So . . .

Recommended Posts

I don't get the whole "this is the place" thing, that they mark Temple Square with "This is the place" or whatever. Does every other block of town say "This is not the place" "This was almost the place" "gettin' warmer" "near the place" "okay now you're getting colder"?

I've never understood the concept of basing an entire religion on a golden tablet that was supposedly written by an angel, which apparently NOBODY ALIVE HAS EVER SEEN. (The tablet, not the angel.)

Practically speaking you could say the same about Moses. Who else saw that damned burning bush?

I'm no friend of the Mormons, not in the least. But the main reason they're catching so much flak is because they're a more recent religion. I mean .. two hundred years, that's nothing compared to every major world religion.

Maybe one day the solar system will be ruled by mormons and my ancestors will wheep because they cannot go commando anymore. What a bleak future. On the upside: Loads of wives for one husband.

I couldn't give less of a fuck about any religion that makes its believers keep their kids from getting lifesaving medical treatments.

I'm not real big on Christian scientists. I've witnessed some amazing things, but God doesn't limit Himself to one way to work. Medicine is a gift. Doctors are a gift. Use them.

Not to mention Joseph Smith claimed to have translated the "Book of Abraham." Funny thing how the book was lost for a long time, and then rediscovered in Illinois (I think). The book fit Joseph Smith's description to a T...

Except it was the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

Pure Genius.

The best name for a religious group is 'presbytarians'. You have to say it in a Lancashire accent to get the full effect, I think.

I'm a Presbyterian. What's a Lancashire accent? I'm guessing that's pronounced "lankersheer"?

Jingus, it's closer to a D than a T isn't it? Like, daoism? Somebody said it as if it was a philosophy concerned with Lake Tahoe and I laughed.

I can't really describe it better than that. A cornish accent also works. Presbytayriun.
