EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 I really don't know what's going to be on, and I'll miss it anyway. But heck, if you guys are around, discuss away!
Australian Pride Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 I believe we have the BIG Australia/US mens basketball match today. Not sure what time it's on, but hopefully the Boomers get up!
chaosrage Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 We won a lot of medals today. (Or yesterday?) Isn't it a little early for a thread? Fucking insane win by Paul Hamm. All the way from 12th place to get the gold by 12 thousandths of a point. That was incredible. The announcers didn't even think he had much of a chance of getting the bronze after that fall. "Is a bronze possible?" - an announcer
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 19, 2004 Author Report Posted August 19, 2004 We won a lot of medals today. (Or yesterday?) Isn't it a little early for a thread? Yes, but I wasn't sure I'd be available this morning.

Guest croweater Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 HOW FREAKING HOT ARE WE FROM THE 3pt LINE
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Now it's men's doubles Badminton. They just said some crazy stat pertaining to the speed of the game. The highest number of hits in a single rally was 43. Time for the rally: 29 seconds. That's nuts. Right now, the Koreans are handing Indonesia their asses.
razazteca Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Chick badminton is on Bravo right now. This is addictive. Did you she the blond brit from MSNBC?
Guest Nanks Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Devastated. We put up such a fight for 3 quarters but someone taught the Yanks how to play zone D at half time and all of a sudden they had all the answers. It really was about time the US started playing some real ball and it was good from a sports fan point of view to see them with a bit of intensity and even playing some backcourt D in that last quarter. Shane "Hammer" Heal's still got it though, so much fire and he was hot from outside tonight too. I just hope we can go out with a bang and knock off Puerto Rico on our way out the door.
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 The big story this afternoon was Aaron Piersol nearly getting screwed out of a Gold Medal in the backstroke. The judges DQd him for no good reason (although there is speculation about it being for his earlier critical comments about the judging). He was eventually reinstated after Austrian Marcus Rogan, who was moved up to Gold following the DQ spoke out on Piersol's behalf. Phelps won #4 in his biggest shoe-in of the games (200m IM), but the Piersol/Rogan story is the biggest of the day. China won their second Gold in badminton today after a come from behind win against the British in mixed doubles.
