JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Stole the results so far from the czwfans board: The TNA Spanish announce team do the cable theft thing this week. Recap video of last week airs. Raven enters and claims Sabu is faking the injury. Raven calls out Sonjay Dutt and he answers. It plays the story of the agile Sonjay against the brutal Raven. Done really well, Sonjay executing everything perfectly and Raven doing his part to make both of them look good. The crowd is completely dead, they neither boo or cheer the entire match. 2 cloaked figures are seen in the rafters and one points at the ring, and his hand/fingers were taped in black tape. 2 more cloaked figures are seen near the entrance. They said they were the same ones, but the cloaks looked different to me. The first ones were in slight green cloaks and these were in black ones. Sonjay ties Raven up in one of the dog collars and beats him with a trash can. Raven throws Sonjay off the top through a table on the outside. Raven goes to pick up Sonjay and Sonjay throws fire in Raven’s face, and then throws him over the top rope and the ref calls for the bell. Sonjay wins the match. Interview with Jarrett. Backstage promo with Team Canada. Petey Williams enters to face Chris Sabin for the X Division Championship. Pretty much a slow X Division match, with D’More running in as did Bobby Rude, and Dusty came out and chased D’More around. Williams gets the win with a Canadian destroyer. Promo with Tracy Brooks, Shane and Kazarian Triple X and AMW enter to face one another. Triple X gets the predictable win because it’s a best of 3 series. Interview with Monty Brown
Guest Donners Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Torch coverage: -After recent clips aired, Mike Tenay and Don West introduced the show. 1 -- RAVEN vs. SONJAY DUTT Before the match, Raven said Sabu made up an injury to avoid fighting him. Tenay on commentary said Sabu hurt his back wrestling this weekend. He challenged "his lackey" Dutt to take his place. Dutt accepted the challenge. There were dog collars and chains attached in the corners which could be used as weapons. Dutt showed good spirit throughout, but Raven managed to fend off most of his comeback attempts. The action was non-stop and intense, ending when Dutt surprised Raven with a fireball to the face. The ref then called for the bell because Raven could not continue fighting. Tenay overmodulated as he screamed into the mic that Dutt threw fire and beat Raven in his own match. WINNER: Dutt in 10:00. STAR RATING: ** -A pretaped sitdown interview aired with Mike Tenay and Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett talked about the Dusty Rhodes-Vince Russo feud and then disparaged Monty Brown, saying he is a Double A player trying to make it in the major leagues. He disparaged him for being inexperienced and only having one move. Some of that stuff hits pretty close to home. I know a lot of promoters and bookers would advice against pointing out legitimate shortcomings of a top babyface like that. -Scott Hudson interviewed Scott D'Amore and Team Canada. Clips them aired of Team Canada's Petey Williams winning the X Division Title last week. 2 -- PETE WILLIAMS vs. CHRIS SABIN -- X Division Title match Tenay pointed out that Sabin never lost the X Title, that he had to relinquish it due to injury. Williams got in some sustained offense in the opening minutes. After a mat hold by Williams, Sabin made a comeback at 5:30. Sabin and Williams countered each other on numerous moves. Sabin lifted Williams for a powerbomb and then charged into the corner turnbuckle head-first. Williams' head snapped off the turnbuckle. When Sabin went to the top rope, D'Amore