Sly 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2004 I wish for feedback on my simply average match. ***** "Welcome citizens to another edition of the Smarks Wrestling Federation's own Smarkdown! Sitting beside me as always is Robert Riley; and I am, of course, Cyclooooooone Comet! We're coming to you live from The Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and we've got an action packed card planned tonight for your enjoyment!" "Do you ever get tired of listening to yourself spout the same useless drivel show after show?" Riley questions his partner with a bitter tone in his voice, "have you ever even listened to yourself? You sound like the SWF's own personal lap monkey!" "Uh... as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted," Comet is slightly bothered but continues on with his commentary, "we've got a great card planned for everyone tonight! Two titles will be on the line tonight, there will be a hardcore match, and SWF World Heavyweight Champion Janus will be in action as well! We're sure to have a great night of ahead of us!" "Quiet down and let me talk for a while Comet!" Riley grows impatient, "now, while I have everyone's attention. I would just like to ask if there's anyone out there that needs a ring announcer of some sort. Or maybe a booker, I'm sure I could do that too. Just get in touch with me at my home. The address i" "Well... it seems as if my partner is having some momentary microphone difficulties." Comet snickers, "so it looks like I'll be carrying out the rest of the announcers duties until he can get that fixed. Where was I... oh yes, I was about to introduce our first match. Citizens, our first match of the night features two dastardly villains facing off for the right to be called the Cruiserweight Champion! Citizen Sly will be putting his title on the line against Citizen Jenkins, who has just recently shown his true colors when he turned on his fan only to align himself with the one known as Toxxic!" "Don't you mean fans, Comet?" Riley is picked up through Comet's mic by yelling at him, the technicians still fooling with his equipment, "wouldn't it be easier for you guys to just bring me a new one?" "I stand by what I said, Bobbo." Comet looks about suspiciously, "moving on, Citizen Sly has been on quite a tear lately having to use every bit of his brain to find ways to cheat and win. This man has been showing how despicable he really can be! One thing is fore sure tonight; there are no winners in our opening match, only losers." "Spare us your bleeding heart Comet," Riley pops in, his microphone apparently fixed, "just because a man is more resourceful when he wins, it doesn't make him that bad of a guy! Sure, you may pin it down as 'cheating' or 'unfair', but I would personally congratulate Austin Sly on finding newer and better ways to win a match! And don't be so hard on Spike... he's only doing what's best for his career! If Toxxic came up to you and asked you to join him in his quest for gold, you'd take the opportunity too!" "Never!" Comet shouts, "I'd never join forces with such a fiend!" Riley only laughs at his partner, determined that fame and money will overcome all. Funyon is perched in the ring awaiting his chance to introduce the first match. Comet takes note of this and tries to hurry along to the first match. "We'll have time to settle this later, Riley, but for now we must get on with our opening match!" Comet pauses, "... fool!" Riley tries to respond, but his voice is overcome by the sound of a techno beat. Darude’s “Sandstorm” plays throughout the arena, but a less than pleasant combination of boos and curse words from crowd members has been involuntarily mixed in with the beat. Boom! A white pyro explodes on both sides of the stage drawing "Hollywood" Spike Jenkins from the back. His head is covered with a hood that protrudes from the back of his leather coat. He is flanked by his new valet and stable mate, Jet. The duo stop at the top of the entrance ramp while Spike stares down at the ground. Suddenly, Spike thrusts his arms into the air and his head back causing his hood to fall back! Jet, meanwhile, stands behind Spike in quiet dignity just radiating an aura of pride. The two hold their poses at the top of the ramp momentarily before continuing their trek to the ring. "Ladies and gentlemen," Funyon's voice bellows out through the arena, "the following match is for the Cruiserweight championship and is to be contested under Cruiserweight rules! Throwing a man over the top rope will be a disqualification and count-outs are now twenty counts instead of ten! Making his way to the ring first from Hollywood, California, weighing in at two hundred and twenty-five pounds; being accompanied to the ring by Jet! He is "Hollywood" Spiiiiiiike Jeeeeeenkiiiiins!" Spike turns to mock the fans in the first few