If you could change the outcome of the match...

If you could go back in time and change the result of one WWE match what would it be?

When thinking about possible matches that I would change the result to, the first match that comes to mind is the Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels match at Survivor Series '97. Bret Hart should have never had his WWF career end that way. It was in no way fair or right for Bret Hart to go into a match that he was planned to win and then have his own boss, Vince McMahon screw him like he did. I don't think that I would actually changed the result of that match, I would have just had Shawn Michaels planned to win in the first place. That way, Bret Hart would have gone out of the WWF without being embarrassed in front of millions of people nation wide.

One match that I would have definitely changed the outcome to would be the match between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIX. In no way did Shawn Michaels actually need that win against Jericho.

Chris Jericho could have done with a win against the Heart Break Kid on the biggest stage of them all. A win over HBK for Jericho at WrestleMania would have surely helped his career. What was the point in HBK defeating Jericho at WrestleMania XIX? The WWE should be thinking about their future talent.

So if you could go back in time and change the result of one WWE match what would it be? Whether you wanted The Rock to defeat Stone Cold at WrestleMania X7 or Mick Foley to beat Randy Orton at Backlash 2004 tell us all here. Explain why.

The whole point of the screwjob was that Bret refused to job the title in Canada. Bret was willing to drop it on another night, but not in Canada.

Wrestlemania 9, Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna. I would haveabolished the match, and just had Yokozuna squahs Hogan once and for all at KOTR.

Wrestlemania XIX - Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels

I would have made Jericho the winner here.

Mr. Perfect vs. Shawn Michaels - Summer Slam 93

That stellar 4 month feud needed a blow off and it didn't happen here, as it should have. Let one of them go over via pinfall, even if Diesel interfered.

I used to just wonder why didn't they do a Double DQ Finish at Series and since the next night was in Detroit(make sure to take the title away from bret that night just in case)...Have Shawn cut a promo...Bret says "this is your LAST chance, shawn"...

Shawn cheats like crazy...Austin comes in gives Bret a stunner to send him on his way and Shawn gets the cheap pin for the title.

Easy way to "finish" the Austin/Hart saga and put the title back on Shawn and give the Austin/Shawn angle something to go with right away...

Bret's happy...he loses the title thanks to his "chosen one" in austin and not due to a full out job to his enemy.

But then I realized...Vince WANTED to screw bret...simple as that.

I would have changed the outcome of Diesel/Backlund. That fucking match kickstarted 12 months of shit.

I'd have had Mr Perfect win the 1990 Rumble. Hogan was already champ and had no need to win it whatsoever. The Rumble in those days didn't even lead to a 'Mania headline so there isn't even the excuse that Perfect didn't have enough name value to headline Wrestlemania 6.

It always bugged me that they made him #30. OK, it drew attention to him and gave him some of the spotlight but surely they only reason to have him #30 would be if he was gonna win. That way at least Hogan could say he only won cause he only had to go 5-10mins. I never understood why, if they didn't plan on Perfect winning, they didn't make him come out in the first 10 and survive till the end. At least it would have given him a push without him winning.

The ending should have been Perfect and Rude ganging up to dump Hogan then squaring off with eachother. Perfect wins (or even Rude would have been fine) and then they have the blow off match at WM6 - and the winner got the Warrior fued. Would have pushed both of them, built two credible heel challengers, seen Hogan lose and saved a horrible Wrestlemania 6 undercard. Everyones happy.

Maybe Warriors title reign would have done better had he had another top heel to fued with before/after Rude.

The Raw following Survivor Series '97 wasn't held in Detroit. It was held in Ottawa.

It wasn't a WWF/E match, but I would've changed the finish to Hogan-Sting at Starrcade 1997. I would have Sting beat Hogan cleanly in under 10 minutes.

Yep you're right...I remember Meltzer's review of the whole thing and I guess i got detroit's placing in the wrong place.

I still think Bret is a piece of shit for refusing to do the right thing and laying down for shawn in Montreal or even Ottawa...it's not like it was CALGARY.

bret's stupid notion that canada is his CITY always annoyed me.

Didn't Bret's contract still have two more weeks left? I would have had Bret drop the title at MSG show(or the richmond raw)...Bret wouldn't mind jobbing at NYC and it wouldn't be aired on National TV.

I would've had Bret not lose the WWF title to Sid the night after Final Four.

Also, I would've had Savage win the 93 Royal Rumble. Savage/Bret would've been great and Bret going over would've given him a HUGE rub.

I couldn't agree more.

The 1993 Rumble lacked star-power to begin with, and having a mid-carder win to headline the "Worst" Wrestlemania ever just sucked IMO.

When the guy would rather job the belt to the Brooklyn Brawler than Shawn Michaels, how is that being a piece of shit? He was willing to lose it to ANYONE BUT SHAWN MICHAELS at the PPV.

Something a bit more recent, Summerslam 2003, give the belt to Goldberg there. It was gonna happen anyway, and the fans wanted to see Goldberg just destroy everyone in sight, especially Trips.

hes a piece of shit for not doing what the man who employed him and his brother and family members for the past 15 years and went against what everyone else said and still put the title on...

He was leaving the company and should have done the respectful job like all the workers before him did when leaving a terrortory.

Not everyone gets to be like Austin and job to a guy they like on the way out...its still a part of the business.

Raven vs Tommy Dreamer on RAW to be thrown off the show . . . Raven should never have lost damnit!

I can't think of anything that I've seen to rival Raven-Jarrett from TNA though . . . except the elimination chamber HHH won - that was something dodgy right there, the crowd going bonkers for Goldberg yet they kept it on HHH for another month. Kind of tarnished his title win the next month I thought.

Shawn wouldn't job to Bret, so why should Bret have jobbed to him? If Vince was THAT into just getting the belt off him, he would've given Austin or Vader or Foley the belt before Survivor Series.

Yup... I agree 100% with that one. That one night, Goldberg was more over with the WWE crowd than he ever was before or after. Stringing that out for another month was stupid on so many levels.

The other one I'd have changed was the ending to WM 16. It was stupid and pointless for HHH to retain (he just lost the belt the following month), it made the Rock look like a choker in WM main events (he lost the year before too), and the booking for the end of the match was just AWFUL (a weak McMahon chairshot? COME ON).

Andre the Giant Vs. Hulk Hogan. WrestleMania 3. Add some "shock" value into the 1987 year, fool everyone, and have Andre give the title away just like the next year, only to have Hogan and Andre do the double-DQ just like in WM 4.

The ultimate Andre/Hulk blowoff (in a cage) could occur at SummerSlam 88, with Savage/DiBiase stip. match for the title.
