A New Era In The WWE

Recommended Posts

Guest Prof_Plague

I recently started a new game of EWR featuring the WWE. I have played as backyard promotions and national companies, but never a consistent game as the promoter of the WWE. ...Until now.

Ensuring only top athletics, a large chunk of the roster has been released. In fact, even some of the WWE's top superstars were released, due to the new Head Promoter, Prof. Plague being unsatisfied with the current talent.

Note: This journal was not my sole idea, I merely stole the idea primarily from TheManErnieRowe - and give credit to him. His thought and views will not be reflected within this game, but rather view his.

Monday, August 2, 2004:

Breaking News:  Wrestling promoter Professor Q.C. Plague has taken over World Wrestling Entertainment!  In this shocking press conference requested by Vince McMahon, Plague has now been given full-authority over the current WWE roster.  Plague stated, "I will work from behind the scenes.  The respected General Managers will address any of my thoughts on any given night of a show.  For now, we are in a new era."  Afterwards Plague also stated a new zero tolerance policy, in which any one under contract may leave the company for any reason.  But he also stated that he will not, "Go mad with power.  This is a company based on entertainment; but more importantly, a company about fine wrestling.  Some wrestler may be asked to leave now that I am now running the company, and some wrestlers just may leave on their own accord.  But I will ensure the continued excellence of World Wrestling Entertainment."

Plague attended Yale where he received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy; received a Master's degree in Law at Stanford, and received a Doctorate in Business, specializing in Sports Management at Harvard.

Raw

The Raw entrance begins and the pyrotechnics go off. Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler greet the fans to the show.

Ross: Welcome folks! I'm Jim Ross with Jerry "The King" Lawler. As you may or may not have heard, there's a new sheriff in town and his name is Q.C. Plague.

Lawler: Ross, I can't believe it! Prof. Plague has taken over the company! Back when I wrestled in the South, Plague was only a name you heard of, but never actually met. He's the man who one day took over NWA North-Eastern territory in the early 80s and turned it into a family-wholesome show like the 1960s! The guy made a mint for NWA, and then left once Ted Turner buy-out the company. Now look what happened to it! ANd Plague is the type of guy who was walking down the street, saw Harley Race - and the Race gave him a dirty look, and before you knew it, the medics had to scrape Race off the cement! This guy is just plain amazing, Ross!

Ross: As for now, Vince is in the ring with a very important announcement!

Vince McMahon is in the ring: Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the first night of many changes within the company. Tonight, I have been given a list of wrestler who have been asked to leave the WWE for whatever reasons. We all must understand that this is a time of change. And of good change. As Prof. Plague created change within the company, we all must learn to tighten our belts. When he says jump, we will say: How high, Prof. Plague? But, before we continue here tonight, I have to introduce you to a new talent sought-out by Prof. Plague. :AJ Styles music plays and remains on the sound stage.: As for now, we all must understand that these next few weeks will be rough at first, but will be better in the long-run. And it is because of these reasons that Prof. Plague has requested that the roster split be "lifted" in the mean-time.

Overall: 79

Ross: Wow, King. Plague just broke the roster split! The backstage will be sure anarchy!

Lawler: And AJ Styles! How did Plague get AJ Styles?! Styles has refused to sign contract with the WWE for a long time now! But Plague got him!

McMahon: Also tonight, I have been given this list which I must read. This will be posted on the Titantron as I go. The following wrestlers have been asked to leave the company.

Raw - August 9, 2004

The pyrotechnics start the show and Ross and Lawler welcome the crowd, as usual.

Ross: Good evening, folks! What a wild week it's been this past week in the WWE! I've heard the saying, "Anything can happen in the WWE." and boy, do I believe it now!

Lawler: That's right, Ross! I can't believe it either! Plague has taken over this company by storm! Nothing is going to be left untouched by the end of the month!

Ross: I know. I can only think that Prof. Plague is going to continue to clean this company up! I'm getting work that new Raw Manager Mikey Whipwreck is backstage and has an announcement to make.

