Futurama/Family Guy block

Recommended Posts

I just have a quick question, does anyone know why exactly they always seem to change the timeslot of the two?

One comes on at 11 whereas the other 11:30 when I get used to that...weeks later they switch. When I finally get used to that...they switch again. Tonight Family guy now once again comes on before Futurama. It's just...odd, and I was wondering why they didn't just stay the same?

This has never happened to me. My family guy has been coming on at 11:30 for the last 6 months.

Edit: Well I'll be damned, they did switch it.

I think they do it to freshen up the line up so it doesn't get to stale. Thats just my guess through.

Over the course of fall 2003 to now: Futurama at 10, Family Guy at 10.30. This was changed to Family Guy at 10 and Futurama at 10.30 presumably because more people were watching Family Guy, and they wanted to use that as a lead-in to Futurama. But then they flip-flopped back to Futurama at 10. Evidently they flip-flopped AGAIN.

Whenever they do this, AS typically runs a card that says, "Why do we do this?" "To keep things fresh."

I barely get that, but I guess they just judge the ratings.

Sadly, that means that The Simpsons and Family Guy are now on at the same time.

I'll never know how you keep things fresh by flip flopping.

Especially Family Guy, the most overexposed cartoon in recent memory.

Even the simpsons has many seasons not currently on DVD. I dunno which is worse, showing family guy episodes constantly for years, or showing two Aqua Teen Hunger Force eps every night, (they only have like thirty).

Clearly I can't wait for Home Movies to get back a 11 or 11:30 timeslot on the weekdays...

I can still watch Family Guy and laugh regardless of the episode.

And AQTF has over 40 episodes. Still loving that show too.

Home Movies was a great show. Since it's not an AS original, it'll never get love unfortunately.

Plus, with their DVD business being huge now, I'm sure the fact that there's no money to be in that department since they don't own the rights makes them want to work with it less and less too.

Adult Swim has never had a set in stone schedule. They seem to reshuffle the schedule every 3 months or so.

I'm figuring Sealab will replace Aqua Teens on Tuesday-Thursday sometime soon. They need to show two different 15 minute shows instead of two episodes of the same show.

Seeing as both FG & ATHF are both about 1000 times better than Futurama, I can watch reruns of both every day.

Hell, I'll take the worst FG / ATHF episode over an episode of Home Movies any day of the week.

Haven't new Home Movies aired recently? I'm pretty sure that whole episode on the cursing was a new one..that was a great one too.

They did, what, three seasons on Comedy Central? Maybe two. However, it was originally on either UPN or WB, so it probably doesn't own FULL rights to it.

Edit: Small himself is working on material for the DVDs right now apparently; http://www.brendonsmall.com/homemovies.html

Wasn't the show was on ABC on Saturday morning? I could have swore it was.

Teletoon (the Canadian cartoon station) does show it every weeknight at like, midnight.

Since this is right after Family Guy/Futurama, I have started to watch the show. Not bad.

...and you'd never know it since they only ever show Mooninites and Mooninites Revenge. ;)

Damn, we used to quote the crap out of that episode, peoples computers proclaimed their lack of need for instructions on how to ROCK non-stop at work. Now it is beaten into the ground! B-)

Family Guy is pretty good, although there's weaknesses in the writing at times, and they just paper it over with an irreverent pop-culture reference.

For example:

Last night's episode we open with...that guy on TV painting...and he puts down a "happy little bush." Then the TV painter guy says that nobody better tell anyone it's there...or he'll come to their house and "cut" them.

Peter is apparently trying to follow along--why I don't know since it doesn't fit his character. However, his doesn't look anything like the landscape that was being painted...but instead it's the family portrait from Family Ties, and the theme music for that begins playing...

WHAT?!

In contrast, on Mission Hill we see the same TV-painter-guy being parodied...but acting normal...we wait for it, wait for it--and he puts down a "happy little tree." The room bursts out in cheers, as apparently the group had been having friendly little wagers over it.

I found the latter instance a lot more funny, and the former I found to be very lame.

I don't know what people are talking about with the ATHF episodes being repeated...I've been watching it for about the last 3 weeks + and I haven't seen the same episodes twice except for sometimes on the weekends.

Frylock: What happened to Meatwad?

Ignignot: He got caught for drinking, and stealing, and smoking in a non-smoking area.

___

Ignignot: I hope you can see this because I'm doing it as hard as I can.

And how could I forget...

Ignignot: Behold! We have the belt of 80's supergroup Foreigner that gives us the powers of 80's supergroup Foreigner.

Carl: Yeah, that's great. What is that, from the 81 tour? Yeah, I saw them at the Meadowlands...friggin' sweet.

Ignignot: Silence. What's wrong, Carl? Feeling 'Cold As Ice'?

(Carl begins to freeze)

I really just found "Mission Hill" to be a very funny, underrated show overall.

I highly doubt Home Movies will be put back on weekdays. If Space Ghost (the first original Cartoon Network program, a Williams Street show that has run for 10 years and paved the way for the creation of Adult Swim) isn't on at all, I don't think the low-rated Home Movies will be given a weekday slot. Especially at 11 or 11:30 (or even midnight), since Family Guy and Futurama are, I think, still doing very well in those slots.

You're probably thinking of another show called Science Court. If I remember correctly, the animation was in Sqigglevision like Dr. Katz and the first season of Home Movies. I also think people from Dr. Katz and Home Movies were involved with it.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

I think the Foreigner Belt was arguably the best episode ever.

"Give us the magazines Carl."

"Hey, I got a magazine for you. It's full o' hollowpoints. And then I'll put 'em in a gun. And blow your frickin' head off."

I would say "The Last One" is the greatest episode ever.

Ignignot: If you are present, simply say 'here I am' which is, of course, short for 'Here I am, rock me like a hurricane.'

---

Ignignot: Square the quad-laser and behold! you have the quad-glazer.

Err: I thought it was the quad-glacier!

Ignignot: That's what I said, the quad-glacier.

---

(taking roll call)

Ignignot: Emory & Oglethorpe....we're not invited is the end of that sentence. Plutonians are teh suck. (actually says 'teh')

Err: You shall do as the Scorpions have done before you!
