Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted July 10, 2004 On July 9 the Scifi Channel premiered the trailer for their new 4 hour miniseries, "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars." This small series is a continuation of the Farscape franchise, which ended in spring of '03 with a very controversial ending. The network execs said the show was too costly and the "natural ending" to the series. Hardcore fans said that it was a premature removal of one of Scifi's best shows. Needless to say, fans have been petitioning for literally a year to see some sort of finality to the series, and they will be getting it in October. As an old -time fan of the show I'll be glad to see it again. Thoughts?
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 I liked how the series ended. The sheer amount of people they pissed off was astounding. Still, as someone who just got into Farscape, I'm looking forward to it.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 Sci-Fi really can't justify cancelling Farscape and then replacing it with shows like "Tremors: The Series". I can MAYBE buy them buying the syndication rights to Stargate - because people do watch that show. But "Tremors"? No way you can convince me that drew in more viewers or drew more money than Farscape, which by the end did have a loyal fanbase which WOULD spend money on the product. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 Fuck yeah! Farscape was the best and most inventive sci-fi show I'd ever seen. It was a heartbreaking moment when it got cancelled (although the "ending" was actually very appropriate for Farscape, the show thrived on taking sharp left turns, and making the most cliche sci-fi storyline feel fresh). Time to dredge up my old sig picture
Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2004 I'm wondering, is it just this one four hour miniseries? Because it seems to me that they could probably do several minis, or just a few two-hour movies, and do quite well with them all around. It really would benefit them to keep the series around for a bit, if just in that limited fashion. Towards the end there, they had started to merchandize the show. Keeping it around would ensure that those opportunities remain open & viable.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted July 11, 2004 Sci-Fi really can't justify cancelling Farscape and then replacing it with shows like "Tremors: The Series". Ha! I had already forgotten about that "sure hit." How many episodes did they get before it got canned? 7? 9? And Vyce, I don't know I it's just one of many mini-series planned, but from the description they have over at Scifi.com, it sounds like this is only a one-time thing to rap up the show's lose ends.