Mikey Whipwreck is backstage: You know fans, I've been thinking. This past Thursday Eddie Guerrero and Ultimo Dragon had a little match for the U.S. title. In fact, Eddie enjoyed the match so much that he continued to stomp away on Ultimo Dragon afterwards. So, if you enjoyed it that much Eddie, you can Ultimo Dragon can do it again, tonight! And, for your U.S. title, no less. Oh, and for the heck of it. My favorite wrestler Triple H is also going to have a match tonight. In fact, you're going to start the show tonight by defending the Heavy-Weight title to Val Venis. You know, I just want to ensure that we have enough time for the match.

Lawler: Really? Val Venis gets a Heavy-Weight title shot? Just like that?

Ross: King, this isn't like before. Plague said there'd be change, and to instill change, he hired that man, Mikey Whipwreck. He knew Whipwreck would be just crazy enough to do and to try anything!

You might have thought so before with the McMahons running this entire company; well, that time has faded past! This is the time of change and the time of Plague! And right now, you're about to get Plagued! Triple H, you say that you are "The Game", to make sure you are ontop of you "Game", you will have a second match tonight thanks to executive decision. SmackDown! - Thursday, August 12, 2004

The pyrotechnics start off and Michael Cole and Tazz welcome the crowd to SmackDown!

Cole: Tazz, things are still getting heated up here in the WWE!

Tazz: In know what you mean, Cole. People getting hired and fired left and right...even people backstage! And Whipwreck is in charge...even making more decisions than McMahon! I don't believe this!

Cole: In fact Mikey Whipwreck is backstage and has something to say.

Mikey Whipwreck is backstage: You know, if there's anything I learned about being a wrestler, is that you can be very under-rated. So, that's why I think it's time for a top athlete in this company to defend his title against another top athlete in this company. Kurt Angle, tonight you're going to defend your title against someone you know very well. In fact, you even trained him. Tonight you're going to defend the WWE World title against Charlie Haas! I know, I love it, too!

Overall: 71

Cole: Wow, Tazz. Just like that Whipwreck can give anybody a title match.

I could just take it right now, but I won't. Instead I'll just be thorn in your side in the mean-time. You give me a title shot, and I'll win the title, and then we'll be all-set. :Matt Hardy starts walking away.: Oh, and by the way...here's your title back. :Matt walks over and smacks Rey in the face with how own title belt! And leaves the belt draped around his neck. Matt begins to walk-off, shakes his head, and the looks back at Rey down again. He smirks.: You know...I have better idea. And then demanded a title shot, hit him in the head with his own title belt, and then gave Mysterio the Yodel Legdrop from the top rope while he left the belt on Mysterio's throat! That's just sick, Tazz! He doesn't deserve a title shot if he does stuff like that!

Tazz: Cole, sometimes a man just needs to find a way to get noticed around here! And Hardy knows here it's at - and Mysterio has what he wants! This is going to be fun, Cole!

Cole: Yeah, but how will Mysterio re-act once he comes-to? You think he'll reply to Hardy with a match just because Hardy says so? ...Yeah right, Tazz!

Ultimo Dragon is in the ring, about to make an announcement to the crowd when Eddie Guerrero runs out and attacks. Eddie hits low blow and slide out of the ring and grabs a chair and floors Ultimo with it! He wraps the chair around the ankle of Ultimo Dragon, then climbs to the second rope. He leaps off with a double-footed stomp to the chair, causing it to snap shut, pillmanizing Ultimo Dragon, who rolls around in agony. Eddie smiles and walks back over to Ultimo Dragon. Damn, I knew he was a harsh grader in real life, just didn't know it was that bad in the game.

It looks like you were using an older file update, that could be a cause of the horrible ratings due to stats being incorrect.

Last I knew, that was the most recent update.

Yeah, and if I remember correctly, the stats weren't where they should've been. When I first downloaded that version I found myself going through and altering stats back to where I thought they belonged. It worked out well for me :)

Tazz: Cole, I don't know. I'm a little worried, though. Plague just took over this company less than a month ago, and now he has to love up to the expectations of SummerSlam - the biggest PPV next to WrestleMania. Can Prof. Plague pull off a good show?

Cole: I don't know Tazz. I wonder if there'll be anymore strange announcements in this upcoming week.

