Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 Went to the Smackdown houseshow last night, here's a report. Live From Winston-Salem, NC. Got to the LJVM Coliseum around 5:40 (Doors opened at 6). Talked wrestling with a few marks there (who for the most part were big Undertaker fans). Jamie Noble walked by me, was going to get an autograph, but by the time I realized it was him, he had already vanished. Not many people realized it was him because he looked like everybody else there. When the doors opened, Me and my brother went past the Souvenior stand (bought a Word Life Shirt, my brother got an RVD and Rey shirt). and went to our ringside seat to await the start of the show. 1st Match: Rey Mysterio, Funaki, Spike VS Chavo, Jamie Noble, Shannon Moore. Chavo came out first to a lot of boos. Most of the others got a few cheers and boos (cept Shannon Moore, who got a hometown pop). Rey got a loud pop on his entrance (Tho the woman beside me kept wondering if that really was the real Rey). This was a good little cruiserweigh match althou your face in peril role was played by Spike. Interesting exchange with me and Shannon Moore. Everybody was booing Chavo in the ring when Moore turned around and yelled "What about me!" in which I said "You're not Raven!". Finish came when everybody but Chavo and Rey Plancha'd outside, Rey and Chavo fought in the ring, Rey hits the 619 and the West Coast Pop for the win. 2nd Match: Luther Reigns vs Charlie Haas. Luther wheeled out Kurt Angle for this match. Luther dominated most of the match, then Haas made a comeback. Angle tried interfering which brought Jackie to pull him off the apron. Angle grabbed her hair (Which prompted somebody behind me to yell "Pull her Weave out!"). Haas got distracted and allowed Luther to win. Luther basically looks like Goldberg if he had hair (and has about half the talent he does) 3rd Match: Mark Jindrak VS Scotty 2 Hotty Bout the best thing Jindrak has is Teddy Long as his manager. His character acts like a mix between Rick Rude and Lex Luger, which I yelled at him that he was not any of them. Teddy Long jawed with a fan, which was the funnest part of the match. Pretty bland if you ask me. 4th Match. Kenzo Suzuki VS Billy Gunn Word of Advice! Evil Japanese Wrestlers hate when you call them "Hong Kong Phooey". Kaz Hayashi got pissed at me when I called him that during a Nitro/Thunder Taping here, and Kenzo spit at me from the ring when I yelled it out. Didn't see this match as I went and got some water from the concession stand, tho I'm sure I didn't miss much. 5th Match Mordecai VS Bob Holly Bob Holly hates being called Sparky. Not much of a good match, tho they did only blow one spot. Mordecai looks like Shane Douglas a little. Tony Chimel came out to try and pimp the Shopzone stand, which brought out Paul Heyman. Tried to get an ECW chant going but to no avail. Heyman then brought out your new WWE Champion....Bradshaw! I don't know why, but I kind of like Bradshaw's character, in an old school heel type of way. Insulted the fans, told one mexican guy holding an Eddie shirt "You may be good at climbing fences but stay behind that one!". Eddie runs down for the beatdown, which brings out the Dudleys. Bradshaw and they Dudleys beat up Eddie which brings Cena for the save. Cena gets beatdown, and out comes Angle, who intro's the next match. 6th Match: John Cena VS Booker T (for the US Title) Booker dominates, then Cena hits the FU for the win, lasted about 30 seconds. Cena rapped about NC with a kid who was sitting beside me. Intermission. 7th Match: London and Kidman VS FBI VS Bashams VS Akio and Sakoda (elimination match). This was a good little match. After seeing London, I now subscribe to the theory that the Cruiserweight division could use more of him. Fun little bit as Stamboli and Danny Basham were in, Basham went to tag in London or Kidman, who jump from the apron. He then goes to tag in Doug who then jumps down, complaining of a cramp. Akio and Sakoda hit a sweet double dropkick. FBI wins after pinning the Bashams. 8th Match: RVD vs Rene Dupree. RVD was over with the crowd. Rene could be a good heel in a couple of years. Basic match with RVD and Rene hitting their usual spots (including the DANCE~!) RVD wins with the frog splash. 9th Match: Bikini Contest Torrie Wilson, Jackie, Dawn Marie Torrie won, tho I liked Jackie's routine better. They playfully spanked each other afterwards, so it wasn't so bad. 10th Match: Bradshaw and The Dudleys Vs Eddie Guerrero and Mystery Opponent. Bradshaw and The Dudleys came out first, then Eddie. B & D's waited in the ring for Eddie to come in the ring, but Eddie brought out his mystery partner....THE UNDERTAKER! The pop for him was deafening. Bradshaw and The Dudleys ran from the ring. Bradshaw tried to get The Undertaker to leave, but he wouldn't. D'Von told Eddie he was sorry for what they did. Bubba Ray told Taker to do the right thing and leave, but when he started towards Bubba, he ran away and said "This means no I guess". The basic story of the match was that everybody wanted to fight Eddie, but nobody wanted Taker. Good match with Eddie playing Ricky Morton. Taker gets the hot tag, cleans house and finishes Bradshaw off with the tombstone. Taker celebrates in the ring as Eddie goes to leave. Taker calls Eddie back, who comes back in scared. Taker then gives him the belt and shakes his hand. Eddie Celebrates, and throws the belt down at Bradshaw, and walks out. Funny bit after the show was over, as Bradshaw and Dudleys talked about how much pain they was in (Which Bradshaw stating he can't feel his left nut). Then the Dudleys got up and jawed with some fans near by. I turned around and asked Tony Chimel for a roll of tape that Bubba Ray had thrown out earlier, and he got pissed and yelled No at me. All in all, it was a pretty decent show, the place was maybe 3/4 of the way full on the lower level, so there was probably about 5,000 people there.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 I'm assuming Mordecai, Kenzo, and Jindrak won their matches? Btw, thanks for the recap.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 "Bob Holly hates being called Sparky." They need to give him the Shockmaster gimmick, and that could be his nickname. "DON'T CALL ME SPAAAAAARKY!"

Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted June 29, 2004 So Bradshaw goes over Eddy for the WWE title, and then you have Undertaker pin him the next night? Couldn't he have just pinned one of the Dudleys?
Guest Fook Report post Posted June 29, 2004 It's a house show, not tv, so it doesn't matter. And even if it was on SD, Taker's high enough on the card to realistically pin the champion in a tag match.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 They should have given Shannon Moore the win in the opener. Have him pin Spike or Funaki.

Detox 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Luther basically looks like Goldberg if he had hair (and has about half the talent he does) well if he has half the talent of goldberg than he must have absolutely zero talent because goldberg is the most overrated wrestler in the history of pro wrestling
