spman 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Has Kurt Angle ever gone *****? I'll just pretend that was a joke. Why? Angle is an awesome worker, and it's totally not out of the realm of possibility that he could work a ***** match.
Guest Ray Report post Posted June 30, 2004 "Angle is an awesome worker" Awesome is a bit much. "and it's totally not out of the realm of possibility that he could work a ***** match. " For me it is. I've never seen him do anything on the level of the best matches I've seen. ***** represents wrestling at it's highest point. I can't say I've seen him reach that point. Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I'd say Angle's best match ever was the one with Austin at Summerslam '01 was close, but still no cigar. Having a non-clean finish pretty much disqualifies any match from being considered for all-time greatness. (Not unfairly trashing Kurt, he's one of my favorite American wrestlers today, but he hasn't ever had that one definitive match.)
Guest bigdiswrestling Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I disagree... From memory, Angle has had 2 5 Star matches: Royal Rumble 2003: WWE Title Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit Smackdown Sept, 2003: WWE Title Iron Man Match Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar Both of these matches would keep any fan on their feet, and are classics to me... Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Smackdown Sept, 2003: WWE Title Iron Man Match Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar This was a *** match at best. Terribly paced match that almost everyone agrees was completely terrible. Angle/Lesnar didn't have the first clue on how to fill an hour's worth of wrestling so they spent a ton of time stalling. You can't justify it being 5* no matter how you look at it because at least 15 minutes of it are missing. Angle also works over the right leg and then puts the anklelock on the left. Right there are enough reasons to knock it to sub 4.