Mikey Whipwreck is backstage: Last week I said would like to help out the ones in this company who are talented and deserve a title shot, but are never going to because of the politics backstage! That's why tonight we're going to see Triple H and Bubba Ray Dudley fight one on one for the WWE Heavy-Weight title!

Eddie Guerrero is in his locker-room when Michael Hayes walks into his room:

Hayes: Eddie, I have a quick, simple question. Why are you here tonight?

If you knew anything, you knew I was tonight for Ultimo Dragon. Ultimo Dragon, you think you can just show up and be a thorn in my side and keep requesting a shot at the U.S. title; boy, you're getting this all wrong. I might be the U.S. champion and will defend it whenever I need to, but I shouldn't have to keep facing you. I've beaten you already, you should just keep moving on, man. Your time has past, it's someone else's turn for a shot for the U.S. title. And as fro you as Hayes, it's time for you to get going. :Eddie turns Hayes around towards the door and smacks his back. Cole: That Eddie Guerrero is such a cheater, Tazz!

Tazz: Yeah, but you have to admire him for his cunning and skill. He gets Ultimo Dragon every time.

My Opinion: *****! What can I say! It earned EVERY star. You, my friend, know what you're doing!

Mikey Whipwreck enters the ring: Triple H! You think you're so hot in the company right now because you're the WWE Heavy-Weight champion. Which makes me think, you're nothing without that title belt. Which lead me to a further thought, SummerSlam is coming-up, and you need to defend your title. Hm...let me think on that. Wait! I've got an idea to who you will wrestle. But I'm not going to tell you - you'll just have to find out on Sunday. Yeah Triple H, I know - I love it too.

Rock: Who the hell do you think you are Michael P.S. Hayes? You walk your candy-ass into my dressing room, and ask me stupid monkey crap like that!

Hayes: Well, I just...

Rock: It doesn't matter what you think, Hayes! You see this mic, Hayes? You can turn that sonavabitch sideways - and stick straight-up your candy-ass! You better get moving P.S. Hayes - things are about to go down if you smell-ell-ell-ell what The Rock is cookin'! :Rock pushes Hayes out and slams the locker-room dorm.:

Vince McMahon walks out to the soundstage: Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. Prof. Plague hired you for a reason. He told you to re-organize this company and you started out well, but now what are you doing? You swinging chairs at our WWE Heavy-Weight champion? There was a reason why he was not released by Prof. Plague, and Prof. Plague is not happy that you've gone about the company doing stuff like this. So that's why we need to your and Triple H's opinions aside to run this company back on track like Prof. Plague wants it to. So, that's why at SummerSlam you and Triple H have to get this out of the way. I don't care if it's one-on-one, hardcore, cage, ladder; I don't even care if it's for the WWE Heavy-Weight title. I just want to see this a little thing between you two get cleared up before Prof. Plague starts noticing what's going on around here.

The mental image of J.R. and King sitting around speculating over some mystery booker named "Plague" just amuses me waaay too much :)

And how the hell did Cena vs Bubba Ray get ***3/4?

And how the hell did Cena vs Bubba Ray get ***3/4?

Haha. I don't know. Like I said, everyone in the game has unaltered stats.

I would like to think that the random good matches, such as Cena vs. Dudley, of my upper-midcarders makes up for my 1/2* matches between my main eventers, i.e. Triple H vs. The Rock. And I just had pure luck between Guerrero vs. Ultimo Dragon - nothing less than ****1/2.

I would like to think that I arrange more above-average matches between wrestlers like Cena, Dudley, Kanyon, et cetera. My future goal: When Val Venis returns, turn him into a ***3/4 wrestler. May be even work him up to ****. Hey, I can dream.

...Anything is possible in the WWE!

What is Prof. Plague doing backstage?  Rumor has it that Plague is going to form new tag teams in the upcoming weeks and reunite former tag teams.  In recent shows we've noticed the re-grouping of Edge and Christian.  With more wrestlers being added from OVW to the full-time roster, we can only wait and see to who will appear on the full-roster and what their position in the company will be.

SmackDown! - Thursday, August 26, 2004

The pyros start and Tazz and Cole welcome the crowd.

Tazz: Holy crap, Cole! We're less than 3 days away from SummerSlam!

