Guest Evil Blood Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 I see Kane walking out on Raw and helping Lita this week or at Summerslam. You will see Kane improving in the coming weeks but Kane does need to start winning some matches again.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Kane won't fucking turn face.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Kane is essentially at the point of no return as far as what he can play. He's a heel for as long as he has this gimmick.
Guest Evil Blood Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Kane wont turn face? You dont know that - We will just need 2 wait and see and if Kane remains a heel then he will feud with Matt Hardy.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 He can't go face for several reasons: a. it would totally kill his gimmick b. he's too ugly to be a face c. he is not marketable as a face without the mask d. Raw needs heels
Guest Evil Blood Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Kane can still be a face with the evil gimmick. Look at The Undertaker in 1990 - he was a top heel but in 1992 a top face and I bet know one he was going to be a top face.
Tawren Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 After downloading it and the HIAC match off the might K++, I must say I enjoyed Kane/Benoit. Classic? No. But definitely a really fun match. I really liked Benoit's comebacks, they were timed excellently, and Kane played the monster heel to near perfection. I also liked the false finish with Kane's chokeslam. Just a really fun match that had actual levels to it and built to a good finish. ***1/4
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 See im just as big a Taker kane mark as anyone else... People can still remember me stand against the Taker Haters and the like. BUT I am Not blinded by my biases and I acknowlegde this was a good match for someone like Kane to take on someone who was NOT a Hoss or a Giant or something other than a quite skilled world class wrestler. I wouldn't put this up there with any big deal match, but I give it the credit its due it was worth the hype it got for a title match. Even though the World title match was overshadowed by the Dx boyfriends who needed to take their little lovers spat out in a Cell. that match was good but it shouldn't have been billed OVER a World championship match.
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 It was an above average match **1/2. Both worked hard and Benoit carried Kane to his best match in probably a couple of years.
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Sorry for another post but calling the match a classic is ludicrous. It didn't have the story and the execution to be anywhere near that level. A classic match is Misawa vs Kawada (multiple matches) and in the WWE maybe Rock vs Austin WMVII or Michaels vs Ramon WMX, this wasn't even close to being the MOTY contender for WWE matches.
theintensifier Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 This Evil Blood guy doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Kane won't turn face, and it would be stupid if he did. What is Jim Ross going to say when he announces his matches "Kane beat me up, and set me on fire, but he's a good guy with morals and compassion." Also, calling any match with Kane invovled a classic is insane. And saying it was better than Benoit/Angle RR '03 is fucking stupid as hell. I thought this forum was the Smart Marks?
Guest wildpegasus Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Evil Blood, I must know what you think of Kane destroying the furniture and HBK's throat. Thank you.
Guest ManKinnd Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 This is absolutely horrible. My brain is exploding from reading some of this shit. The match was decent, but really slow and plodding at times. As someone else said, *** is a stretch and to call it as good as Benoit/Angle at the Rumble is like saying that a burger from McDonalds is as good as fresh Maine lobster.

Well, Benoit/Angle did have the nonsensical suplexes, the nonstop clothesline ducks, and no build to the finish as well as poor selling from both. ... Hmm.

There was build and Benoit did have good selling here. Yes, there were too many clothesline ducks but I don't like the word "ducks" here as it implies that it's partly the recipient of the clothesline attempt that is at fault.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 When was Benoit not selling in the match against Angle at the Rumble? I can understand you saying Angle had poor selling, but Benoit?
Bruiser Chong Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Evil blood actually seems convinced Benoit/Kane was a great match...it was just good, barely above the decent "line". He also sounds like a robot.
Corey_Lazarus Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 He is a robot. And what's with ragging on the guy for having a different opinion than the rest of you, especially when he's admitted over and over that he's biased because he loves Kane? Jesus, some of you need to get the fuck off of your thrones...
theintensifier Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Because it gets old hearing Kane is great, and Kane's matches are classic.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 I'll just assume Laz meant the guy who never wrote a sentence that included a comma or period. I'm saying that because, I've over and over and over said Kane is way too under-rated, but I've never called his matches classic. The latter fits the other guys bill, but the former fits mine.
Guest Evil Blood Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Ok I was wrong Kane never turned into a face but to me the match was a classic. I could match Kane vs Benoit over and over again.
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 look we can understand you think its a classic because Kane is one of your favorites and you would believe any match that you believe he did a good job is a classic... Markish behavior we all got and believe our favorites had classic matches.. but that doesn't mean we all would have to agree with that assestment.
Guest Evil Blood Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Kane is one of my favs and I dont say all his matches were classics. Kane has not had a classic for a while and he did at Bad Blood. I liked it you didnt and nothing can change that,
Guest nikowwf Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Nobody wants to change your opinion, but if that match is a classic then the definition of classic is greatly diluted. I can even understand if you said GREAT match, but classic? Its not going to have any lasting historical value - its not going to be anything but a match that 99% of the people that saw the show didn't even feel was the best match on the show. Also, GIMMICK POSTER is so played, so no more Kane threads, please? niko
Guest ManKinnd Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Ok, but just because you like it doesn't mean it's a classic. There has to be some good reasons to call it that, and I haven't really seen any from you. As for Benoit/Angle, the suplexes were fine because they're both suplex "masters" in storyline, the selling by Angle is questionable, yes, but not by Benoit. I'd like to see some examples please. And the finish did have build. Benoit kept reversing the ankle lock, so Kurt had to modify it to make it stronger.
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Kane never had a classic match in his life and the Rumble match isn't a Classic match either. Poor selling by Angle no extended leg work, too many suplexes, the long chinlock to burn time, no armwork before the cross face, no leg work before the ankle lock, etc. With all the suplexes they should have used back or neck submissions. The match is maybe ***1/4 and that's for reversals and because at least it was fast paced except for the long chinlocks in the middle of the match. It's a mildly entertaining match with piss poor psychology that people seem to overrate. Angle might be a great amature wrestler but he's an average technical one.
Guest nikowwf Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 The ANGLE DOESN'T SELL theory is something that been repeated so many times that people are taking it as fact. The Angle/Benoit Rumble match was 100 kinds of awesome, and even discussing it in a KANE'S CLASSIC MATCH folder is ridiculous IMO. niko
Guest 2pacallyps Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Yes the Angle match is better than the Kane match but to say that the Angle match was awesome is pushing it. Read the problems that I posted with the match, just because they did alot of suplexes and had a good counter finishing sequence didn't make the match great. It just saved the match from being poor.
Guest Evil Blood Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Ok you people may not think it was a classic but atleast you know it was a good match because it was and had me hooked. Maybe if it had a lot more hype it would have been a classic because some times to make a match a classic is by hyping it up before the match and then just living up to the hype.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 I wouldn't even call it good. It was a solid match. Nothing more nothing less.
