a look at that episode and it was definitely not Terry Gibbs, but I couldn't tell who the other guy was as the intoductions of Lombardi and the other guy were cut out and Monsoon or Heenan never mentioned either guy. Also I'm almost certain there was no Rougeaus/Bees match at this taping, because the match in question aired on Superstars and was recorded the next day in Oakland. It aired on 7/2 and was the second to last match before the Rude squash and the finish and result of the match are most definitely right. Interestingly enough this is also the final appearance of the Bees as a tag team wrestling on either Superstars and Challenge even though they didn't split up until September as they were still doing Event Center promos then

MLW and the WWF ran several cities in southern Ontario, and, as another poster pointed out, there were frequently TV tapings in Brantford. I believe Kitchener and Hamilton had a few, too. One of the reasons McMahon wanted the territory was because he could market to a very large population base in a concentrated geographical area. You would always see Billy Red Lyons come on and promote all the cities in Ontario that the WWF would be hitting in the coming weeks. Now, the Billy Jack Haynes vs Hercules chain match on Even More Unusual Matches. I'm not sure if you have that tape Graham but I know it is definitely somewhere in Ontario, Canada as the guy who ring announced all WWF shows in Ontario from 86-early 90s is announcing plus Billy Red Lyons is commentating and only commentated shows in Canada. I dont know if you have noticed that the arena is quite small and they have those red steps at the apron of the ring in the middle. I have one other match from that same show which is Brad Rheingans pinning Terry Gibbs. I noticed during commentary that Gorilla Monsoon talked about how Bobby Heenan was now managing the Islanders. This only first aired on Superstars on 5/31/87 which means this show in Canada must have been in late May or early June (matches at house shows are normally taped and aired anytime within 1 to 4 weeks later on PTW). What I am wondering is do you think there is a chance that these matches were both at this show in Kitchener? Also one other thing to add in the Rougeaus vs Hercules/Gibbs match, I think it is hilarious because Hercules and Raymond actually have an Arm Wrestling match on the floor inside the ring which is rather strange to see! cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2004 Richard, Thanks for the note. Before I actually label it a TV taping, I'm hoping I can get ahold of an old Observer and get the other matches that were taped that night. - Graham

Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 From what I remember the WWF had a heavier House show load because they had a Large roster back then and pretty much everyone worked. so when there is a television event.... whomever was not on that card is off in the house show
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 WWF @ Bronx, NY - Lehman High School - June 3, 1986 Included Ted Arcidi and SD Jones A house show on the same night as a TV taping? What would be the purpose of that? If the same talent was on both shows, I would have my doubts as to the accuracy of the info. But when the house show is a rinky dink high school spot show where the only names previously announced were nowhere near the top of the card, I'm pretty sure it's correct. Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 7, 2004 June 5 Koko B. Ware defeated Dale Wolfe Just goes to show you even a Birdman can beat a Pitbull when its just a pup. Huh? Gary Wolfe (not Dale Wolfe) was Pitbull #1. Finishes for some of the shows: WWF @ Chicago, IL - Rosemont Horizon - June 1, 1998 Raw is War: Val Venis pinned Papi Chulo KOTR Qualifying Match: Marc Mero pinned Steve Blackman The Nation defeated DX in a 6-man elimination match KOTR Qualifying Match: Jeff Jarrett defeated Farooq WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Taka Michinoku defeated Sho Funaki KOTR Qualifying Match: Mark Henry pinned Terry Funk Kane pinned the Undertaker; due to prematch stipulations, Kane became the #1 contender to the world title Val pinned Chulo with the Money Shot. Mero beat Blackman with the Shooting Star Press (Mero used a low blow and a samoan drop to set up the SSP). Six Man Elimination: Billy Gunn pinned D'Lo Brown with a piledriver; The Rock pinned Road Dogg with the Rock Bottom; Owen Hart pinned Billy Gunn with a spinning heel kick; HHH pinned The Rock with the Pedigree; Owen Hart beat HHH by DQ after Ken Shamrock ran in and attacked Owen. Jarrett pinned Faarooq after hitting him with Tennessee Lee's belt buckle. Taka pinned Funaki with the Michinoku Driver. Mark Henry pinned Terry Funk following a powerbomb and big splash. Kane pinned Taker with the Tombstone. WWF @ Rockford, IL - Metro Centre - June 2, 1998 Raw is War - 6/8/98: KOTR Qualifying Match: Ken Shamrock defeated Kama Mustafa Farooq & Steve Blackman defeated Jeff Jarrett & Marc Mero KOTR Qualifying Match: Owen Hart defeated Scorpio Chainz pinned Droz Vader defeated Mark Henry KOTR Qualifying Match: Dan Severn defeated D-Lo Brown Val Venis fought Dustin Runnels to a no contest WWF Tag Team Champions Billy Gunn & the Road Dogg defeated the Legion of Doom Shamrock beat Kama with the anklelock. Faarooq & Blackman beat Jarrett & Mero when Blackman pinned Jarrett with an inside cradle. Owen beat Scorpio with the Sharpshooter. Chainz pinned Droz following a Death Valley Driver. Mark Henry beat Vader by DQ when The Undertaker ran in and chokeslammed both men (Taker chokeslammed Henry first, so I'm guessing Henry won by DQ). Severn beat D'Lo by submission (As a result of Severn's hold, D'Lo was "injured," which led to D'Lo wearing the chest protector). Venis-Runnels ended in a no-contest when Taker intefered and chokeslammed both men. The New Age Outlaws beat LOD 2000 and DOA in a triple threat match when Road Dogg laid down and let Billy Gunn pin him (this led to the "Outlaw" rule). WWF @ Minneapolis, MN - Target Center - June 4, 2001 Raw is War: KOTR Qualifying Round: Jeff Hardy pinned Matt Hardy with a backslide Kane vs. Christian WWF World Champion Steve Austin pinned Chris Jericho with the Stunner after the challenger was accidentally hit by Mick Foley, the guest referee, after William Regal interfered Kane pinned Christian with a powerbomb.