Cole: I know Tazz! It's going to be exciting! Plague is waiting last minute to tell us what the cards are going to be, so we just have to wait and see.

Mikey Whipwreck is backstage: I walk in today. All I hear is Triple H this, and Triple H that. Heavy-weight champion, this and Heavy-weight champion that. Triple H, we all know you are nobody in this company if it weren't for your buddy, Ric Flair! Oh, Mr. Manager do that talking for me, or Ric, I don't want to wrestle tonight, can you ask Mr. McMahon to let me not wrestle tonight...I've got a tummy ache. Hah! You're such a fool! We don't take that sort of crap in the Plagued era of the WWE! Triple H, as long as you're in this company, and as long as I'm in the company, you are going to defend that title whenever I feel like - and make you defend. And that's whenever I feel like. And let's face it, I'm going to be with this company for a while. I can't guarantee how long for you. And how do I say that? Allow me to elaborate. Last Monday night on Raw, Vince assigned a match for SummerSlam, me versus you. He said he didn't care how we did it, as long as we had a match and this little problem was resolved. So, how about this? Your Heavy-Weight title on the line in a cage match! And I'll tell you what, you have no choice in the matter! I'm the Commissioner and this is what Prof. Plague wants! So it has been decided. ...I know, I love it, too!

SummerSlam - August 29, 2004

A specially designed set is displayed to the full-arena for the first Pay-Per View in the Prof. Plague era of World Wrestling Entertainment. SummerSlam ends with the conclusion to Heat and Jim Ross and Jim Cornette welcoming the crowd to SummerSlam!

End of Heat:

Mikey Whipwreck comes to the ring: I just wanted to come out one more time tonight to say how excited I am to smash Triple H's face into the steel cage tonight. And you know what, I think I'm going to enjoy being Heavy-Weight champion. You know, as Commissioner, I only have to wrestle once a month. This is going to be awesome! I know, I love it, too! :Out from the back comes Triple H, who slides into the ring.:

Triple H: No Mikey, you can take that back You're not going to be the Heavy-Weight champ tonight, you're not going to be anything. :Flair attacks from behind with a sledge hammer and falls forward and falls into a Pedigree! by Triple H!: Whipwreck - you've fallen back, looks like I won't have to defend the title tonight. :Paramedics run in and try to get Whipwreck out of the ring:

Overall: 85

:A new entrance music plays. Randy Savage comes out from the back to the soundstage.: Oooohhh yeah! Welcome everyone to SummerSlam! I would like to announce that I have made a special appearance tonight, just because I heard Mikey would be wrestling tonight for the Heavy-Weight title. But it looks like Triple H took care of that. Hey, Triple H - you must not have read your contract for this match close enough. It stated that if someone were to happen to Whipwreck, I get to take over his position tonight. No, not for the Heavy-Weight title, as much I would like that; no, I get to take over the position as Commissioner of SummerSlam! And Triple H, you will be defending the Heavy-Weight title tonight. But I'm going to get back to you later tonight on who's going to be. Oh yeah! Dig it!

Tonight at SummerSlam - you're going to wrestle AJ Styles! Oh, and that's not all. You two are going one-on-one in an Iron-Man Match. Ooooo...yeah! Dig it!

Overall: 84

Ross: Did you hear that Jim? AJ Styles! Savage got Styles in SummerSlam! How did they pull that off?

Cornette: AJ Styles might be a talented athlete, but he's still new to this company. This match could go either way!

Triple H vs. AJ Styles.

Match Background: This will be an Iron Man bout for the World Heavyweight title as ordered by Randy Savage earlier in the night, once he gained control from Mikey Whipwreck when Triple H attacked him before SummerSlam started, at the end of Heat. HHH and Flair bail out of the ring, leaving AJ Styles down in the ring. Mikey Whipwreck may have saved AJ Styles from a brutal beating.

Whipwreck: Triple H, we're not done yet. Just because you can have Flair attack me from behind proves nothing! I'll be seeing you soon enough! Remember, I can still order you to do whatever I feel like.

My Opinion: 1/4*. Be happy it's not a DUD.

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Jericho.