rows at ringside, talking about how the Pirates will never make it to the World Series again. The fans fire back at him trying to drown out this new version of Spike! "Toxxic sucks!" "Toxxic sucks!" "Toxxic sucks!" Spike merely grimaces at the crowd as he climbs to the ring apron. He strolls across the ring apron with his arms in the air. This only gathers more booing from the fans before he steps between the middle ropes and into the ring. Jenkins peels his jacket off while sharing a word with both Funyon and referee Eddy Long. He tosses his jacket out of the ring to Jet before bouncing off one set of ropes, trying to prepare for the match. "I can't believe what this young man has become!" Comet murmurs, disappointment in his breath, "just weeks ago, I would speak of how Citizen Jenkins could very well be our next Cruiserweight champion with glee! Now, I dread the outcome of this match win or lose." "You're so shallow Comet. Just because someone has changed their attitude about how to win it doesn't give you the right to morally condemn them." "By Zeus it does when they make a one hundred and eighty degree turn from the ways they once were!" The bickering announcers are once again interrupted when the arena lights dim to a cool, dark shade of blue. The sound of an acoustic guitar playing a hard, driving riff floats out over the arena, but it is almost completely smothered by the fans showing their utter loathe for the man who's presence they will soon be in. Austin Sly emerges from behind the curtains with only a slight cocky smirk to show any emotion on his face, his Cruiserweight title belt slung carelessly across his shoulder. He makes his way to the edge of the stage to do his pre-match stretches before NTD ever appears from the curtains behind him, pantsless as always. Austin turns to share a glance and smile towards his mentor before they both make their way towards the ring. Funyon makes the announcement. "Making his way to the ring first from St. Louis, Missouri, weighing in at two hundred and thirty pounds; being accompanied to the ring by Smarks Wrestling Federation legend NTD! He is YOUR REIGNING Cruiserweight Champion... Auuuustiiiiiiiin Slyyyyyy!" The duo pause at ringside, taking the opportunity to have one last talk before Austin has to step into the ring. During the exchange, Sly removes the title from his shoulder and places it onto his mentor's before patting the gold one last time. He turns and stretches his arms across his chest before rolling into the ring underneath the bottom rope. He slowly sits up in the ring with his hands out, motioning for Spike to stay back. Austin slowly rises to his feet before signaling to Eddy Long that he's ready to go. Ding ding ding! "There's the ring bell so it looks like we're ready to go! Any predictions for what we’re about to witness, Comet?" "I know better than to make predictions in this sport, Riley" Comet shoots down his partner. "Well I have a prediction," Riley boasts, "I predict that you're going to be upset no matter how this match turns out! Ha!" Austin puts his arms up signaling to Spike that he would like to start out with a simple grapple. The straight-edger agrees, and the two creep in towards each other, neither man wanting to trust the other or give away an early advantage. Each man hesitates to get close to the other, but they eventually lock up in the middle of the ring. Austin uses his height and strength advantage to shove down on Spike's causing him to give slightly at the knees. Spike tries to fight back by using all the strength he has to shove out of the hold, but it's of no use. Sly breaks his grip only to grasp his opponent's head with his left arm and pull it down to his side! With Jenkins’ back exposed, Austin drives his free right elbow down into Spike's back knocking him to his knees. Spike climbs back up to his feet only to be knocked back down again with another elbow to his back. Desperately trying to free himself, Spike reaches around behind Austin's legs and yanks them out from under him! Thud! The shock of losing his balance causes Austin to release the hold as he falls to the mat. His back smacks against the canvas, but he rolls over onto his stomach in an attempt to get to his feet quicker. Spike seizes this opportunity and jumps onto Austin in order to wrap his arm around Austin's head in a headlock! Sly tries to break the hold by shoving Spike's hands up and off his head as he climbs to his knees, but it only causes the hold to be tightened. Austin continues to try and fight his way up to his feet by getting his right foot underneath him. "Some fans might not know it, but it takes a lot out of someone to try and fight out of a hold like this! Citizen Sly might be setting himself up for disaster already by just wasting so much strength trying to battle against Citizen Jenkins!" Comet