Guest ISJ981 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 It looks like RoH's shows for the Death Before Dishonor doubleshot have taken shape. This is what they look like according to Dave Meltzer... 7/23 in Wisconsin: 1. Samoa Joe vs. Homicide for the ROH Title 2. Second City Saints (Punk and Cabana) vs. The Briscoes 2/3 Falls for ROH Tag Titles 3. Doug Williams vs. Alex Shelley 4. Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, and Jack Evans vs. Matt Stryker, John Walters, and Jimmy Jacobs 5. Bryan Danielson vs. Rocky Romero Plus, also appearing are Ricky Steamboat, Ace Steel, Dan Maff, BJ Whitmer, Trent Acid, Chad Collyer, Matt Sydal, Shawn Daivari, and others. 7/24 in Illinois: 1. Samoa Joe vs. Colt Cabana for the ROH Title 2. Second City Saints (Punk and Steel) vs. Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer in a streetfight 3. Homicide and Rocky Romero vs. The Briscoes 4. Doug Williams vs. Austin Aries 5. Bryan Danielson vs. John Walters Wow. Just wow. It looks like these two cards are just loaded with great matches and talent. It's looking like the Briscoes are a lock to be Samoa Joe's partners on 7/17 as they are taking on Homicide/Romero on 7/24. I can't wait for these to be released on VHS, they look like must buy shows.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Alex Shelley vs. Doug Williams on 7/23 is the only match that really interests me. Homicide vs. Samoa Joe was good the first hundred times I saw it as was the series between the Briscoe Brothers, Second City Saints, and Prophecy. Bryan Danielson vs. Rocky Romero should be a stiff contest, but stiff doesn't always equal good so I'll have to wait and hear how good it was. Colt Cabana vs. Samoa Joe should be a squash, after all of the more talented guys Samoa Joe has defeated Colt Cabana should be like a fly to him. Bryan Danielson vs. John Walters should be interesting as well, hopefully they keep it on the mat.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 If Rocky Romero Vs. Danielson is half as good as their Inoki Dojo match it'll be one to remember. Williams Vs. Shelley should be amazing too...
Guest ISJ981 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 I'm loving the tag scene right now in RoH, partially because I love tag team wrestling. The other part is that RoH really seems to be making a good, solid tag division which is pumping out good matches. Probably why I'm liking these cards so much. I also think that Williams/Aries will be very, VERY good. Aries has been able to turn it up as of late, specifically when you look at his matchup with AmDrag from 6/24. While I do think that Colt/Joe is looking a bit on the "competitive squash" side, it does make sense because Colt did pin him during the 6 man match on 6/24. It's only fair to reward him with a shot against Joe for the belt (in a booking point of view). Danielson is pretty much gold against anybody he works with now. I've heard good things about his Inoki Dojo match with Romero and I can't help but think that Walters will be a good matchup for him.

Guest Benno Report post Posted July 1, 2004 samoa joe is still headlining? christ...i thought roh was about work rate and so called "smart fans"..this guy is over because hes big and is charasmatic, he's average in the ring..
Guest midnight_burn Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Despite all ROH's problems they still manage to put on a great-looking in-ring product, both nights sound good and they're not even the finished cards yet. I'm definately looking forward to the pair of Williams' matches against Shelley & Aries as well as Briscoes/SCS 2/3 falls, and from what i've heard Danielson/Romero should be very good as well (i have the Inoki Dojo tape and their first match sitting here on my desk, i should really get around to watching it sometime soon). Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Joe is a great worker.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 NM: Mike Johnson reported Danielson is getting his shot at Joe 8-28 in Boston. So you will get to see it live, be happy On the 7-23 card, 3 out of the 5 are surefire fabulous matches, Joe-Cide is off and on, and the 6-man should be fun. If Joe and Cide have a good night, and the other matches are given appropriate time, 7-23 could have 4 ****+ matches. Regarding Romero and Danielson....Danielson is the best worker on the planet, and Romero is a top 5 US indy worker...it is going to be fucking great. Their dojo match was like 12 minutes and fucking awesome, I expect this to get 20-25 and be a MOTYC. On 7-24, Aries-Williams and Walters-Dragon should be great on night 2, Cabana-Joe will be super fun with a hot crowd supporting Cabana in a first-ever match, the Briscoes match looks great...these cards both look great for workrate fans. Guest Markingout Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Romero vs. Danielson... *drools*. That is going to rock. I can't wait for Shelley vs. Williams, imagine the chains in that match. The first SCS vs Briscoes matches was probably my favorite tag match of all year. Thier 2/3 falls match will probably be great. 7/24 looks good, but cannot compare too 7/23. Guest Markingout Report post Posted July 2, 2004 When the ROH site comes back up, they will probably have news on when tapes will be realeased.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Distribution will be through themselves, they are opening (have opened) a company named ROH Video. They are actually taking phone orders now in the runup to the opening of their site. The number is there at www.rohwrestling.com. They plan on having every single show out by 7-17.
