Guest Urine Sane Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Okay, I know how you can get a free iPod (or mini), all it requires is a little bit of work. There's a site where you basically have to compete and offer. The easiest offer is "sign up for an ebay account and make a bid on something." You'll have to make a new account for the thing to work, but after that, you can just bid on something that you know will go for more than 1 dollar, and bid 1 dollar on it. Or if you're really anxious I can give you a link someone I know set up, and if you win the bid you won't have to pay. After that you have to refer 5 ppl to do the same thing. It does seem like a lot of work, but only takes 5-10 minutes to do the ebay thing. If you're interested, the link is http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=8121051 After you complete the offer, it will update in about a day So basically, with a little bit of work, you can get an ipod for absolutely free. EDIT: if it says you need a credit card to sign up at ebay, you have to use a nonfree email (@aol, .edu, etc) Looks like the ebay route might be gone, the aol one is pretty easy.
Guest Urine Sane Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Here's some sites reporting about it, it's legit. http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,64614...tw=wn_tophead_2 http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=935964 http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=935969 http://www.gearlive.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=142
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 We just had dealings with this offer a few weeks ago in general.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Yeah, I found out about this a month back. I actually thought I would start 5 new accounts and then use them, but that has to be easy so I haven't done it.
JJMc Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 See, the thing is (same deal with the free TV), you need the 5 people to sign up for one of the offers, too. I thought I was in the other night...I signed up for the Columbia House thing, then I see that EIGHT more people "I knew" had to do the same. Fuckin a. Is there a way a group of us could get together and get one for each of us? There must be.
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Considering we're all probably trying to use the fake accounts for this whole thing, we could help each other out. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours...
Fökai Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Considering we're all probably trying to use the fake accounts for this whole thing, we could help each other out. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours... http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=8122777 OK, I'll create a new account later to complete an offer under you. If SIX people can get together and complete an offer (1 for themselves, 5 for the others), we'll be able to get an I-Pod for everyone. Breakdown of every offer for both FreeIPod.com and FreeFlatScreens.com... Gearlive.com seems to have set up a HUGE referral chain to get hundreds of users their free stuff. PM me to get this in sync, VX.
Hank Kingsley Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Hey, this sounds like a good idea.
JJMc Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Wait, you're all linking to the same damn site, we need some order. Anyone want to be the "captain" so to speak and outline who refers who, etc.?
AmericanDragon Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 ...You think they're that stupid? Your account will just be placed on hold if you sign up for new accounts under each other. Just do it the right way and you'll get the ipod. Mine's shipping next week.

PM me to get this in sync, VX. Doesn't work that way. Six people can't do it so each of them gets an ipod. This is the real method for conga lines like on gearlive. One person signs up, posts his referral link. Five UNIQUE people each sign up through his referral link. Since user 1 now has 5 referrals, his link is dropped. 1st user of the 5 that signed up for him is posted. Now that user needs five MORE UNIQUE referrals. It grows exponentially. Each user needs 5 unique referrals. Those referrals can't have more than one account or sign up for other's accounts. You pretty much screwed each other if you decided to complete an offer because you can't create a new account.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I hate bravesfan for making me believe that I had my offer completed... and AmericanDragon is right -- that's the catch about pyramid schemes.
Fökai Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 It'll be hard to eventually END a conga line, won't it? The guy on the end (the eventual end) will probably get bit in the ass if no one helps him out on his referrals. ::gives up, signs up at gearlive.com::
Guest Frank Stallone Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Looks like the same company giving away the ipods is giving away flatscreen tvs. GearLive did the offer and recieved their TV. Here's Flatscreen Site
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Looks like the same company giving away the ipods is giving away flatscreen tvs. GearLive did the offer and recieved their TV. Here's Flatscreen Site Is it the same referral/deals as FreeiPods.com? I did the only one I'd be interested in for FreeiPods already (the Columbia House DVD 5 for 49cents deal...since I plan on lowering my DVD purchasing in the next few months anyway [an unfortunate consequence of not working and going back to school], having to pay more per disc will help that out ), however, if there are additional offers at FreeFlatScreens.com I might try checking it out. By the by, I have "enough" people, however, none of them have completed offers. One of them is one of my friends, but the other people's e-mail addresses I don't recognize, so I assume them to be from this forum. I'm not going to post people's e-mail addys w/o permission in a public forum, so if you originally signed up or think you signed up from my referral (which was posted several weeks ago in Kotz's "pyramid scheme" thread that since got closed and I can't find...my referral ID is 7788814), can you PM me with your e-mail, just so I can keep track of who I "referred"? Oh, and let me know if you completed or plan on completing an offer, because if not, I'm going to need to bug some more people. Oh, and what's up with Kotz's and the original thread being closed, but this one left open? Were they "spam" because they were in General Chat?
Cran Da Maniac Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Already had to deal with this scam.
Guest Frank Stallone Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Hey guys if you haven't signed up yet and you want to, please use my friends link, he helped me out so I figure I'll repay the favor. http://www.freeipods.com/default.aspx?referer=8125695 Thanks guys.