forewarns his partner. "I wouldn't be concerned here, Comet," Riley coolly states, "I've seen Austin fight out of worse situations than this and there wasn't a title on the line before!" Austin tries to shove his head free of Spike's hands again causing Spike to focus his strength on maintaining his grip. While they're both struggling for control over the Cruiserweight Champion's head, Austin finds a way to get both of his feet on solid ground underneath him. Sly quickly shifts his attention to freeing himself the only other way he knows how... by fighting out! Austin fires an elbow into the midsection of the challenger, but it has little effect but to raise Spike's determination. The champion draws his elbow back again and begins firing it into "Hollywood" at a much faster pace. One, two, three, four - Spike's grip loosens. Five, six - he loses his hold! Austin quickly grabs Spike's hand and tries to whip him across the ring only to have it reversed! Sly goes bouncing off the ropes and right back into a waiting Spike Jenkins who knocks him down to the mat with a shoulder block. The challenger turns and throws his arms into the air, acknowledging this small victory as his own. A small group of fans start a chant to let both combatants know exactly how they feel. "You both suck!" "You both suck!" "You both suck!" Spike lets a small amount of joy shine through his face, soaking up the hatred from the fans. Austin, on the other hand, has a look of desperation on his face. Having been out wrestled by a smaller competitor, he uses his only logical move... Wham! "Ahhhhhhhh!" ... he attacks Spike from behind! Austin causes his opponent to tumble to the mat by sending his shoulder flying into the back of Spike's knees. Jenkins quickly climbs back to his feet, but Austin sends him back down to the mat when the champion introduces his shoulders once again to the back of Spike's knees. "It looks like Citizen Sly is targeting Citizen Jenkins' knees. Quite a smart strategy, considering the knee injury he suffered from a short time back!" "Of course it's a smart strategy, Comet! We're talking about Austin Sly! The man is a ring technician if I've ever seen one!" Riley pauses, "he's a man cut from the same cloth as Tom Flesher or something." The Cruiserweight champion stalks his opponent, waiting for him to climb back to his feet. Right leg up, left leg up... Spike makes it to his feet, wobbly legs and all. This serves as a cue for Austin though as he takes off across the ring to bounce off the ropes. Jenkins turns his head to see his opponent charging after him, but has no time to react as Austin jumps into the air and grabs him by the neck to pull him down in a thunderous bulldog. Both men smack the canvas with a thud, but Sly scrambles onto his hands and knees to crawl over to cover Spike for the first pin attempt of the night. Referee Eddy Long slides down to make the count. One! "Kick out Spike! Kick out!" Jet yells at her stable mate. From the opposite side of the ring, NTD points to the woman as if telling her to stay out of ring. Two! Kick out! Whether it was Jet's screams or just pure power, Spike finds the strength to kick out from under his opponent. Austin sits on his knees for a second beside Spike with a look of disappointment across his face. He climbs back to his feet as Spike climbs to his knees, weary of testing his legs. Austin sends him back to the mat with a stiff kick to his side, though. Now standing at the end of Jenkins’ legs, Austin picks up his opponent's right leg and stretches it out to its full length before kicking him in the knee! Spike reels his leg back in to try and protect it, but Austin just latches back onto it before stretching it out again. The champion sends his foot soaring into Spike's knee once again and Spike once again pulls it back in towards his body. Sly grabs his opponent’s leg again, but this time Jenkins shows a bit of desperation in trying to get away. He rolls off his back and onto his stomach in order to use his arms to shove off the mat. With his leg still trapped in Austin's grasp, he tucks his head in between his arms. Spike uses the force of his weight to flip his back onto the mat in an attempt to free his leg, but it comes with an extra reward as he also manages to catch the champion off guard and flip him over using both his legs! "Citizen Jenkins comes soaring back by flipping the champion over with some sort of leg toss!" "Did you think up that name all by yourself, Comet? Leg Toss?" Riley quips at Comet. Austin lets out a small cry as he crashes onto the mat back first. He arches his spine while grabbing at his back, as if thinking it could somehow ease his pain. Austin knows that there is no time to rest, though, as he quickly rolls over to climb to his feet. Spike must be thinking the same thing as they both reach their