Promo: Tick Tock, Tick Tock

Recommended Posts

"I wasted time, and now doth time waste me..."

As the words fade away, the image of Landon Maddix appear against the backdrop of a video screen...a screen which lights up with a clockface, it's minute hand ticking slowly around, the ticks and tocks quietly in the background.

"William Shakespeare once wrote that. It's funny...after all these years, the old British coot's words still having meaning to the likes of me. It is true that I have wasted time. Although I am only twenty years old...there are things that have passed me by...things I should have devoted more time to. Education. Being a good son...

...destroying Alan Clark."

Landon's face sours at the mere mention of Clark's name, but he quickly wipes it off.

"This issue between us has gone on for nearly half a year. HALF...a YEAR! By now, I should have finished him off. I would have done, had the SJL not folded at the most in-opportune time. I mean...picture this. The JL's most dominant superstar of 2003 and most of the latter part of 2002 finally wins the big one. He holds the SJL World Heavyweight Title...to go with his SJL European Title. He controls the company. And he has just defeated Alan Clark...for the second time. A month or two more, and no doubt I'd have crushed him like a bug."

Another sour look adorns the USJL Triple Crown Champ's face, as he shakes his head...while behind him, the ticking and tocking grows louder.

"But it was at that point we were all moved up to the SWF. In hindsight, I should have taken the time to prepare. See...right when I was at the peak of my success. Right at the VERY... MOMENT... I was set to finish Clark off for good, who comes along?

He attacks me. He attacks Clark. Clark runs off to deal with Thugg, while I end up losing track of him. I LOSE my belts in my first SWF match. I should have taken the time to ready myself. I didn't. It cost me. Then I joined up with The Unnamed. I got side-tracked with Charlie Matthews and Wild and Dangerous. I lost track of Clark once more. And by now...he had re-grouped. He took out Thugg. He won Cruiserweight gold. And my chance to rid myself of him...had gone. I have wasted time..."

With a shake of the head, Maddix's eyes seem to be a little more focused than before, as the ticking is most certainly getting louder.

"...and now, at 13th Hour, 'time doth waste me'. It took myself and Alan Clark half a year to get to this point. Now, we have just sixty minutes to render those months obsolete. In those sixty minutes, six months of passion, pride, hatred will be on display. We will fight to the point of collapse. We shall sweat to the point of dangerous weight loss. It is possible...that we may bleed...to the point that we simplay cannot continue. And all the time, we will struggle between two minds. The mind that's telling us to preserve our energy and the mind that is telling us to go all out, to end this once and for all...

The mind that wants to make sure I survive the sixty minutes...and the mind that wants to make sure Alan Clark DOESN'T survive the sixty minutes. There are no returns now. We cannot go back. Once that bell rings, we will do battle for one... solid... hour. No rest periods. No time-outs. No half-time shows. Just me... Alan...

...and time."

Looking down at the ground, Maddix skulks off...leaving the clock to tick away as the scene fades out.

ALAN CLARK.

LANDON MADDIX.

13TH HOUR.

THE SIXTY MINUTE IRONMAN MATCH FOR THE USJL TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP.

THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR...

...BUT TIME ITSELF.
