I think it should be noted to for everyone saying 'he should of just walked to first' that he WAS walking to first, before Vtek involved himself.

Skipping over the ARod/Varitek part (which has already been beaten into the ground sufficiently) does anyone know what Kapler was doing in the scrum to cause Sturtz to pull him out by his neck? Or was it just an arbitrary thing?

 

Personally, I wish Nixon & Ortiz had stayed out of it, Kapler vs. Sturtz would be a pretty good match-up, and it seemed that both guys wanted to really go.

No, hockey players are the best fighters. Baseball 'fights' that involve any real punches (such as yesterday's) are the exception to the rule.

Why can't Yankee fans entertain the idea that A-Rod, like the rest of his teammates, have become so captivated by this bitter rivalry that they'll blow every single thing out of proportion just to add another chapter to it?

Personally, I saw it coming as soon as they flashed to Bronson smirking at A-Rod. I don't know if it was or not, but when a player looks up and sees the pitcher that just hit him smirking at him, he's probably going to believe there was intent.

 

Personally, I wish Nixon & Ortiz had stayed out of it, Kapler vs. Sturtz would be a pretty good match-up, and it seemed that both guys wanted to really go.

 

And you have to live with the indignity of knowing that the Red Sox felt they had to triple team Tanyon Sturtze.

On the flip side, you could tell that Rivera was gonna blow it from the very beginning of the ninth. It wasn't just his standard "Wettleland" inning that he comes out with every once in a while.

From what I saw Kapler was on the outside of the skirmish trying to get in, Sturtze came in from the other side and threw on a choke, which made Ortiz and I think Manny come over to help. If I saw my teammate with an arm around his throat like that I'd be coming over to help too.

He didn't say fuck you until Varitek came over, he was walking down to first giving the pitcher a glare like anyone who felt they were hit intentionally would. Vtek came over said something, which apparently if you ask a Sox fan was sweet little nothings, Arod THEN took exception and turned his attention to Vtek.

Was he yelling Fuck you to the pitcher or Varitek? It originally looked like it was Arroyo, but then they did the wide shot and Tek was actually more in the firection he was looking at.

You know shit about lifting and fighting. When you first lose your balance in a real fight, you have to center up your gravity. You have to get lower to get a good lift in, and Varitek wasn't low enough nor centered enough. He came back down with his feet wider and ready to throw.

 

Face hits are easy to guard against, so A-Rod would havew done very little damage there if he wanted to keep in conrtol.

Yeah because I call not being able to escape an open headlock controlling a fight. You can throw all your center of gravity shit out the window considering his first attempt showed he just didn't have the power to counter with. His head was open, he had no counter, that's not control.

No I don't, but I'm not trying to justify anyone's actions saying he was, like um.....oh yeah you. I'm saying what I saw, which was him not looking to charge at all, he was going to first base until Vtek came up. Trying to say he did something because of something that might of happened, although we'll never know despite basic reason and logic telling us otherwise, so that makes it ok.....well that's just dumb.

 

And the second part of that says it all, your going against what is there to make nothing more than an assumption. Your assuming Vtek didn't say anything to incite things when we clearly saw Arod go from upset to pissed right when Vtek says something. Your assuming Arod would flip out at something simple when something simple doesn't fit the situation at all. If Vtek was just trying to ease the situation, why did it completely escalate when he got involved? Your ignoring logic to make ASSUMPTIONS, and then your basing an arguement on it.

A-Rod overreacted, which included CHALLENGING VARITEK TO FIGHT and off we went.
