Time for Flair to Retire?

Recommended Posts

Should Ric Flair finally retire from the ring?

How soon?

Should he retire from the business altogether?

How should this be done?

Who should he put over on the way out?

I'm interested to know what everyone else thinks.

Randy Orton should be the one to do it. But it should be done in Flair Country and he should be able to give a goodbye speech. That should then be followed up with him being inducted into the Hall of Fame with Hulk Hogan next year.

Yes, 11 years ago, yes, as quickly as possible and no more matches, to give the short answers. Flair has been pissing on his legacy for ages now. But we all know he'll wrestle until the day he dies. Flair retiring has the same type of aura that WWF v WCW or Flair v Hogan once did -- dreams you never thought would happen basically.

He shouldn't retire from the business, because he could be a hell of a manager or as the spokesperson for someone else, but he can't wrestle anymore. his days as a credible threat are looooooooong gone.

He should be put over before leaving. I think it should be done by Triple H. Flair shouldn't be killed off when he leaves though, he should be able to give a speech. he should be gone by the time 2005 rolls around. Hell, Evolution should be split up by then as well.

Flair is 55 years old. Wrestling is about youth. He can't take bumps properly anymore and he looks like shit and is never allowed to talk. Any value he had left has been exploited by now.

He should put on the suit, walk around behind Evolution or whoever, and never wrestle again. Tahhh dahhh, I give you retired Ric Flair. He's simply too far gone to give him that 'one last shot' and quite frankly, it would be worthless for him to make anyone at this point.

Last year in that **3/4(some over rated to **** levels) should have been the final chapter in a great career.

As for now...Just don't wrestle anymore.... He shouldn't retire from the business as he is still very over and can pop a crowd and still oozes credibility just by name value. He can work Carolina House Shows if he still needs that competive drive.

Flair just looked so old last night. And exhausted in a tag match that wasn't that long. It took him a while to even leave the ring area after he was eliminated.

He should retire at WM 21 or or summerslam '05 by either Putting over Randy Orton, or being Put over by H3.Have ric then give a farewell speech on raw the night after.

We can't wait that long.

If anything...When is the next Carolina PPV/Raw?

Orton cuts a "there is this one...Legend I haven't killed yet" and he looks right at Flair and cuts a promo on him. Flair cuts a "You are just a little punk! I've forgotten more things then you will ever learn" promo on Orton...Orton calls him for a match, Flair is hesitant but the crowd urges him and he accepts to face him and Orton goes over clean.

Flair and Orton shake hands and flair quietly stays around as the heel manager ala Bobby Heenan....roving from random heels to random heels.

(Vince McMahon storms into HHH's dressing room looking very angry)

Vince: Goddamnit Hunter, your damn idol pissed all over my office! There's urine all over Paul London's multi year contract that I was about to sign, now I can't!

HHH: Well, can't you just reprint it?

Vince: No....no I don't want to now, he ruined it.

(Vince sits down next to Hunter)

Vince: Listen Hunter, when I agreed to sign Ric Flair we both agreed that it would be YOUR responsibilty to take care of him.

HHH: But I have been!!

Vince: No Hunter, he's outta control. He chewed up the seats in my limo yesterday. He also got into Linda's Prozac, it took me 4 hours to get her off the flag pole in front of the house.

HHH: But DAD!

Vince: Hunter, he has to go. I'm sorry son. Now either you get rid of him now or YOU can pay for Stephanie's next rack job, it's up to you.

HHH: Awww gee, alright.

(later that night)

Ric: (head out the window) Whoooooooo!!!! I LOVES RIDES WHERE WE GOIN' CHAMP????

HHH:......

Ric: AWWW WHAZ WRONG CHAMP!!!!

HHH: (sniff) You're a good boy Ric.

Ric: AWWW I LOVE YOU TOO CHAMP!!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!!!

HHH:Oh God, this is killing me, I can't take this anymore.

(HHH pulls over)

Ric: YEEEAH THE ONLY THING THE NATCHA BOY LIKE MOE THAN GETTIN INTO CARS.......IS GETTING OUT WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

HHH: Go now, you're free.

Ric: huh?

HHH: Go dammit go! Get outta here I don't want you anymore ya hear!!! Just...go..

(HHH runs back to the car sobbing uncontrolably and speeds away)

Ric: Well that sucks, what the hell do I do now.

