Possible WWE Competition

Recommended Posts

Guest Trivia247

The following is from MMANews.com:

Dream Stage Entertainment in Japan is beginning to look more and more like a company that can pose as a legitimate contender for World Wrestling Entertainment sometime in the near future. Though, the only way this could happen would be if Dream Stage decides to bring their product over to the United States. Currently, Dream Stage controls PRIDE, ZERO-ONE, and "HUSTLE" over in Japan, and is an extremely powerful company.

The feeling is that Dream Stage could be the one company that could give Vince McMahon a run for his money due to the fact that Dream Stage has enough funds to offer American wrestling superstars hefty amounts of money to appear on their shows, such as Steve Austin and Goldberg.

Another plus for the company is that they are in good standing with Barry Bloom, a wrestling agent who represents Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Mick Foley, and quite a few others.

Normally something like this would excite me.....except the fact the people at DSE give off the impression that they have no clue what they are doing......

for you puro watchers, what is..Dream stage? As oppose to the WWE which is one Company of wrestling that Absorbs other Promotions into their own and make them disappear.. WCW ECW etc...

Dream stage owns various organizations in Japan but they are still separate. Are they different from a Promotion?

Maybe I'm talking out my ass, but has Japan produced a break out wrestling star in the last ten years? Sure Bob Sapp is popular as all hell, but that is mostly because of MMA and not wrestling. Most every event is seemingly main evented by the same dudes that have been around since '96 or so in the same positions and I simply can't imagine the American wrestling public buying into a Mutoh-led promotion anymore.

Another plus for the company is that they are in good standing with Barry Bloom, a wrestling agent who represents Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Mick Foley, and quite a few others.

So the idea is that this company can get ahead by going to the past and booking up a bunch of guys that can't wrestle anymore or can't wrestle a full schedule? Color me impressed. You simply can't contend with the WWE if you aren't on television each and every week, and these guys that are up here aren't going to be able to do that.

Dreamstage Entertainment is simply a company that funds all those companies. They don't absorb other companies as in Japan guys have the company they are loyal to and also fight elsewhere time to time. This doesn't hold true for ALL wrestlers, but it does for MOST. They are different than a promotion because DSWE isn't a promotion. Zero One, Pride, etc. are the promotions.

Well your not really talking out of your ass at all saying that there hasn't been any breakout stars in the last ten years. Well actually, that's not totally correct. There have been people to be breakout stars, but not any earth shattering talent that has set the Puro world on fire if that's what you mean. Also, I agree that the American Wrestling public probably won't buy into any Mutoh led promotion, but then again he headlined ROH's biggest card in their history attendance wise(besides the 3-13 Elizabeth NJ show), and I've seen American audiences cling to stuff worse than the shit he feeds to people.......or just as bad that is.

Well unfortunately most wrestling promoter's have a problem with the booking of guys that are past their prime trying to relive old glory and not just ones in Japan. I think that DSE is under the impression that because of their relationship with this Barry Bloom that it would benefit them if they ever ventured on NA soil. Little do they know that besides maybe Goldberg and Foley.....no one cares about the rest of them. So you are on the money on this one.

Never be competition for WWE. Shoot fighting in general is boring. Adding in a couple of has beens from Pro Wrestling doesn't cure this.

The shoot fighting wouldn't be the WWE competition. DSE is the competition.....in a PRO WRESTLING capacity.

Whoever starts a company in the US is going to have to be willing to lose money for the first few years before they turn a profit. Few are willing.

I agree. Actually I think that DSE would be one of the only companies out there willing to do so. Also if DSE could do something like this and hurt the WWE we know that they would be in the good graces of Inoki FOREVER.....

Haha, you're right.

I just meant that the thread actually implies "competition" by using old, washed up WWE stars that the WWE just *used* after they wrre *already* washed up.

Besides, I don't see how Vince would be chewing his nails hearing about "PRIDE" and "Kevin Nash" teaming up.

The wrestling market is at a major LOW, right now. Even with the WWE having a full rosters, and such, they've been unable to sustain popular storylines or draw major cards. They sell out PPVs, well, the major ones, it seems, but still, mainstream notoriety has dissapeared for the WWE right now, and even the old-school, long-time fans are apathetic.

So excuse me for being less than thrilled about "Barry Bloom being on good terms!"

Well then say that next time instead of calling the thread useless. Did you even read what I posted above?
