I was just thinking about 2004 so far and what would you guys feel are some of the match of the year candidates?

I haven't seen much from this year (yet, but I'm starting to catch up). I'd call the 1/10/04 GHC Jr Tag Title match between KENTA/Marufuji and Samurai/Inoue a MOTYC.

I've heard a lot of good things about Kawada vs Hashimoto, Lyger vs Hashi, and Kobashi vs Takayama. Tenzan vs Tenryu from 2/15 is a pretty low end pick.

I thought Nagata vs Sasaki (1/4/04) was an awesome bout with great heat and visual. Heat vs Curry Man (2/1/04) best junior match so far this year. Heat against Kanemoto from 2/29 and 3/28 were also hot.

I haven't seen much but what I can tell you is that HEAT vs Kanemoto 2/29 is a pile of garbage and has no place even being considered for MOTYC. I haven't seen such horrible no selling crap in ages and was truly under the impression Kanemoto had grown past that kind of behaviour. I hear the re-match was very good; when I get my hands on it I'll drop a line in here again.

Kobashi/Takayama and KENTA-Marufuji/Misawa-Ogowa are up there.

KENTA/Marufuji vs Misawa/Ogawa is definitely up there. For once, Misawa and his stupid bad habbits didn't tank the match, and KENTA brings some swank psych by doing all these Kawada mannerisims.

I disagree here, Kobashi and Takayama did some really nice stuff to work over Kobashi's arm to start, but then Kobashi started ignoring it to hit the lariat, made even worse when it wasn't the finish.

He sold on the first lariat (on the floor), sold on the second lariat (near the end), but didn't on the third. While that hurt the match, Takayama had also moved away from the arm, and was going for bombs at the end, so it shouldn't have hurt as much.

I actually saw this match and I thought it was an awesome touch to have KENTA doing the Kawada stuff. Plus it's nice to see a guy like KENTA(who IMO, kicks large amounts of ass) get his moves put over in a match instead of getting treated like "no sell the Jr.'s moves" type thing. Great match though.......
