TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 This week on Between the Ropes, brought to you by ProFigures.com and TNA Impact Wrestling on Fox Sports Net, Fritz and Vito DeNucci welcomed former D’Lo Brown to talk about his return to TNA and other matters in the world of professional wrestling. The interview began with talk about how D’Lo felt about working with TNA, and he said that after the first anniversary, it was like getting over a hurdle. Now they have a second television program. He was asked about the way the people in the locker room were feeling and he said that the mood is upbeat and they feel that something tremendous is about to happen, and they will become a bigger player in the world of professional wrestling. He said that people are jovial because they lasted two years when some people thought it would be lucky to last two weeks. D’Lo was asked about what it was like to see Jeff Hardy wrestling again. He said that it was a good thing to have someone with name value, and it is better for D’Lo because he is friends with Jeff. D’Lo was asked about whether he has been utilized properly based upon his name recognition, and he says that he feels like his role will be increased because he does not have to worry about any current obligations in Japan . He feels that he can use his name recognition to improve the image of the company in the next few weeks. D’Lo said that his work in Japan hindered some of the things that he could do with TNA, and now things will change. He feels that the company is behind the character of D’Lo Brown, and his exposure will increase over time. The hosts asked D’Lo what the workers are thinking about now and whether they consider the WWE to be competition right now. He said that they feel that they are their own competition and they try to put on the best show possible. He does not think that they are trying to compete with the WWE right now, but as they grow they could become a ‘big fish’. He brought up how a small company in Philadelphia named ECW was able to revolutionize the business. D’Lo was asked about the ‘family oriented’ focus of the program and whether he thinks that it will affect the product. He feels that they are the opposite of WWE since they are trying to put on a good family program, and it is an option for fans that might be turned off by some of the things being done by the WWE. He said that the important thing is wrestling. D’Lo was asked about his ties to Chicago and he revealed that he is a Cubs fan to the joy of Fritz and the dismay of Vito, and D’Lo said that Cubs fans don’t care if they lose because they are the Cubs. D’Lo discussed how he talks with some of the wrestlers about the exposure with up to 80 million people who get Impact, and that the wrestlers who have been involved in a product on a global basis have talked to those who are not familiar with that exposure. He said that they need to make sure that they put on the best product so the audience stays with them, and they need to deal with the pressure when the red light goes on. Eventually, it will become second nature for them. D’Lo mentioned that you don’t get tired with the travel since they have to come from Nashville to Orlando , but you feel it the next day. He mentioned that there are rumors of house shows, but they have been there since day one. He would love to see it become a touring company to allow fans in other cities to see the product. He was asked about the time slot on Fox Sports Net, and he feels that the time slot could be changed, but you take the hand that is dealt you and you put on the best program. Once the program does well and draws good ratings, you will get a better spot. D’Lo feels that they will get a better time slot because the show is doing better than what was on at that time before Impact started. D’Lo was asked about working with Monty Brown, and he feels that Monty is a great competitor, and Monty improves every day in the ring and with his promos. D’Lo feels that Monty will be a player and could become one of the better wrestlers in the company. However, he does feel that he has to worry about a man who wears cheetah pants. D’Lo suggested that he might have to bring out the chest protector from the closet. He did not like the chest protector so much because he feared that he would become another Iron Mike Sharpe. He feels that it became a great gimmick and thanks Vince Russo and Jim Ross for putting that idea over. He said that people in business suits would come up to him in airports and ask him why he would wear the chest protector. He says that people still come to him and ask him if his chest is OK. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Good to see TNA is going to try to keep new faces coming into the Main Event. Monte and D-Lo should work well together, and hopefully that will launch them to bigger things.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Yeah....if they go ahead and put the belt on Truth (which they should), D'Lo will be a great person to use to get Monty up to the ME level after a credible feud. After seeing this feud begin, I'm thinking more and more that they are going to put the belt on Truth, because I can't see them sacrificing Monty to D'Lo, as much as I like D'Lo. Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I don't know if i want to see monte and truth go at it agian. Monte's improved since the earlydays, but I still don't think it'd be that good. An odd note, the reason Monte was fired to begin with was for dropping truth on his head. TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Yeah, that is very true. I wonder if Truth would be leary about working with him. I think I'm just intrigued by the match up since its fresh blood to the ME scene, but we all know that if they ran that feud, it'd just take a back seat to Jarrett/Russo part 89. Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted June 24, 2004 This may not be PC to notice, but if Truth, Monte, and D-Lo are all in the ME scene, that will have to be the first time that a major wrestling company has had that many black guys at the top of the card. TNA should be applauded for that, if nothing else.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 so is this stuff still only on PPV or does it actually come on cable now? I've really been wanting to see it but I can't see myself paying 10 bucks a week for it...
Guest JacK Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Yeah they have a spot on FSN at like 3pm or some such hour on it's affiliates or some such jazz. And it'd be pretty cool to see Monty vs Truth, if only for the history factor they could actually play up, instead of around like the WWE does. It'd make for some sort of continuity . . . they could have Brown cutting promo's about how his goal has been to build himself up to where he was before he left, and Truth saying how he's still the number one guy; which should work since most people love the cocky face-Truth.
