JHawk 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Am I gonna be the only one representing the MAC this season?
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Could still be another MAC team represented since I need one for the final spot...or a Big Ten team. Sorry just keep repeating it for anyone just now reading the topic. Edit: bps has signed up as Bowling Green and the final spot is filled. Once I get around to putting the schedule together (this weekend or a month from now, I don't know) I'll post it along with preseason rankings and the bowl names. Who will be the preseason #1? No it won't be me. Maybe. This can be unpinned now since I have all the contest spots filled.

Bored 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Damn out by a minute. I just edited my previous post to say I had the final spot filled. I'll put you on stand by in case someone drops out between now and the start of the season.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 It's your knowledge that's going to win this contest, not how well the school you represent plays. DAMN YOU 2GOLD! DAMN YOU!!!!!!! What??? What did I do??? I swear, I have no chance in hell of winning this. None, not an ounce. Nope, not me. Hell, I lost the title in the final game earlier this year. What chance do I have? Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 You need a #1 team, well sure Ohio State had 14 players drafted, but I think we can make a strong case for............ Top 32!
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2004 If anyone has any suggestions for possible bowl names (there will be seven of them) I'd love to hear them. I have a couple in mind already. I'm looking basically for products or websites that you'd never see sponsoring a bowl game. I know there is a lot you could use but can only use so many feminine products and porn sites. Send me a PM if you have an idea.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 What's the point of only having 32 teams? Couldn't you just as easily keep adding teams until people stopped registering. I mean shit, if you let it go for a month, you might even get up to 119. Also, why don't you just use 2/3 record, and 1/3 opponent record to decide who goes where. That would be just like the RPI, and then it would be more on the actual head-to-head matchups, instead of who got how many picks.
Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 I'm with iggyMcfly. Let some more people join, I just discovered this thread and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also, GD!!! Oklahoma's taken!!!!!!!!!!!! We still got OSU, but I'm begging to loose if I take them. : /
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Sorry I put it at 32 just in case there was a lack of interest and I did have to ask personally a couple of people to fill the final two spots. Also putting a cap on how many people are in it makes the contest easier for me to manage. I'd let more in but I have the schedule finished (which I think I'll post later tonight when I get home from work) so it'd be a pain to go back and redo it to add more teams. We do have five newbies in the contest so there is always a chance someone will drop out so I'll put you two on the back-up list with bravesfan currently be the 1st alternate. For that matter if anyone who signed up who is thinking they might not be able to particpate all season then let me know now. Oh and I did total points against rather than opponents record because it will be much easier to do than every week having to go through each team's schedule to update their opponents record. Besides in a contest like this how many picks you opponent picks against you the week you play them is all that really matters. In real life a team can affect how well there opponent plays. In this you have no real impact on how your opponent picks.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Preseason #1 is based on our own football acumen or what? There needs to be a Dickcream.com bowl.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 It will be sorta, you'll find out tonight. I did the Preseason Top 10 in the most unbiased way I could. Besides it won't have any impact on the regular season rankings, it's just to have rankings at the start of the season just for the sake of having them. Bowl names are picked, AoO contributing one of them. Hilarity will ensue I assure you.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2004 Bored's College Football Pick 'Em Contest Preseason Top 10 and Schedule Preseason Top 10 is picked and the regular season schedules have been finalized. For the lazy people here are the final conference breakdowns with the official conference names and as to use as a key for the schedule since I only list the schools not the posters. Not much thought was put into naming the conferences as you will see. Pac-8 Conference Arizona State (Spicy McHaggis), Boise State (Rob E Dangerously), Hawaii (Will Scarlet), Oregon (nogoodnick), Stanford (Bored), UCLA (phoenixrising), USC (Cartman), Washington State (Soylent Green is People). Big MAC Conference Bowling Green ("Hail" bps21), Kent State (JHawk), Michigan (Mad Dog), Michigan State (lomasmoney), Minnesota (Vern Gagne), Notre Dame (Lando Griffin), Ohio State (Gert T), Penn State (therealworldschampion). Mid South Conference Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff), Auburn (Agent of Oblivion), Florida (Agent Bond34), Georgia (Big_Jay101), LSU (teke184), Oklahoma (Damaramu), Tennessee (Kotzenjunge/Moist Party Girl), Texas (Flyboy). Big Atlantic Conference Boston College (HarleyQuinn), Florida State (2GOLD), Maryland (MarvinisaLunatic), Miami (Spaceman Spiff), Rutgers (the pinjockey), Syracuse (CanadianChris), Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto), West Virginia (Loaded Glove). Now for the Preseason Top 10 I went with the most unbiased way to do it. I just simply took the standings from my Bowl Pick 'Em Contest last season. Now the winner of the contest, razazteca, didn't sign up for this one so the top 10 is who finished from 2nd to 11th. These do not have any impact on the regular season rankings but it might give you an idea of who the favorites are. Preaseason Top 10 1. Florida State (2GOLD) 2. Kent State (JHawk) 3. Tennessee (Kotzenjunge) 4. Stanford (Bored) 5. Florida (Agent Bond34) 6. Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto) 7. Boise State (Rob E Dangerously) 8. Minnesota (Vern Gagne) 9. LSU (teke184) 10. UCLA (phoenixrising) Now for the full season schedule including the "hilarious" bowl games and their assigned match-ups. Games marked with an asterisk are match-ups that will happen in real life that week with two exceptions. I had to move up the USC/UCLA game two weeks and the Michigan State/Hawaii game one week because they both happen the week of the conference championship games. All other games were scheduled by myself and were done randomly for the most part. Remember Week 1 includes the first two weekends of the college football season. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2004 Alright! I'm going to be just like the real Florida State now!