knocked him off with his hockey stick as the ref was checking on Williams. Sabin kicked out. Dusty Rhodes then came to ringside and chased D'Amore. The ref stepped between them. Sabin hit his Cradle Shock. Bobby Roode snuck into the ring and clotheslined Sabin from behind. Williams then finished off Sabin with the Canadian Destroyer. WINNER: Williams at 9:10 to retain the X Title. STAR RATING: ** -Hudson attempted to interview Michael Shane and Kazarian. Traci didn't like his questions, so she asked them questions. Shane talked about how he and Kazarian are closer than a lot of famous pairs. Kazarian promo'd their upcoming match. -Vico walked and said those two guys make him nervous. He said he had family business to discuss and he was going to give David Young a beating. 2 -- AMERICA'S MOST WANTED vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & PRIMETIME Tenay and West talked about the challenge Primetime had to carry the team since Daniels's shoulder was still in rough shape and taped up. Primetime hit a nice offensive flurry at 4:30 including a nice jump reverse sidekick. When he flipped into the ring, AMW caught him and double-teamed him briefly and took control of the match. Daniels got a hot-tag at 7:45 and set up Harris quickly for an Angel's Wings. Storm stopped him. Daniels snapped and went after both members of AMW aggressively. Primetime joined in. Daniels gave Harris a clothesline in the corner. Daniels snuck in a pin on Harris when Primetime tripped him coming off the ropes. WINNERS: Daniels & Primetime at 9:01. STAR RATING: ** -Hudson interviewed Monty Brown, who talked about the Jeff Jarrett vs. Jeff Hardy NWA Title match on Sept. 8. He said on Sept. 9, whoever wins the match, he better be in line for the next title match. Just as he was about to talk about his Pounce, Kid Kash intervened. He said he understands all about the favoritism that goes on in TNA each week and he got consumed with it. He said was warning Brown not to let that happen to him. He said A.J. Styles, AMW, Ron Killings, and Jeff Hardy are all part of the favored group. He told Monty that if he ever needs back-up, he'll be there for him. When Kash walked away, Brown said he has never needed backup and he always works alone. He said the Truth will feel the "Pounce!... Period." -Clips aired of the Killings-Brown feud. Good to see Dutt isn't being used as a total jobber.
Guest Donners Report post Posted August 19, 2004 3 -- MONTY BROWN vs. RON "THE TRUTH" KILLINGS They went back and forth in the early minutes. At 5:30 Brown went for a powerbomb, but Killings blocked and knocked him to the mat with a face jam. Killings gave Brown a dropkick and a flying forearm. Killings took a ridiculously long time getting to the top rope, so when he flew off, Brown caught him and slammed him to the mat with an Alphabomb. When Killings kicked out at two, Brown looked shocked. Killings came back with an axe kick. Kid Kash came to ringside and yanked the referee out of the ring during a pin attempt. A.J. Styles ran out and chased Kash to the back. Brown then surprised Kilings with the Pounce for the clean win. WINNER: Brown at 8:00.
Guest mynameisdane Report post Posted August 19, 2004 weird.....keller adjusted his ratings. he lowered a couple matches 1/2*.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Wow...glad I didn't order this show, since nothing seems too good. And Brown over Truth? I call bullshit on that one.
Guest Donners Report post Posted August 19, 2004 AJ/Kash could be very good though. Wouldn't judge the show until that one's done.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 But I doubt AJ/Kash, will will no doubt be 10 minutes or less, would be worth the $10.
