Now that I really think about it (in the other thread, I did a knee jerk reaction and said IWA:MS), there are lots of groups that are right up there.

Revolution Pro needs more love in this world. Really, most SoCal feds do, they are quite great. I love the style most of the SoCal feds bring and they have an incredibly talented crop of wrestlers putting on weekly incredible matches.

On the other hand, we have the East Coast which, while good, I feel is very overrated. Particularily ROH. ROH is definitely good, but as great as people make it out to be? I don't really think so. CZW is good but is often hard to get in to and many matches just come off as lethargic and not as good as they have the potential to be. I haven't seen much newer JAPW so I can't comment. USA-PRO has about 9000 matches per show, most of which suck.

The other group I sort indies into is Miscellaneous: this is IWA:MS, NWA:Wildside, NWA:TNA, Stampede, Border City, NWA:Florida, OVW and just any other random indy. Out of these, I'd consider IWA:MS, NWA:Wildside, OVW, and TNA the only real contenders. TNA isn't really that good, full of short matches with bad endings and inconsistent storylines. Wildside is good from a storyline standpoint, but aside from the usual few (Ray Gordy, Slim J, basically the upper echelon of Wildside) the wrestling isn't that good. OVW is good for southern style and has solid storylines, as well as the occassional classic match (Dinsmore's stuff in 2003, particularily). IWA:MS is just chock full of assorted styles and great storylines.

The top contenders (in my mind) :

Revolution Pro

Ohio Valley Wrestling

IWA:MS

ROH

Pro Wrestling Guerilla

My vote? IWA:MS. They have a great roster and have all different kinds of styles. They take the best of the indy scene and churn out classics. Need an example? "A Shot of Southern Comfort" is one of my favorite shows in years. It is the IWA:MS tag title tournament show and has tons of great matches stacked on top of each other. IWA:MS also runs incredibly consistently, making it often hard to choose which tapes to buy. Best indy out there.

Second place for me is PWG. They are mixing East/West coasts and doing it exceptionally well. Just look at the card for "Reason for the Season" and you will see what I mean. My only complaint is that many of the matches that look potentially great go too short (AmDrag/Quance, Puma/Quance, for example) but that is a small thing and when coupled with some of the great stuff PWG has done, a minor issue.

And in a not-so-distant third, I say ROH. ROH has produced some of the best matches the indy scene has ever produced (AmDrag/London, for example) but on the same hand, done some really bad stuff. Pushing Homicide, for example. ROH often comes across as a bad mix of "puro wannabe" and "sports entertainment", which I feel really hurts it. Still, some very good stuff on occassion.

I haven't seen much of the many indies I'd like to see, but it's RoH all the way.