feet at about the same time. Neither man makes a move to try and take control of the match but instead just stand and take a look around. Spike looks over to Jet while Austin just crouches down to gather his senses about him. Jenkins tries to make a move in towards the champion, but as soon as he gets near him, Austin just slides out of the ring beneath the bottom rope. He calmly runs his hand back through his hair as he walks around the ring, paying no mind to Spike. Quickly becoming frustrated with the lack of respect Austin has shown him, Spike slides underneath the bottom ropes to the outside where his opponent stands. Eddy Long warns the two about a possible count out, but neither man seems to hear him as they continue on their set paths. Jenkins approaches Austin from behind and catches his with an elbow to the back of the head that causes the Cruiserweight Champion to stumble forward. After catching his balance, Austin turns to face his attacker... Smack! "Gaahhhhhh!" ... only to receive an uppercut to his throat! Austin grasps at his throat while turning to try and distance himself from Spike. Jenkins does his best to hobble along after Sly, still feeling a slight effect from the work on his knee. He catches his fleeing opponent in a headlock as the two approach the ring steps. Eddy Long begins his count. One! Spike tries to tighten his grip, but Austin shoves his way out of it sending Spike crashing knees first into the ring steps! He lets out a small cry that is covered by the clanging of the metal steps as they separate from the ring. On one side of the ring stand the two combatants. Closest to the ramp stands Jet, cheering on her friend and trying to rile him enough to make a comeback. Opposite of Jet stands NTD, curiously close to the announcer’s table. Two! "Come on Spike! You can do it!" Jet cheers on. See only seems to gather the attention of Austin Sly though. Three! Austin begins to make his way towards the punk rock maiden. Her voice becomes filled with anger as she now screams at the Cruiserweight Champion, cautioning him not to approach her. Eddy Long also cautions Austin of a possible disqualification, but this does more to encourage Austin than discourage. Long, determined to not let this match end in another DQ affair, slides out of the ring to stand between the two. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ring, NTD creeps beneath the apron trying desperately to stay out of sight. He clinches a steel chair in his hands as he creeps up on Spike, who is currently peeling himself off of the steel steps. "This doesn't look good for Citizen Jenkins!" Comet gets quiet suddenly, "with the only fair-minded person involved in this match pre-occupied trying to separate Citizens Jet and Sly, it would appear as if NTD is about to make his impact tonight!" "Shouldn't you be giving your lecture about how cheating is evil right now?" Riley asks his partner. "I would usually, but..." Comet pauses, "I believe he deserves whatever he gets for joining forces with the foul Toxxic!" Spike stands up only to see his manager and opponent locked in a heated battle with Eddy Long in the middle, holding his space between the two as if his life depended upon it. Jenkins begins to make his way towards the trio in hopes of helping solve this trouble and possibly gaining an upper hand... Crack! "Ahhhhhhhh!" ... NTD comes soaring off of the second ring step with his chair in hand and flattens Jenkins with a mighty shot from behind! Both men fall to the floor, but NTD rolls safely away underneath the ring. Austin turns his attention back towards Spike after hearing the crash of metal, leaving Jet to scream at Referee Long about what she has just witnessed. Eddy does his best to calm her so he can continue with the match while Austin just scoops Jenkins back off the mat and rolls him back into the ring. Sly quickly slides on top of Spike for the cover, but there is still no referee! Austin has to yell at him in order to get his attention and make him back return to the ring! He slides into the ring and begins his count, leaving a distraught Jet behind. One! Kick out before a two count! Jet lets out a sigh of relief before beginning to cheer on Spike again. On the opposite side of the ring Riley lets his frustration rush out. "What? Did you just see that? Austin would've had this match won if it weren't for the poor refereeing by Eddy Long! He should just let the wrestlers fight it out themselves instead of getting in the middle of everything like that! Now he's possibly cost Austin the match and the title?" "You wanted him to just stand idly by and let Citizen Sly go over and flatten Jet?" Comet’s voice takes a tone of disappointment after his partner‘s comments. "I never said that... but I never said I had anything against it either." The shocked and disgusted look on Comet's