Jericho: You know everyone tonight seems to like to add a little something to their matches. So, how about it Angle? Let's add a little something to the WWE World title match. You seem to think that you're the greatest technical wrestler ever, so I want to prove you wrong. You have the Angle Lock, but I, Chris Jericho, Y2J - with all my Jericho-holics, have the Walls of Jericho! So, how about it, Olympic punk? A submission match. Right here, right now. And for the WWE World title.

Ross: Wow, Jimmy! What a night! Plague was right, he did have a few tricks up his sleeve! I can't believe it!

Cornette: I know! And a new Heavy-Weight champion - just like that! Kind of funny in an ironic sort of way. Triple H beats down Mikey Whipwreck to get out of the match tonight, but then he has to wrestle AJ Styles - and loses!

Ross: We have a new Heavy-Weight champion! We'll see you all on Raw tomorrow night!

So, last night Triple H loses his Heavy-Weight title belt against AJ Styles in his wrestling debut.  Smarks and workers backstage are happy, but fans and Triple H aren't.  After the match, Triple H went out of his way backstage to make it personally known that he had to carry the title match at SummerSlam.  "I had to do everything I could to keep that match together.  You think a wrestler like AJ Styles could?  He's still a rookie in this business.  I earned my place in the industry and the WWE.  I don't think AJ Styles can handle being in the spot-light.  The kid is only 25.  He won't last."  So not only is Triple H angry at the executives and Head Booker Prof. Plague about having to lose the title, he has to deal with someone 10 years younger than him holding, as he sees it, his Heavy-Weight title.

In less than a month, a lot of Triple H's friends backstage have been released from the WWE, lost his Heavy-Weight title, and forced into a feud against Mikey Whipwreck.  To say that least, Triple is not a happy camper.  Rumor has it that AJ Styles is set to move-onto a different feud, and not a further one with Triple H, perhaps in attempts to regain the title.

SmackDown - September, 2, 2004

The pyros start the show and Michael Cole and Tazz welcome the crowd.

Cole: Well Tazz, it's now been a little less than a week now for our new Heavy-Weight champion AJ Styles, and he's already looking good. Even this past Raw he was set to wrestle World champion Kurt Angle, and those two had an exciting match!

Tazz: You're telling me. Heavy-Weight champion versus World champion. It was one interesting match. They kept going back-and-forth - we thought and Angle was about to win, and then we thought Styles was going to win, and before we knew it - the time limit expired!

Cole: One again, this is becoming more and more interesting as the weeks pass. This truly is the Plagued Era of World Wrestling Entertainment!

My Opinion: Almost got a **** match, but was lacking in certain areas, so ***3/4.

Angle's Challenge

Kurt Angle's music plays and enters the ring: It's true, it's true. Your Olympic hero is still the reigning World Champion. And I may add, SummerSlam against Chris Jericho was one quick match,. He couldn't have expected to beat a gold medal Olympic champ such as myself not to beat him in a submission match! So, as I am the greatest WWE athlete to grace this company with such style and grace, I am offering an open challenge for tonight for my WWE World title. :Out from the back comes the debuting Ken Shamrock.:

Shamrock: No Kurt. I am the greatest athlete in the WWE today. You might think you're a great submission wrestler because you're an Olympian, but you don't know what real wrestling is. I've never seen to make someone tape out in an Olympic match before., but I've made people tap out before in the cage. You think you're a great wrestler because you can wrestler the mats, but I've wrestled the Octagon. :Shamrock attacks Angle - He hits the Belly To Belly followed by an Ankle Lock! He pins Bubba Ray Dudley: 1....2....3!

My Opinion: ***1\4 rating.

Matt's Ladder of Success

Rey Mysterio is backstage, when Mattitude (Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore) approaches him:

Matt: Rey, I've been doing some thinking, you do really well in that ladder match at SummerSlam. So it made me think of how immune you might actually be to ladders.

Rey: ...What?