Guest Donners Report post Posted August 19, 2004 15 minutes, actually. 4 -- THE NATURALS vs. 3 LIVE KRU (B.G. James & Konnan) -- NWA Tag Team Title match Konnan and James got in their signature spots early. The Naturals then took over and worked over James. Tenay and West complimented the Naturals for their ability to double-team and put on a "tag team clinic" against 3 Live Kru. James hit the Naturals with a double clothesline at 7:45. He hot-tagged Konnan at 8:00. At 9:00 D'Amore hit James from behind with a hockey stick, but James kicked out of the pin attempt anyway. Dusty then went after D'Amore on the stage, hitting D'Amore and Johnny Devine with the broken hockey stick. Dusty then whacked Andy Douglas with hockey stick, but the ref saw it and called for the pin. WINNERS: The Naturals via DQ at 10:05. STAR RATING: *1/2 -- A bit formula and with an unsatisfying finish, but not bad. The finish played well into the Dusty-Russo storyline, but it still left things feeling flat. -Hudson interviewed Goldy Locks who was surrounded by Alex Shelley, Shark Boy, Sonny Siaki, D-Ray 3000. Desire walked in and said she wanted Sonny back. Goldy said she can't have him back and shouldn't want him back because he's a useless idiot. Desire said she'd buy him back. Goldy said, "With what? Your welfare check?" Goldy offered a deal, her contract against Sonny's. Goldy said if she can find a wrestler to represent her, it's a deal. Abyss then walked into the picture. Goldy called her the "masked janitor" and told him to clean up her slop. Shelley suggested an Altoid for Abyss. -Jeff Hardy actually spoke. He said, "Sept. 8" during a video montage promoting his title match against Jeff Jarrett. He'll work his way to sentences at a later time. Hardy closed with two full sentences. He said he came close before to reaching the top and on Sept. 8, "my fate will be sealed" -Tenay and West got in their ringside plugs. There was a guy standing behind West making facial expressions that would scare every kid into his mother's arms. Tenay plugged the return of the luchadors La Park & Psicosis vs. Shane & Kazarian next week and plus AMW vs. Triple X in the final match in their best of three series with the winner getting a tag title shot against The Naturals. David Young and Big Vito brawled to the ring. Security tried to break them up, but when Big Vito started beating them up, Heavy D (Don Harris) made the save of sorts, getting in his face. 5 -- KID KASH vs. A.J. STYLES Kash got fans to worked up, security had to hold a fan back. Styles smiled. Kash kept yelling at the fan, even after the bell rang. They began the match with about 20 minutes left in the PPV. Styles leaped over the top rope onto Kash at ringside at 1:00, then rammed Kash into the ring barrier. Kash soon took control, throwing a chair at Styles and then brawling up the bleachers. Kash even teased throwing Styles off the bleachers with a hiptoss. Styles fought back on the top level of the bleachers. Kash gave Styles a low blow at 8:45 and then threw him through the security railing on the balcony. Styles caught himself. They both hung from the edge as fans chanted "Holy sh--!" They both fell through a table below about 15 feet. The "Holy sh--" chant picked up intensity. That looks quite dangerous. Someone easily could have broken an arm on landing. It appeared they were fine, though. They replayed it twice. It's amazing how much the table, which adds to the drama of the fall, actually makes it possible to fall from those heights by absorbing quite a bit of the momentum as it breaks. They fought back into the ring at 12:00. Kash reversed a Styles clash and rolled up Styles with a huracanrana for a near fall. When Styles kicked out, Kash threw a fit, giving Styles time to recover. Styles hit Kash with a German suplex and wheel barrow suplex for a near fall. Kash came back with a gut-wrench suplex and a splash for a two count. Kash covered one nostril and blew snot out of the other one. Keith Mitchell gave us a close-up of that. Styles set up a Styles Clash at 15:00. Dallas ran to ringside. Styles tended to him. Kash rolled up Styles from behind. Styles rolled through and leveraged Kash into a three count. WINNER: Styles at 15:19. STAR RATING: ***1/4 -Dallas attacked Styles right away. Killings made the save, taking down Kash and Dallas with clotheslines. Brown then attacked Killings with a Pounce. Styles then gave Brown an enzuigiri. As Styles turned to Kash, Brown gave Styles a Pounce. Jeff Hardy then ran out and gave Brown a Twist of Fate and a face plant to Dallas. Hardy then flipped onto Kash and kicked Brown. Hardy then played to the crowd. Small point, but they really ought to create some reason for Hardy to be there. Having him just run into the ring without any reason for being at the show in the first place seems a bit contrived.
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Having just watched the show, I'd say the Styles-Kash match was the best "brawl" in TNA's history. Jarrett could learn a thing or 2 watching that spectacle.