face causes Riley to pause, "all I'm saying is you put yourself on the line when you come to ringside. Jet knew what she could be getting into before she ever came out here." Austin sits up beside his opponent with a look of frustration on his face that matches the tone in Riley's voice. He doesn't waste any time though, keeping his attention locked on Spike while he is still on the mat. Austin lifts his opponent's left leg off the mat, then steps over it before dropping down to the mat. He grabs Spike's right leg and locks it back to form a figure four leg lock! Spike screams out in pain as Austin falls back to the mat to apply pressure onto his legs. Referee Eddy Long is on the scene, offering Spike a chance to tap out quickly and end the match. Jenkins shows his perseverance though and refuses to give up despite the pain that is shooting through his legs. "Perhaps I spoke too soon, Comet. This should be the end right here! There's no way Spike can last through a figure four with his past leg injuries and having had that leg worked on throughout this match by Austin Sly!" Riley squeals. "Calm down, Bobbo. Citizen Jenkins hasn't given up yet..." Comet pauses, "all though I'm sure these people would love for this match to just be over." NTD rolls out from under the ring and stands up to see the action inside the ring. The pantsless wonder begins slapping the mat as he cheers on his young protege. Meanwhile, Austin shoves himself back up off the mat with his arms trying to shift the pressure on Spike's legs. Spike shifts himself up at that same time and sends an open palmed strike to Austin's throat, causing him to release the hold slightly. Jenkins lands another strike directly to Austin's throat and the hold is broken. Spike does his best to climb back to his feet despite the pain in his legs while Austin just shoots to his feet despite holding onto his throat. He turns to look at NTD for help or support of some kind, but all he receives is a mysterious "don't turn around" from his mentor. Austin, of course, turns around only to be caught by Spike as if he were trying to set him up for a uranage. Spike lets his legs drop out from under him though and pulls Austin's head down with him. The champ's neck is driven into Spike's shoulder, causing Sly to whip backwards and onto the mat. Spike quickly scrambles on top of the champion for the cover. One! "Come on Austin! Kick out! This is your title!" NTD yells. Two! "This is your chance Spike! Take the gold!" Jet screams from the opposite side of the ring. Three-nooooo! Austin kicks out at the last second! Riley lets out a sigh of relief; "I was almost scared there for a second, Comet! I've become quite fond of having gold wrapped around the waist of Austin Sly! It highlights his... um..." "Spike almost put Citizen Sly down for a three count with his ironically named 'Minor Threat'!" Comet notes, avoiding the more awkward topic of conversation. Sly gasps for air as he sits up, unaware of his opponent’s position. Spike leans on the ropes waiting for Austin to make it to his feet obviously waiting for a chance to hit a specific move. As Austin makes it back to his feet, Spike comes charging towards him (or as close to charging as he can muster with his injured legs) but misses any opportunity to capitalize when NTD warns Austin of his impending doom and quickly dodges out of the way! Spike quickly puts on the brakes and spins around to nail Austin in the temple with a hard right hand. Austin staggers back a little, but not enough to lose his balance. Spike comes surging back again, sending another right hand flying into Austin's face. Jenkins goes for a third swing, but Austin ducks under this one only to pop up behind his opponent and deliver a sharp dropkick to his back knocking him off his feet. Spike is hardly phased though as he rolls to the ropes and uses them to help pull himself to his feet quickly. Austin walks towards his opponent, hoping to capitalize, but he's leveled with a clothesline as Spike jumps away from the ropes! Jenkins crawls on top of Austin again, hoping for better luck this time as Eddy Long slides into place. One! Two! Austin gets his shoulder up right after the two count. Spike quickly rolls Austin over onto his stomach before taking a seat on Austin's back. Jenkins goes to wrap his arm around the champion's throat, but this causes Austin to go into panic mode as he starts firing elbows back. "It looks like Citizen Jenkins is trying to set up The Silver Lining! His version of a Dragon Sleeper! This could very well put Citizen Sly away with all the working of the neck he's been subjected to!" Comet is ecstatic. "Austin is fighting out, though." Riley calmly notes. Some of the elbows connect, causing Spike to lose his hold across Austin's neck and fall back off of his opponent. Both of them somehow make it to