Guest Cerebus Report post Posted August 12, 2004 I've been getting back into Diplomacy after a long absence (I used to play a fair amount in high school) and I really find that the Play By Email is one of the better ways to play the game since it can take quite a while to play it face-to-face (and can get people pretty bitter after they are eliminated from the board). I was wondering if anyone here would be up for a TSM PBEM game of Diplomacy that I would run?

Highland 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 My uncle has it, I never played it but I could borrow it from him and read up on the rules. It sounds interesting.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 I know how to play the game, but have never played by EMail so I don't know what that involves. Care to explain? Like how long I get to make my turns and stuff.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 A friend of mine has the game in his basement and I've never once questioned to play it. If we play a board-type game, it's usually Hear Me Out or Malarky.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted August 13, 2004 The official rules and this Newbie guide explain the rules better than I ever could. But basically, the way the game is structured, alliances are key to surviving the beginning without being swallowed up but the only way to win is to backstab your ally. The key is to knowing when to backstab/when the backstab is coming, building coalitions, making threats etc. A PBEM would consist of me as a GM accepting everyone's orders by email and posting the results here (along with the map). You would have 96 hours (4 days) to make your movement orders and 48 hours (2 days) to make adjustment and retreat orders.
