Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 HHH Kane Bischoff HBK Eugene Orton *Six* people who are given more importance than Benoit. It's pathetic. You can't excuse that and you can't dismiss it. I must have missed all those Orton, Bischoff & Kane main events. HBK is out of the picture for the moment. Eugene is only as important as the friends who help him, primarily Benoit or Rock. That leaves HHH, and that won't ever change.

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 I really don't understand how this all is supposed to help Benoits case. Actually, I don't even know what you are doing besides telling us we have to accept it. Because every other situation is worse. Complaining about how he is being booked is one thing, but most of the people in this folder these days seem to be complaining about Benoit being champion. That if he loses the belt, all of these problems simply go away. Besides, at least he beats everybody. That's something. The in-ring product is what is important, moreso than this extra-curricular stuff. So Kane gets more screentime on weeks Benoit isn't actual wrestling do to this terrible Lita angle. That still doesn't mean people see him as actually standing a chance at beating Benoit. You don't go to Spider-Man to see Spidey yap with MJ for 2 hours. You go to see him fight Dr. Octopus. The payoff is what people remember, and thus far Benoit's beaten HHH, HBK & Orton quite convincingly. These are guys who almost never lose, except to each other. Guest Loss Report post Posted June 23, 2004 The payoff IS what people remember, and most people watch RAW and remember all the names Rudo mentioned before Benoit. Since he's champion, the show should be about him and his challenges, with no one else getting more time on screen. That's not happening. The Wrestlemania XX finish changed nothing. It was transparent. All it did was switch the belt to someone different, but everyone is still in the exact same place they were before the show.

I don't think I agree with that. I think they ought to make it like a special honor if the world champion decides to grace the show. I don't think it would be interesting if every show revolved around him, just like it wasn't when it revolved around HHH. However, they never even treat his appearances as anything special, so he comes off as just another guy on the roster, and a guy like the Rock comes off as Supergod. There are like 3 storylines around Kane at the moment . . . any around Benoit?
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 There is something to perhaps being a champion and losing it then regaining it. Bret Hart's first title reign was ok then losing it to Yoko, only to regain it back and holding it for a while. You could see the second time round that Bret Hart was a Main eventer whereas Bret Hart at and during his first reign was just a year shy of getting out of tag teaming and midcarding as a IC champ. Now I don't believe this is the case with Benoit since he was Main event material for a good while now. But I can see where the arguement can be made. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 I must have missed all those Orton, Bischoff & Kane main events. HBK is out of the picture for the moment. Eugene is only as important as the friends who help him, primarily Benoit or Rock. Main Events don't indicate importance - how much TV time is dedicated to wrestlers/performers does. It just-so-happens that a lot of the time TV time is dedicated to building up the main event... In Benoits case, however, that is not true. All the guys I mentioned get _talked about_ more by JR and King and are featured more prominently than Benoit. As Loss said, those guys are on everyones minds before Benoit. Well what do you see as a solution RRR? Who would you have him up against and what story would it be pushing? That's a loaded question considering they've done relatively nothing for him or his feuds for the past few months, so there's no foundation to build upon. Because every other situation is worse. "Best of the Worst" isn't a good point; it's still bad Complaining about how he is being booked is one thing, but most of the people in this folder these days seem to be complaining about Benoit being champion. That if he loses the belt, all of these problems simply go away. I don't see that as the case - I see it as (most) people being frustrated that ever since Benoit has been "given the ball" he's been sitting on the bench while the game gets played infront of him. People want him to be the main guy - and that doesn't mean 30 minute promos and the whole show about him and JR and King talking about him during every match - what it DOES mean, however, is that if he isn't getting that, then NO ONE ELSE SHOULD because it makes him look bad. Besides, at least he beats everybody. That's something. The in-ring product is what is important, moreso than this extra-curricular stuff. Yes, because I really enjoy his dozen matches (in some form) against Flair. Boy-o-Boy, can I have another tag match, sir? So Kane gets more screentime on weeks Benoit isn't actual wrestling do to this terrible Lita angle. That still doesn't mean people see him as actually standing a chance at beating Benoit. When he is in the same place now as he was before? And he beat HBK and HHH in 3-ways and Orton in a tag - big man.
