As the crowds filter out of the Alamo Dome the Dragon remains in the locker-room. She has not seen Frisco yet following her disastrous match with The Superior One and is not really in a hurry to see his reaction. As his radio plays an imported Japanese CD she finishes a bottle of spring water and tries to ignore the physical pain that is eating away at her.

As she drinks her water a knock is heard on the door. She is slow to answer it but relieved to see it is Frisco. It is pretty surprising that he appears in good spirits even after what happened earlier. As she lets him in his is followed by the ominous Mr. Tanner who is not smiling and has a pretty unpleasant look on his face.

 

“Tough match, Kid” Frisco says as he rubs the Dragons shoulders.

 

“I so sorry” Candace responds as she gauges Frisco for a reaction. “I don’t know why, I just couldn’t get anything going in the ring tonight”

 

A smile appears on Frisco’s usually sour face as he gives the Dragon a quick hug.

 

“Hell you were in there against a two time world champ. Flesher is a tough son-of-a-bitch. I had no illusions that you were going to steal the show tonight. You did your best and that’s all I can ask from you.”

 

A smile passes on the Dragons face as she feels relieved.

 

Frisco reaches into his pocket and removes a wad of bills. The Dragon recognizes this as the usual pay for her match and smiles as Frisco slips it into her duffle bag.

 

“Next week I do much better” the Dragon promises as she feels a bit uneasy at getting the payment after her poor performance.

 

As Frisco turns to leave he stops. He remains quiet for a moment then turns back to face the Dragon. He is no longer smiling.

 

“You know Candace” he starts in a low tone. “I paid $2500 to bring you over here from Japan. Last week you cost me $5000 when you lost to Jamie Drazon. Now you just got your clock cleaned by Flesher.”

 

The Dragon looks down as she realizes Frisco is not happy.

 

“Next week you’ll come in here and probably get your ass kicked by that freak in a Penguin suit.” He says as he shakes his head. “And I’ll still end up paying you…”

 

The dragon is quiet as Mr. Tanner walks away with a disgusted look on his face.

 

“You’ve become a liability” Frisco offers as the Dragon looks on. “I didn’t get to where I am today by dealing with liabilities”

 

The Dragon is quiet as Frisco makes eye contact with her.

 

“I sorry” is all she can say as Frisco takes a long pause.

 

“Me Too, Kid”

 

At that moment a steel chair smashed hard across the Dragons skull. The Impact drives her to her knees as the room spins. She tries to figure out where the blow came from as another one crashes down on her head as well.

 

Mr. Tanner grabs the stunned Dragon by the scruff of the next and rifles her head first into the steel lockers. She falls lifelessly to the ground as Frisco begins to go through her duffle bag. He finds the match pay and quickly removes it.

 

“Finally a return on my investment” he says as he puts it back in his wallet.

 

As the Dragon tries to get back to her feet Frisco looks to Mr. Tanner

 

“Finish her” he says as he walks over to a mirror to comb his hair. He turns on the faucet and wets his hands which he runs through his receding black mane.

 

Mr. Tanner again grabs the Dragon by the neck and pulls her towards him. A smile flashes over his face as he hoists her into a power bomb. As Frisco continues with his grooming he can hear the thunderous thud of Candace crashing into the hard locker room floor. He turns to see her crumpled on the floor with Tanner standing over her.

 

Frisco reaches into his wallet and takes out a wrinkled $20 bill. As he leaves he stops and drops it on the Dragon.

 

“That’s your fair for a one way ticket back to China Town” he barks as he leaves.

 

“Consider yourself fired”

 

As Tanner turns to go he quickly fires a kick to the unconscious dragons gut and spits on her.