(A rusty pickup truck pulls up)

Jeff Jarrett: Hey boy are you lost?

Ric:.......

Jeff: Come on get in.

Ric: Are you sure that's okay?

Jeff: Yeah, my dad lets me keep as many strays as I want.

Ric: ALRIGHT!!! The NAITCHA BOY IS BACK BABAY!!!! WHOOOOO!!!!!!!

(truck pulls away, the end)

Jarrett showing up to save the day = hilarious.

And what the hell is everyones problem with people working somewhere else? Because someones fired from WWE, that means they should starve to death and not wrestle anywhere else?

Throw me into Orton ends Flair's career for good preferably at a show in Charlotte / Greenville. Don't get wrong about Ric, I love the guy, but its time he stops wrestling. Just stick him as a manager since he's never lost his touch with cutting promos.

I like the fact that Flair is still wrestling for the "nostalgia" factor that it brings, I am a tad biased since the first ppv I ever saw was Royal Rumble 92' where he won the vacated world title I still enjoy seeing Flair on camera and involved with angles but I do agree with the majority here and do believe that his in-ring career needs to end as soon as they find a suitable way to give him the farewell he deserves

Ric Flair was the man at one time and could draw as good as Ric Flair could.

Should Ric Flair retire? No - This man busted his ass for years to get into wrestling and he may but he may not be as good as he once was but he still have some good feuds and do good promos.

Ric Flair should pull away from HHH and will become better in my view.

I would still like to see Flair wrestle some dream matches that fans have always wanted to see such as

Flair vs Kurt Angle and others/

And yet Abdullah the Butcher still wanders the world in his 70's impaling people with forks and winning world championships

The whole wrestling is for the young arguement is....getting old.

Its like once they hit 35 they are suppose to manditorially retire despite if they are physically able to go..

If a wrestler can still go and the fans still love him and he can draw then it does not matter how old he is.

Ric Flair can retire when he likes and right now is not the time so Flair will remain on Raw and I have no problems with it.

If Ric Flair was to turn face then he should have a good run as face and then put over Randy Orton in his last match.

I do feel we will see a Flair / Orton feud before Flair says goodbye.

I may agree with the Retirement for Flair however

BUT I don't agree with the age arguement. How many wrestlers of our Youth we saw and Idolized that were in their 40's and 50's in the 1980's?

Flair definately shouldn't be forced out of the business either. It should be his choice, and like so many have done lately, maybe even a very quiet choice we only hear about like on Byte this. Flair would be a awesome manager, or even better if he doesn't go into his ceisure excited voice to often, a kick ass commentator.

if Gorilla Monsoon, and Jesse Ventura can do it....

Ric Flair has been wrestling since the 70s and for him to still be apart of it all must mean he loves wrestling so much so I dont see him leaving anytime soon.

Dont hope Flair retires because I still feel he is around for a while.

I would love for Ric Flair to come down the ramp in a Royal Rumble because that would bring back so many memorys of Royal Rumble 1992.

Granted Flair is past his prime, he still looks like he really enjoys what he is doing. Personally I still find him entertaining, he is a "Real Living Legend", and can out work a lot of guys younger than him. I think he is rather building on his legacy by looking like a classic that can still go.

I think it would be nice for Ric Flair to have one final world title run before he leaves.

Ric Flair is the man and for his age to still get fans cheering him and wanting to watch him is shocking.

NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!

55 year old men should not be holding the World Title. There's a reason that Terry Funk hasn't had an upper-card title since the 70s/80s. Losing your title to a 55 yr. old man is the biggest burial job that could ever happen. Hell, people are saying HBK is to old for upper-card belts and he's a lot younger than Triple H. Ric Flair shouldn't sniff another singles title before he retires. Another short reign with Batista before the end is about as acceptable as it would get.

I honestly wonder if we're watching the same Flair wrestle. There must be somesort of filter on peoples tvs that doesn't make him look totally clueless in the ring.

I thought he was doing ok last year as a part time guy but he really can't keep up the full time pace. He's just too old and it exposes how limited he is due to age.

If Flair was to win the world title one more time the win does not need to be clean but you never know because it could happen.

Hulk Hogan got the world title for a month when he came back so could Ric Flair before he leaves and WCW had lots of old wrestlers who were champions.

Nothing wrong with old champions.