slimm44 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 The show was pretty slow tonight live. The best part was when the fan tried to fight Kash and Kash stole the Chicken Hat from the other guy. Both guys were really worked up, it was not part of the show. The main event was great, the tag matches were pretty slow, but overall better than it looked. After the show went off the air, AJ,Truth and Hardy fought Kash,Dallas and Monty Brown out of the ring but everyone kept taunting so they tried to keep brawling. Brown got on the mike and made the main event a six man tag between them. AJ, Hardy and Truth thanked the fans and went around shaking hands.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I don't think AJ should have gone over. Basic Booking 101 says that the heel gets the better of the face more than the face gets the better of the heel until the blowoff.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I don't think AJ should have gone over. Basic Booking 101 says that the heel gets the better of the face more than the face gets the better of the heel until the blowoff. I think I would have to agree with you on this one LAZ. There is basically no reason to have AJ win considering that they have been putting so much time into the feud. I don't think AJ would be as hurt by the loss as much as Kash is either. Kash should have simply won the match through interference or on a fluke type thing as it would have gotten Kash over even more as a heel. But if we have said it a hundred times, TNA isn't concerned with drawing money.....they would rather just blow all the good feuds off and continuing ones that seem on to drag on forever that nobody cares about. Hopefully they are deciding to go the AJ/Daniels route and finally start putting on some kick ass matches.....but that is probably WAY too much to ask...... slimm44 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Yeah I noticed that too. But AJ gets a huge pop everytime he comes out, and Kash picks fights with the fans and can get carried away, as we saw tonight.

So Wade Keller's star ratings are are your end all on match quality? The guy is an idiot. If one considers that Keller is VERY generous --- far too generous --- with his ratings, it's not unfair. If the best Keller can come up with is ***1/2 or so for a match, the show is unmitigated crap. It'd be like if, say, you said a show was "okay" --- which to the average fan, means that JJ and Dusty Rhodes worked an Ironman Match in a match that is disappointing, even considering the performers. -=Mike

Guest spags56 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 from meltz: . Sonjay Dutt beat Raven in a Hangman's Horror match in 10:04. They said Sabu was injured on Saturday night in Buffalo. Raven went off on how Sabu faked an injury and ran away, just like The Sheik used to do. He challenged Dutt to come out. 2 guys in hoods, one of whom may have been Jim Mitchell, were watching. At one point Raven was hanging Dutt, but Dutt used his legs for a triangle. Of course, most fans don't know a triangle. Raven broke it with a chair shot. Crowd was dad for this match again. Big spot was Raven slamming Dutt off the top rope through a table. Good finish, as Dutt went under the ring, and as Raven went to check on him, Dutt threw a fireball, shades of Sheik, and then hung Raven to win. People popped for the upset. I don't know what this does for Sabu since clearly the feud was designed to build for Sabu doing that spot. Mike Tenay did a taped interview with Jeff Jarrett. He said Monty Brown was a AA ballplayer. 2. Petey Williams pinned Chris Sabin in 9:09. Crowd wasn't much into this match either until the finish. These two started out together. Sabin got Williams up for a razor's edge like move, ran all the way across the ring and dropped him on the turnbuckles. Scott D'Amore came out late and hit Sabin with the hockey stick. And here comes Dusty. D'Amore ran away, and well, Dusty wasn't going to catch him that way. Sabin used the cradle shock but the ref was occupied with separating Rhodes and D'Amore. Bobby Roode hit the ring with the ref missing it to lay out Sabin with a rabbit lariat (clothesline to the back of the head) and Williams used the Canadian destroyer for the pin. D'Amore tried to escape from Rhodes, but Konnan & B.G. James stopped him, grabbed him and threw him into the ring. Before Rhodes could do anything, Williams pulled D'Amore to safety. Vince Russo came out and started yelling at Rhodes. They kept throughout the show cutting away to the parking lot where Russo and Rhodes were arguing. The gist seems to be that Russo is threatening to fire Rhodes because he keeps getting involved, but Rhodes says he only does what the fans want him to do and he's too old to