I don't think its a terrible thing though, because as a rule its English speakers who are the most stubborn when its comes to picking up languages. Maybe if more Hispanic people continue to speak Spanish, then it might push people to pick Spanish up as a second language. Possibly, i dunno. Over here, everything tends to be bi-lingual: road signs, leaflets, tv programs, exam papers. Also when applying for certain jobs, especially in the local government, welsh office etc you are discriminated against if you don't speak Welsh. The difference being, Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world whereas Welsh is spoken by about 500,000 people world-wide. Nuts.