:Sean O'Haire comes from behind Rey and slams him behind the head with a ladder! O'Haire throws down the ladder - Matt hits the Twist of Fate on Rey onto the ladder! Rey is out cold!:

Christian takes a NICE hurrancarana from Rey Mysterio. There's a two count on the pin. Tor-NADO DDT from Rey Mysterio, Christian got planted! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Rey drops an elbow...but Christian moves out of the way. Rey gets caught with a belly to belly suplex from Christian! Rey counters a sleeper with a jaw breaker and is able to get free! Hard back suplex on Christian. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Matt Hardy Version 1.0 runs down the aisle and into the ring, carrying a chair! Rey turns...and gets floored with a chair to the head! The referee has no choice but to call for the bell! Disqualification! Rey Mysterio goes on the rampage, firing off stiff shots to both Christian and Matt Hardy Version 1.0, who take the hint and swiftly leave the ring for their own safety.

My Opinion: I'll give it a **1\2 rating, but that's because I didn't mark out once...but nothing was too bad.

Whipwreck's Thoughts

Mikey Whipwreck comes to the ring: Triple H, I must admit you put up one heck of a fight the other night at SummerSlam! Hahahahah! I'm just kidding. That had to have been one of the quickest matches I have ever seen. :Out from the back comes Triple H, who hits the ring and attacks Whipwreck. Whipwreck gets bounced around the ring by punches and kicks. Triple H triumphs over Whipwreck and begins to head towards the back. Mikey Whipwreck gets up slowly: Dammit, Triple H! I'm not done with you yet! You think I didn't know you might do something like this? New York's finest, I want Triple H arrested for assault! :Police officers appear near the stage. Triple H runs back into the ring. Mikey Whipwreck is in trouble. Pedigree!!! He stomps away, but the police hit the ring and handcuff him, before dragging him backstage, leaving Whipwreck down in the ring:

Cole: Oh my Tazz! Mikey Whipwreck has just had Triple H arrested for assault! Oh my god! What's going to happen next between those two?!

Tazz: Cole - let it go. Plague has to look over the company and Mikey Whipwreck is in the man in charge of looking out for Plague's vision, and Triple H thinks he can run-over his plans! Triple H deserves to be arrested! I hope he spends a long time in jail!

Cole: Tazz, I just don't know what to say. I thought it was just going to be a normal night of SmackDown!, but instead I've seen UFC champion Ken Shamrock take down and challenge Kurt Angle for the World title here tonight, Rey Mysterio has been sent to the hospital, and now Triple H is being arrested!

Tazz: Cole, this is a normal night on SmackDown!

Cole: I just can't keep with this! I'm now being asked to have everyone watch the Titantron for a special announcement from Mikey Whipwreck!

Whipwreck's Announcement

Whipwrreck: Hah! Triple H - you think you can do whatever you want in this company. I have a little surprise for you. :A video plays with an raven and clips from the Raven / CM Punk feud and dog collar match.: That's right Triple H, he's coming to the WWE! I have some more reinforcements and you have a something else to worry about.

Overall: 87

Tazz: Oh no, Cole. This can't be true. Raven is coming back to the WWE? Didn't they learn from all the horrors that Raven cost last time?! And now Commissioner Whipwreck and Prof. Plague are welcoming him with open arms! This is a bad, bad, bad idea!

World's Greatest Tag Team vs. Brock Lesnar and The Rock vs. Chris Benoit and Rob Van Dam.

Match Background: This will be an elimination bout. This match is for the World Tag Team titles. World's Greatest Tag Team have been World Tag Team champions since 19 August 2004.

The Match: Benoit is a glutton for punishment and just continues to take it during this match. BIG clothesline on Benoit. Tag to The Rock. Bodyslam by Rock. Hooks the leg for a two count. Chris Benoit elbows The Rock in the face to break a hammerlock. Benoit tags out to Rob Van Dam. RVD \ Benoit whip Rock into the ropes and hit a double backdrop. Rock tags out to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar hits a right hand. Lesnar hits a piledriver on Rob Van Dam. That used to end matches, you know. RVD tags out to Charlie Haas. Charlie Haas charges into the corner, but EATS BOOT and staggers backward. Haas reverses a Brock Lesnar hammerlock. Death valley driver by Charlie Haas! No one executes that move properly anymore. Cover gets three for Charlie Haas, Lesnar got pinned. Super kick by Rob Van Dam. Back heel kick off the second rope, Haas goes down. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! Tag between Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit. Benoit \ RVD whip Haas into the ropes and hit a double back elbow. Hooks the leg for a two count. Charlie Haas pulls a mule kick out of nowhere. Haas tags out to Shelton Benjamin. Death valley driver by Shelton Benjamin! No one executes that move properly anymore. Gutwrench into a powerbomb, aka the Doctor Bomb and Benoit hits hard. Tag to Charlie Haas. Chris Benoit is in trouble. Haastruction!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!!

