The only thing I can complain about is Scarface beating Butch and Sundance. Scarface has to be one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen.

I think it's times up in the tournament. Even if it gets by this round, it faces The Godfather in the Quarter Finals, and I honestly don't think the majority of people will vote for Scarface there.

Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs and Scarface should not win. Fight Club is good, but nothing great. The other two are overrated crap. And it sadly looks like FC and RD will go through. And how the hell did Scarface beat Butch and Sundance?

 

As for why are people voting for Apocalypse Now over Citizen Kane, I must say I am surprised, though I voted for Apocalypse myself. My personal reason was that both movies I can't really flaw because I think they're both remarkable. But I chose Apocalypse because of the fact that so much went wrong with the production of it and there is no way it could have worked and yet it went on to be such an amazing piece of cinema. While I know that's not really a great way to pick a movie, it was just what I decided on.

You know, I owned both Citizen Kane (still do) and Apocalypse Now:Redux (the extended version of the film). After watching both, I can truly say that A) Citizen Kane was better and B) REdux is not made for mt generation, whose attention spans are smaller than an ant. That movie DRAGGED. Of course, I heard there is actually a 4 HOUR cut of the film out there somewhere, so hey...

To me, both personally and professionally (for lack of a better term, as I'm exhausted), I find Jaws to be one of the greatest films of the past thirty years. I am a huge fan of Spielberg's early works, and I've never been allured by The Godfather as much as everyone else. I've spent years researching Spielberg films, however. Is The Godfather a great film? Yes, one of the greatest of all time. Is Jaws a great film? Yes, one of the greatest of all time. I just happen to think it's better. Also take into account that I was exposed to Jaws years before The Godfather became more than "that big VHS box with the guy and his cat on it".

 

Besides, Jaws won't beat The Godfather, so just let me vote for it. I'd feel like I was betraying Stevie and Brucey if I didn't.