their feet, but Spike is the first to fire a shot as he sends his right hand soaring into Austin's face once again! Austin falls down to his knee, but quickly climbs back up only to be sent down again with another right hand, this one knocking him completely off his feet. Austin tries to climb back up, but he's leveled back to the mat with a ferocious right hand from the surging challenger! "Stay down! Play defensive!" NTD bellows out. Surprisingly enough, Sly makes the decision to just stay down this time and try and gather his breath back, giving Spike what he perceives as an opportunity. Spike looks at the audience and then down to Jet. The crowd begins to chant again. "Toxxic sucks!" "Toxxic sucks!" "Toxxic sucks!" The words coming from Jet's mouth are of a very different tone and quite encouraging. She attempts to direct traffic from outside of the ring, banging on the mat to first get Spike's attention, then trying to get him to finish the match in one decisive blow! She points up to the corner turnbuckle, obviously wanting Spike to use The Ratings Grabber (Spike's version of a frog splash) to put Austin away. Jenkins must like the idea because he quickly limps his way to the corner before climbing the turnbuckle and settling himself in for his coming jump. He's stalled on the top rope though as Austin has gathered the attention of Referee Eddy Long and grabbed onto his shirt, trying to speak with him. Wham! "Ga-uhhhhh!" NTD comes running up out of no where to jump onto the ring apron and pluck Spike's foot out from under him, causing him to fall onto the top turnbuckle in a most precarious of ways! NTD jumps down from the apron just a quickly as he had appeared on it. He takes off around the side of the ring drawing the attention of Jet, who gives chase to him following him up the ramp and away from ringside. With Spike down and himself clearly out of danger, Austin releases his hold on Eddy and climbs back to his feet and turn his attention to Spike, who is still reeling from the crushing blow he's just experienced. "It looks like the match has turned back in Austin's favor just as quickly as it had left him! Ha!" Riley laughs out in enjoyment and spite. "I would think you'd be happy with Citizen Jenkins or Citizen Sly winning, Riley." "You would think that, huh..." Riley looks around suspiciously. Austin climbs the front of the turnbuckle with Spike still sitting upon the top of it. The Cruiserweight champ checks to make sure that Spike's legs are in front of the ropes and his whole body can move freely before locking his opponent's head down in a headlock like position. In one swift movement, he jumps from the turnbuckles and twists in air pulling Spike off with him in a HUGE swinging neckbreaker! All the way down! The two crash onto the mat, much to the amazement of the announcing team. "What was that?" Riley screams out. "I believe Citizen Sly calls that a 'So-Cal', Riley! I've heard of him using it before, but I don't believe we've ever actually witnessed it here in the SWF!" Comet educates his partner. "Well whatever it was, it sure was impressive." Riley says with admiration in his voice. There's a small gasp from the crowd at what they've just witnessed, but they shock is quickly replaced by hatred again as they realize who is in the ring. Austin rolls over onto Spike for the cover causing Eddy Long slides down for the count. One! Two! Three! Ding ding ding! "Ladies and Gentlemen, your winner via pinfall and still Smarks Wrestling Federation Cruiserweight Champion, Auuustiiiiiin Sllyyyyy!" Funyon announces over the returning boos. Austin rolls over off of Spike and onto his knees. Realizing what has just happened, he reaches back behind his head to hold his neck, a look of shock upon his face before slowly raising his arms above his head in a show of victory. The fans at ringside are less than appreciative as a round of boos and "you both suck" chants go around the arena. "Austin wins again! He's somehow squeaked his way out with a win here tonight against all odds!" Riley celebrates along with Austin. "Didn't I tell you this guy is great, Comet?" "What do you mean 'against all odds'? He cheated his way through the match with repeated interference from his mentor NTD! On more than one occasion he stalled with fake injuries just so that he could regain his composure and breath!" Comet adds with rich sarcasm, "it's great to know that we have a real winner as the Cruiserweight Champion." "I'm glad you agree with me in at least that one sense, Comet." Riley adds, only slightly in the dark. "Ugh..." Austin rolls out of the ring and begins to back his way up the ramp, eyes locked on Spike Jenkins who is now beginning to stir. Spike musters the strength to shove himself up off the mat and share a glare with Austin before the show fades to its first commercial break.