My Opinion: Nothing offensive, but nothing too special either. **1\2 rating.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho.

Match Background: Styles and Jericho are currently feuding. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud. This match is for the World Heavyweight title. AJ Styles has been World Heavyweight champion since 29 August 2004.

The Match: AJ Styles kicks the leg, knocks Jericho down, and goes to work on it. AJ Styles connects with a back heel kick on Jericho and gets back up quickly. Second rope flying axe handle, Jericho goes down. One day, Styles might even consider coming off the top with that. You know...for more impact and stuff. Flying elbow from AJ Styles connects. AJ Styles misses a clothesline. Hard back suplex on Styles. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Jericho crushes Styles with a running senton. There's a two count on the pin. Chris Jericho gets taken down out of nowhere! Lightning kick by Styles on Jericho. Covers for a quick two count. Power drive elbow by AJ Styles. Pin, but Jericho is out just before the three count. Chris Jericho elbows AJ Styles in the face to break a hammerlock. Jericho scoops and slams AJ Styles. What's the difference between a scoop slam and a body slam anyway? Styles blocks a punch. Flying elbow from AJ Styles connects. Chris Jericho gets whipped into the corner by Styles, who charges in with a clothesline. Jericho grabs the referee and pulls him in the way! The referee calls for the DQ as he collapses to the mat in pain. Chris Jericho gets out of the ring and walks off, having taken the cheap way out. I don't think the fight has finished! AJ Styles and Jericho have begun brawling again! They wind up brawling all the way down the aisle and out of view!

Cole: Those two are going to be going at it. I don't see this fight ending anytime soon!

My Opinion: A ****1\2 rating for a great match.

Ken Shamrock vs. Kurt Angle.

Angle: Ken, are you sure you still want to go through with this tonight. Granted, you might be a former UFC champion, but come on - I'm the WWE World champion. I'm way out of your league. You wouldn't even have had this opportunity if I didn't offer to challenge anyone here tonight.

Shamrock: That one is your mistake, not mine.

Match Background: Shamrock is making his debut at this show. This match is for the WWE World title.

The Match: Hard impact Russian Leg Sweep by Angle. Shamrock walks into a side slam. Think about how much talent it takes to side slam someone. Nash can do it. There's a two count on the pin. Shamrock counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Back suplex on Angle. BAAACK Body drop by Angle gets a bit of a pop from the crowd. Hooks the leg for a two count. Delayed BRAINBUSTER! by Shamrock who held onto that one for ages. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Angle gets caught with a short powerbomb from Shamrock. Kurt Angle once again takes the advantage after blocking a few punches and connecting with some forearms. Gutwrench into a stomach breaker. Shamrock may be winded. There's a two count on the pin. Powerbomb on Shamrock. Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Ken Shamrock takes a butterfly suplex from Angle. Kurt Angle gets up and gives a Belly to belly suplex to Angle. Angle charges into the corner but EATS BOOT. Vertical suplex by Ken Shamrock. Ken Shamrock brings out a jumping powerbomb to nearly murder Angle in the ring! The bell rings. The referee declares that the time limit has expired, and the match is a draw. Ken Shamrock offers a handshake to Angle...and Shamrock accepts it!

Shamrock: This isn't over yet, Angle. This is Olympics versus Ultimate Fighting. I only shook your hand because of the integrity that I have for this sport and for Ultimate Fighting. That had nothing to do with you.

Cole: I think Shamrock is making a big mistake! He might be from UFC, but I don't think he realizes how great Angle really is.

Tazz: I don't know, Cole. They are very evenly matched. They both have very unique styles though - so I really have no idea.

My Opinion: It was either ** or ****, but I guess I'll have to compromise and say ***.