change. Michael Shane said that he and Frankie Kazarian could pick up any woman anywhere, sleep with them, and wake up the next morning and leave town without caring about it. As they were bragging, Traci, who is supposed to be in love with Shane, nodded approvingly. Wrestling relationships are such fun. Shane said they were like Mary Kate and Ashley, or Venus and Serena. How about Mike & Ben? Next week they are wrestling La Park & Psicosis. Vito wants David Young. Well, we need at least one terrible feud every week. 3. XXX beat AMW in 9:05 in match No. 2 of the best-of-three. Good, but a level below last week. AMW kind of worked as the heels, not really heelish, but it was Daniels selling and selling and making a hot tag to Elix Skipper. They kept working on Daniels' shoulder. Daniels ended up going crazy. Daniels ended up pinning Harris after Skipper had tripped Harris as he was going for the spear. Harris was bleeding from the mouth. Monty Brown was doing an interview. This guy has so much charisma it isn't even funny. If something happens to this group, WWE should sign him. Only problem is, they'll probably push him like Luther and never have him do interviews, and only try to push him as a wrestler, which he needs work on. Kid Kash & Dallas came out and said they wanted to join with him because of all the backstage politics and favoritism that Vince Russo plays. Brown said the Alpha Male hunts alone and needs no backup. He talked about the pounce period and the Serenghetti (is that the right spelling because I have no idea what it is, other than Monty says every week it's a dangerous place). 4. Brown pinned Ron Killings in 8:02 with the POUNCE PERIOD. Unfortunately, Brown can't live up to his interviews in the ring, although he is getting better. So-so match. Killings used the ax kick when Kash pulled ref Rudy Charles out of the ring. A.J. Styles ran out to fight with Kash, while Brown used his finisher. 5. Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens kept the NWA tag titles over Konnan & B.G. James in 10:16. This match was a lot better than I expected. Good. Konnan & James are both wrestling by far the best they have since they came to TNA. Naturals worked well with them, which worried me. Konnan & James also have the crowd into their matches, which most of the people in the company don't. D'Amore hit James with the hockey stick when he was about to do the pump handle slam. Rhodes came in and was beating on D'Amore and Johnny Devine. He also interfered on The Naturals, but the ref saw it and DQ'd 3 Live Kru for his interference. Russo was mad at Rhodes for screwing up again. The terrible Goldylocks segment of the week aired. Desire came out and wanted Sonny Siaki back. It ended up being Desire will get someone to face someone that Goldylocks picks and if Desire's man wins, she gets Siaki back. If Goldylocks wins, she gets Desire's contract. Abyss came out and Goldylocks told her to clean up the slop. They certainly hinted Abyss would be Desire's surprise guy next week. David Young, Vito and Trinity brawled in the ring. Vito gave Young some wicked kendo stick shots. Chris Vaughn of security took a few kendo stick shots and fired back on Vito. It wound up with Don Harris breaking it up. 6. A.J. Styles pinned Kid Kash in a street fight in 15:18. It wasn't the prettiest match, but it was intense as hell. They brawled all over the building, and they brawled like they meant it as opposed to the usual let's go all over and do nothing brawling. Kash got tremendous heat and nearly got into it with a fan. Don't know what happened but the fan took his shirt off and the cameras focused on something else and we didn't see Kash. They ended up in the upper deck. Styles did a side slam on the steps. Kash did what was supposed to be a DDT on the steps, but it was botched. Then he did it right the second time. These two guys are going to be feeling this match tomorrow. They ended up brawling on the wrong side of the rail in the upper deck, and both took a bump together off the upper deck through a table. Looked to be an 6-7 foot drop. Then they got in the ring and did all kinds of near falls. Dallas was on the apron. Kash went for a cradle but Styles reversed it and got the pin. Very strong for a TNA main event. Dallas attacked Styles after the match. Killings made the save. Brown came in and gave Styles the pounce. Jeff Hardy made the save, cleaning house on everyone. This was the first time since he's been there that physically, Hardy came across like a star. Next week: Kazarian & Shane vs. Park & Psicosis AMW vs. XXX in Match 3 Nothing else was announced, but I'm guessing Brown & Kash & Dallas vs. Styles & Killings & Hardy, and David Young vs. Vito. They'll probably announce that stuff tomorrow night.
