Not shocking, but much respect. As for the next one, I'm not the only person I know who's got the champagne in the cellar for when Thatcher buys the farm. Still, I'll take Ronnie for know.

Actually, he was very lucky he wasn't a victim of an OD. I heard he was a heroin addict for like 20 years.

Robert Quinne, a fixture of the late 70s NYC punk scene—as well as a founding member of Richard Hell and the Voidoids—committed suicide the other day.

I think they ment "celebrity" deaths.

I didn't see it coming.

And neither did he!

Could've been worse:

Now you have me curious.

What type of things did he say about him, were they feuding or something?

I read an interview with him about that. He quit in 1965 when the heroin started affecting his sex drive. He had a choice: drugs or women. He said he picked women.

Almost 25 years ago, Elvis Costello got into a drunken argument at some bar with one of the dudes in Crosby, Stills and Nash (I think it was either Stills or Nash). In an effort to rile him up, Costello said a number of inflammatory things, including calling Ray Charles a "blind, ignorant nigger." When word of it got out, it caused some controversy, but it died down soon enough.

Costello publically apologized repeatedly, saying that his drunken stupidity did not reflect his true intentions. The guy regrets the incident to this day, talking about it in the liner notes to the 2003 reissue of his 1980 album, Get Happy!!.

Yup. He actually got busted for possesion up here in Boston...and I don't doubt that sex drive issues would play a big part in him wanting to clean up. Last year he performed during opening day ceremonies at Fenway. He cited two things that the team had to pony up in order for him to appear: Ten grand and a date.

If I'm not mistaken, he was married at least twice and fathered something like twelve kids...but you can't blame the guy for being a little dysfunctional...

Imagine being born dirt poor and black in the south, during the Depression, to parents who never married, slowly losing your eyesight but not being able to go to a Doctor because your family is so broke, then having one of the last things you witness before going blind be your infant brother drowning in a tub...then being shipped off to a school for the blind...and then, to top it all off...having your Mother pass away and be left an orphan...

At fifteen.

Rest in peace

He had a pretty long successful life, plus he was definitely really old. This isn't a sad death at all. People can't last forever, y'know..
