It's so sad that F9/11 too because this will just give Moore the idea of saying "MILLIONS OF PEOPLE SAW MY MOVIE! I'm RIGHT! NANANANANANANANANANANAN IF YOU ATTACK ME NOW YOUR JUST A WHACKO ATTACKO"

Damn I hate that fucker.

God I don't want this to turn into another Moore debate...

People who saw this movie are Moore lovers and haters.

Moore might have a big ego, but I don't think he'll say something like that.

He's put shit on his website exactly like that. Everythings a conspiracy against him if someone doubts him or prooves him wrong. But I'll stop talking about him in this thread.

Spiderman 2 will be number 1 again next week

I really don't think Spidey 2 will be number 1 again.

"I, Robot" will do decent and it is going against "The Bourne Supremacy" and "Catwoman."

Also, Spidey 2 isn't doing as well as "Shrek 2" is.

As of the 19th day, this is how much each film made:

Spidey 2: $302,287,882

Shrek 2: $314,523,202

EDIT: Preidctions for next week:

1. The Bourne Supremacy

2. Catwoman

3. I, Robot

4. Spiderman 2

5. Anchorman

6. F 9/11

7. Cinderella Story

8. King Arthur

9. Notebook

10. Dodgeball

I saw I, Robot and it was ok. Kind of a 2nd rate Blade Runner with campy looking effects that will date in 5 years. The actual story was pretty good however, as there was a certain amusement in seeing black cop Will Smith so prejudiced against the robots. Heh. I know that Smith opened the movie extremely well, but he was completely miscast in this role. His schtick is fine is a sillier film like MIB, or even the less than serious Bad Boys movies, but I, Robot would have worked better with someone like a 1980s Harrison Ford (think Blade Runner again). Someone you could take a bit more seriously.

I notice IMDb has a slightly different list, with Anchorman at number three($13.8M) and A Cinderella Story at number four($13.6M).

The original estimates were off.

Anchorman did beat Cinderella Story.

Yup, "Anchorman" did beat "Cinderella Story."

Anchorman: $13,849,313

A Cinderella Story: $13,623,350

Catwoman looks terrible. That said, I really want to see I Robot and Bourne Supremacy. Both look to be at the very least entertaining for a few hours.

I'll laugh my ass off if Catwoman turns out to be a good movie. It will be even funnier if it somehow becomes one of the best comic book moives.

For those interested in seeing I, Robot, I suggest you do. I wasn't really interested but I checked it out tonight and really enjoyed it. There was a solid build throughout the movie and had some really neat fight scenes in addition to some funny jokes (Hold my pie). Not a classic by any means, but if you have to choose between it and some of the shit we've had out lately, choose I Robot. Solid -> good stuff.

Does anyone know how well Spider-Man was doing at this point in time compared to how Spider-Man 2 has done so far? I'm not even sure how long the movie has been out, but I'm interested in knowing if it is holding it's own with the original.

Following its third weekend SM1 had $285,573,668.

SM2 has $302,287,882. But keep in mind that it had a 2 day headstart on the first movie with the Wednesday opening.

If Spidey 2 gets $40 million more, this will be the first year that 3 movies enter the top 10 of all time.

And if Shrek 2 and Spidey 2 get in the top ten, which might happen, then it will be the first time that two movies in the same year enter the top 5 of all time.

2004 is a good year for the box office. And there are still plenty of movies to come out that will be "blockbusters" (atleast $150 million):

The Village - July 30

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - September 17

A Sound of Thunder - October 8th

Alexander - November 5

The Incredibles - November 5

Ocean's Twelve - December 10

The Aviator (maybe) - December 17

Meet the Fockers - December 22

Hmm...I don't know about Sky Captain. I've yet to see one advertisement for it. I didn't know the release date until you posted it. I guess that's because it's two months away, but I didn't know that until now. Most of the discussion I've heard about the movie has been negative. And movies in September, especially action movies, don't make a whole lot of cash (leaves this thought open for some chart or something. Appreciate it).

Sky Captain was delayed since the studio thought that it'd get lost in the shuffle in the summer.

I saw the trailer for it and it looks really bad. It didn't explain the plot or anything and it looks like lots of CGI without much story.

I saw A Cinderella Story last night. It was a nice cute little movie and I really think the critics went into the movie wanting to hate it and spent the whole time thinking of witty one liners and such that would make them look funny as they trashed the movie. Ebert giving Stepford Wives *** and Cinderella Story * is a joke

Sky Captain looks pretty interesting to me, not just from a technical standpoint, but also that wonderful 30's deco look.
