Think about it. Knowing the Rock was just going to work Mania and Foley was going to be around for an extended period of time til Backlash, wouldn't it have made even more sense if Orton beat Rock, then beat Foley at Wrestlemania? Though it would just be adding another name to his list, it still might have given him more of a faster boost.

Discuss.

....Either way he was the one who won the match, so I don't believe it would have made any kind of difference. Plus even after WM many were still hatin' on Orton..so IMO wouldn't have made a difference.

"The Rock" is a "ACTOR" now I dont think anyone should put him over he shows up three times a year for payoffs thats all he is worth there will never be a PPV that Rock headlines that will sell his schtick is done I cant pop for him because he sold his soul for hollywood money

well you could have easily done it to add another "Victim" to Orton's Legend Killing tour but it didn't matter but wasn't the fact Foley got pinned so cleanly the reason he had "convert" to Cactus Jack?

So that important aspect of the angle would have been clearly lost...

All that matters is that Orton did those man sized bumps at Backlash and got the HHH Special Edition rub from Foley and has not dropped the ball as of yet.

He didn't sell his soul...

Do you fickle fans not realize what the rock is doing is a great thing for Wrestling?

He is wiping away the stereotype that Wrestlers are just big muscleheads grunting...because of him, other workers are getting work in movies, where with that money and joining those unions they are able to support their families and still do what they love.

The Rock didn't sell his soul by making movies...It's not any different from TV Actors moving onto the Big Screen...Is Tom Hanks a Sell out because he stopped making Bosom Buddies and made Great movies instead.

The Rock and everyone else, are actors. Hollywood was just a natural progression for him.

He comes back and puts EVERYONE over as much as he can from Hurricane, Brock, Eugene and gets others over as big heels like Coach....That's respect and honor that many in this shady business doesn't have anymore.

Exactly, which is why on his new t-shirt both Foley and Cactus Jack are listed.

And I also belive that The Rock will be added to that list :/. I may be just me, but I think eventually there will be some Rock/Orton confrontation where Orton will go over...

I think Randy Orton is established enough; that Rock doesn't need to put him over and give a rub.

Yet he came out to Mankind's music, was announced as Mick Foley, and used Mr. Socko.

Sorry, but Cactus Jack died at No Way Out 2000. We've gotten Mick Foley ever since.

a decent point but...Rock is a sellout

I think it would have been too obvious that the Rock is the guy they go to get the new guy over, so an Orton win wouldn't have done much good.

If they have Rock come back soon, he should win a few matches to show he hasn't gone soft.

I don't think that Orton would have.

No matter how many legends he kills, he is unable to be gotten over.

He beat Mick Foley at Backlash. Do the casual fans even remember his win?

<_< Oh, so he hasn't gotten over?

I quite clearly remember him getting booed during last week.

I quite clearly remember him getting booed the week before.

I quite clearly remember him getting booed since he beat Foley.

And I quite clearly am sure that these boos aren't just the X-Pac heat type.

...hm, getting over these days must mean you have to get Austin '97 like pops or boos like Vince did during his insane heel days.

Oh excuse me then, that would then mean no one on the entire roster is over.

And considering wins and loses don't really matter these days in professional wrestling, I doubt anyone would because of that.

Once AGAIN!

IB proves he can get even dumber.

I'll give him his heat, but those wins don't stay in people's minds when he's not mentioning them every promo (not that there's anything wrong with that).

How ya figure? All Orton did for 3 months was torment Foley.

The marks remember because they love Mick Foley.

So yet ANOTHER idiotic statement by IB.

Maybe it's just because I don't like Orton.

Yeah, that has to be it.

No that you said Orton wasn't over because the fans don't remember the match because he doesn't talk about it.

Does Triple H remind people he beat The Rock at SummerSlam 1998? Which was "HIS" star making match? No he doesn't...The fans know he has a reputation of winning...Just like Orton is developing...orton doesn't have to repeat it.

The fact that Orton is overshadowed by larger/more talented wrestlers in Evolution and his constant "Diamond in the rough" type references hold him down.

Perceptions would change dramatically if he broke away from Evolution and started winning matches on his own.

I dont think it would have made much of a difference who he pinned in the tag match, except that it would have changed the build up with Foley if he had pinned The Rock instead.

I actually think that it would have helped Orton more if had had lost the last match to Foley. Orton would have gotten respect for the beating anyway and the ending just seemed silly after how much damage Foley did in the match.

I understand why Orton was put over in the match, but after watching it, it was silly for him to win it out of nowhere. This made it look like a 'forced down my throat' push. Even though it was not Orton's fault, I would tolerate him better if he had lost that match or won it in a different way.

No because who was the feud based around? Orton and Foley plus the feud was gonna carry over so it'd be pointless. Now lets say Foley pinned Batista or Flair, Orton could have came out and said Foley didn't pin me bullshit or Foley could have came out the next time and said "yeah even through the connection won I'm not happy because I didn't pin that bitch Orton" kind of promo. So it makes all kind of sense that Orton would pin Foley.

You know what I miss? The REAL Cactus Jack, not the toned down castrated "Cactus" that's runs around in the WWE.

Also, no matter how much the WWE works with Orton, he'll never truly be over unless he gets a fucking personality and develops some god-damn depth to his character.

um right...because he wasn't over the last few weeks...idiot.
