Has anyone here watched the original movie, "Dune" from the 80's, and then the "Dune" remake from recently, and then the sequel to that, "Children of Dune"?

My father has the original version recorded on videotape from 1988. We also have the remake version on 3-disk DVD, and the sequel on 2-disk DVD, Children of Dune.

But, I just wanna ask you guys here if you may have heard of these movies, because they're pretty cool.

I didn't like the original Dune movie except for Captain Picard being in it. The remake did a great job of being more faithful to the book (which is pretty damn long IMO). Haven't seen Children of Dune yet, how is it?

I've seen all three. The first one was boring as hell and hard to follow. The Scifi remake was easier to enjoy (altough Sting was 100x better than the new guy). Children of Dune is the best of the three with great performances by all (and a small role by Susan Sarandon). I recommend it, but you HAVE to see Dune first or CoD is almost impossible to follow.

I have the 2 disc version of the Sci Fi movie, is it worth getting the 3 disc version?

Ian McNease did a GREAT job playing the role of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. I constantly enjoy all of his scenes in the Dune remake & Children of Dune.

Also, the woman who plays the role of grown up Alia does a great job of playing the evilish insane dictator Alia.

Agreed. Did that win best original mini-series?

Do you have Dune or Children of Dune? Cause "Children" was only two disks, wherease I'm pretty sure "Dune" was only released in a 3-disk set.

I never saw the original movie, but I own both sci-fi versions (Dune and Children) and think that they are excellent. I also remember Dune being the first televised movie that got a trailer shown in theaters.
