Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 What difficulty is everyone playing on. I'm on all-pro in my Patriots franchise and I'm undefeated. I'm not sure if I should bump up the difficulty though because almost every game is very close in score.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I play with custom sliders that are pretty close to the ones for Legend. Turning on Performance EQ helps as well; it balances the teams to make for a more competitive game. It's 2006 in my franchise, and the Cardinals are the kings of the NFC at 7-2, they came back from a 24-7 deficit to beat me, with Ty Law (who I traded to them in 2005) grabbing the clinching INT. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2004 All-Pro for my Seahawks, currently in the second year I'm pretty set on this is my chance on winning the superbowl this year, after being defeated by the Bronco's 31-19.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 13, 2004 I think custom sliders with performance EQ is the way to go. I play almost exactly the same difficulty setting I think Kingpk has, and I've had a couple games get out of reach for me and had to claw back into it. After playing the first year of the franchise, I came to the conclusion the Packers have a VERY easy schedule this year if you take the MNF games out and the two games against the Vikings. Can't wait till the second year, though. This should be fun. Question for anyone here who can answer it: Can you still get primetime trophies if you play with a custom difficulty setting? Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2004 Question for anyone here who can answer it: Can you still get primetime trophies if you play with a custom difficulty setting? Yes...but your quarters have to be 5-8 minutes, and penalty settings must be either default or higher..

Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2004 Really? From something I had read the penalties had to be default or better. (I keep them default anyways)..but I guess not. But I do know for a fact quarters have to be 5-8 minutes
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted August 14, 2004 Well, went to the superbowl with my Lions and lost by a freaking field goal. The score was tied and I had the ball from a kick off. The plan was to waste the 1:30 or so minutes away. So I get the ball and juked my way to the 35ish yard line. All of a sudden, I just got a monsterous tackle placed on me. My player actually landed on his neck and rolled backwards (sort of like a handstand), a hit i've just seen for the first time. Please tell me one of you guys seen it! Anyways, my guy was injured and the ball rolled out his hands and they of course grabbed the ball, getting a field goal. Another thing, I wasted talent and draft picks on Brian Westbrook. The dude got injured THREE times in the season! His rating was 83 when I got him. Now its at 72. The injuries REALLY hurt him. It's kind of neat how that works out yet it sucks for me as an "acting GM".

But I do know for a fact quarters have to be 5-8 minutes Interesting. I switched from 10-minute quarters to 8-minute ones and I still don't get credit for my numerous shutouts (defense is always a huge part of my team's success and something I've excelled at in most football video games)

Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2004 Well the Eagles choke in the NFC Championship game yet again, so that means I'm playing Minnesotta in the Superbowl. As long as Law does his job and shuts down Moss I'll be fine.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted August 14, 2004 I'm in my second season with the Vikings and I'm being hit with injuries hard. Michael Bennett got injured again. Not really a problem since Onterrio Smith did a good job filling in last year. Except 5 carries into the game, Onterrio gets injured for the year and I'm left with some scrub as my only halfback for the next 7 weeks till Bennett comes back. I'd sign someone but I'm just barely under the salary cap so I had to trade a rookie LB with a 72 rating, but wasn't playing at all, for Amos Zaroue (Cheap and only had 1 year left on his contract). And in the same game, my 2nd option Marcus Robinson is gone for the year joining Antoine Winfield who was my top CB on the injured reserve list.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2004 This shit's too involved. I went into the first game of the first season of a franchise, and said I'd do the weekly preparations... what a mistake that was. By the time I was scheduling Wednesday, I was already getting pissed off and just wanted to play some goddamn football.

As long as Law does his job and shuts down Moss I'll be fine. So I beat the Vikings 14-13 to win the Superbowl, finishing the year undefeated (one tie against the Bills). I start the next year making only 2 moves: Ty Law traded to Miami for a cornerback and David Patten and a 2nd round draft pick for Santana Moss. The first game I was getting killed but came back in the 4th quarter to win 21-20. The next two games against Miami and Baltimore I get my ASS HANDED TO ME. What the hell is going on? Moss is the worst at dropping balls on my team and my defense lets EVERYTHING by, yet last year they stopped everything, and Law was my only loss.

Santana Moss has been very good for me, with the Jets. There have been stretches in games where he's carried the team. Stick with him, he gets better as years go by. I don't mind the in-game stuff being super realistic, but I know I wasn't drawn into the sport in the first place by who's watching films and whether the players are practicing in pads or not. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 15, 2004 Just turn weekly preparation off then, Kotz Or use one of the preps floating around out there and modify it to fit your team.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 I did turn it off, I was just commenting on how games getting too deep starts to bug me instead of being neat. Same reason I hated Knights of the Old Republic.

iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 I want to create a team and use it in a Franchise, but I don't want to use any of the guys that are already on a NFL team. What options to I have? I know using all the Free Agents is one of them, but is there a way that (much like NCAA College Football) that I can just have a team that will be "Middle of the Road" and go from there with all new created guys? It's so fucking retarded when you create a team full of Free Agents and they are STILL Free Agents when you start the Franchise. Whatever.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 In preseason, I thought the computer was supposed to start (or at least sub in) 2nd team and 3rd team players for both my team the computer team. For some reason, it always plays my starters and the CPU's starters the whole game. Anyone know for sure?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 16, 2004 The gameplay swayed me, but the franchise mode is swaying me back towards Madden. Franchise mode is a large portion of my playing and the offseason stuff hasn't impressed me. Until they improve the offseason, ESPN isn't close to replacing Madden for me.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 Ah yes, as always Madden (and any EA game) opts for fancy bells and whistles instead of the actual game itself.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 16, 2004 I hardly play the actual games in franchise mode, so the bells and whistles are a bigger concern for me.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2004 I've defeated Steve-O. Funkmaster Flex, Carmen Electra, Jamie Kennedy, and David Arquette so far for celebrities. Question 1: Are there any more? Question 2: What is the surprise I get after beating them all?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 16, 2004 I don't think there are any more... I pretty much demolished all the celebrities as well. I think Arquette was maybe the only one to have scored on me. I lucked out on a couple of them though, getting turnovers in the redzone. Urm... how was KOTOR too deep? I think Kotz just has problems with commitment
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 And in the same game, my 2nd option Marcus Robinson is gone for the year joining Antoine Winfield who was my top CB on the injured reserve list. I'm suprised you kept Winfield...I released him and his silly contract as soon as I could. You can easily replace the guy with a much cheaper rookie. Did your Marcus Robinson drop in stats after the first season? I was pretty mystefied when he went from an 86 to a 77 in my second season.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 17, 2004 Are Winfield's stats low on the game or something
