Guest Anglesault Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 After watching this weeks Smackdown, I have two points and/or questions. With Undertaker ripping that brace off Bradshaw, what are the chance's we've seen the last of it? I'd say it's about 50/50, but they REALLY need to get rid of it. Yes, he's a bumbling goof loser idiot moron fool and we should all laugh at him as this walking joke trips his way through a Honky Tonk reign, but have the writers actually taken the time to think about the last time they ran the "World Champ is a bumbling goof loser idiot moron fool" with both Angle and Jericho doing nothing positive for the company and ending up worse than when their reigns started, sticking them back into the midcard? Do they think Bradshaw can break that string? Do they even care? Did they always intend for this guy to go straight to midcard purgatory after his title reign? If so, why the hell even bother what looks like it can be close to a six month ME push? If they had no plans for him on top, why waste everyone's time? or do they really think this will do any good for JBL? And my second question Really, what in the hell is going on with Kurt and Eddie? Why the hell has a personal feud full of hate turned into two guys taking turns trashing each other's property like bickering neighbors or something? Why doesn't either guy seem to actually hate each other? Kurt seems annoyed by Eddie and Eddie seemed amused by the whole thing, up until the point when Kurt really pissed him off...not by costing him the title, oh no, by ruining his car. So a furious Eddie's answer? Pound Kurt to a pulp? No. Try and ruin his car. What happened?
cabbageboy Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Well, I'll attempt to answer both of these. 1. I think once Bradshaw won the title WWE took a look and said "Holy shit, we've got BRADSHAW with the title?" Basically, they know the guys sucks, we know the guy sucks, so why even really attempt to push him or job out valuable talent to him? They've already seriously hurt Eddie Guerrero's career by jobbing Eddie continually to a guy who has zero chance of ever getting over....why do it to anyone else? Thus, Bradshaw comes out, picks up cheap DQ wins, cuts his silly ads, while everyone tries to forget he even has the title and focuses on the rest of the show. I don't think Bradshaw will have the same fate as Bob Holly, who disappeared soon after his one title shot. But man, oh man, he'll have a few jobs to return on the way down. Eddie and Rey Mysterio both are already lining up for the post Bradshaw title run return jobs. 2. I don't think WWE has run a bona fide "These guys want to kill each other" feud with Austin/HHH. Angle doesn't really work in these feuds because his character can't really be taken totally seriously. Eddie can do a serious feud, as his Bradshaw feud shows, but Angle's character has never been harsh enough to carry a bitter blood feud.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Jericho wasn't an idiot, he just never won clean. His title reign was like a Flair run in the NWA condensed to 3 months and without actual wins over top talent to get him over first.

They've already seriously hurt Eddie Guerrero's career by jobbing Eddie continually to a guy who has zero chance of ever getting over....why do it to anyone else? Because they've come this far. They've had him on top for four months (it will probably reach six, or so) and fucked over Eddie. I'd much rather they run with it from there so all that isn't just a big waste. Eddie can do a serious feud, as his Bradshaw feud shows, but Angle's character has never been harsh enough to carry a bitter blood feud. He did, with Eddie six months ago. The Mania feud, with the exception of the beginning was awesome.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I think Eddie has just snapped in a friendly way so to speak. He lost the title to Bradshaw because of Kurt, Kurt beat him clean, maybe Eddie's just fucking with his mind so he can win his rematch next week, kinda like how Chavo wents nuts in WCW after Eddie after he lost to him on the PPV.

He lost the title to Bradshaw because of Kurt, Kurt beat him clean, maybe Eddie's just fucking with his mind so he can win his rematch next week, kinda like how Chavo wents nuts in WCW after Eddie after he lost to him on the PPV. a) Eddie doesn't have a character who keeps himself calm to play mind games. he has a character that loses his cool all the time. b) If he was playing mind games, why would he lose his mind over a CAR?
Lil' Bitch Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 b) If he was playing mind games, why would he lose his mind over a CAR? Well, he did before against Tajiri last year. And with the Bradshaw, they're treating him like Angle during his first reign, goofy heel who fans want to see get his ass kicked who always cheats to win. Only difference is well Kurt actually earned the title.
Guest JRE Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Anglesault vs. The Eddie/Angle Feud Booking is the Steiner/Test of 2004.

Guest JRE Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Oh one thing though, I usually don't like to argue with you 'cause your mind is obviously not going to be changed at all (the biggest flaw in you making all these repetitive threads for "answers" you will never accept). BUT...this "Pound Kurt to a pulp? No. Try and ruin his car." The goal of Eddie's promo was to get Kurt to fight him. So Eddie runs to the back to POUND KURT TO A PULP, per se, but Kurt runs away. Then Eddie trashed the car in rage....and yes, it was rage, as he trashed the car on instinct without thinking. Ah hell...and it makes fine sense for Kurt to piss of Eddie by dumpking paint on a car since Kurt's punishment to Eddie has been largely mental since WM- from match booking...costing him the ttile...and even dumping paint on a car. As ridiculous as that is.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 And with the Bradshaw, they're treating him like Angle during his first reign, goofy heel who fans want to see get his ass kicked who always cheats to win. Only difference is well Kurt actually earned the title. And, like I said, both Honky Tonk world title reigns that they tried before were negatives. Why would this work any better? Well, he did before against Tajiri last year. I should have said "only over a car" Why does paint on a car throw him into a fit, but costing him the world title (the thing he's "addicted to") amuse him?
Lil' Bitch Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Speaking of Bradshaw, was it even explained why Orlando is tagging with him? And, like I said, both Honky Tonk world title reigns that they tried before were negatives. Why would this work any better? Difference is Angle wasn't the focus of the show all the time. Unfortunately, Bradshaw is.
JoeDirt Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I hate Bradshaw in his neck brace thingy, looking like a buffoon. I HATE having the "cowardly heel champion" thing, especially when it's your main champion. It doesn't do ANY good. It didn't do any good for Angle during his first title reign...he only got over as a badass later when he started breaking Angle's, and therefore got over as a serious threat. It didn't do any good for Jericho in his heel run. If you're going to book JBL as champion, at least book him STRONG. That way, down the road, people might actually want to PAY to see him lose his title. I just think having the cowardly bumbling heel as the MAIN champion of your company just doesn't work.

He was about a foot and a half away from him, when kurt yelled "get off my car" causing Eddie to reach in the opposite direction for a garbage can.

Guest JRE Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Why does paint on a car throw him into a fit, but costing him the world title (the thing he's "addicted to") amuse him? And now I just went against my word and I'm arguing.... The first time Eddie lost the title hurting Kurt would get him suspended. The second time (cage match)- Eddie could indeed have been amused- as Kurt made a fool of himself and put Kurt back on the roster, and in a match with Eddie. It turned into "Fuck you Kurt- you phony" at that point.

Like JBL as champ or not, if they're gonna go with it, they need to make him credible, or else this whole title reign is worthless.

It actually works the opposite way. If the Champ is somewhat credible (Angle's first reign, Jericho's reign) they look like retards. But if the crowd doesn't buy them (Chris Candido, Steve Corino), and they continue to defy the odds and go over the faces, or scrape by on the skin of their teeth, it pisses the fans off to where they'll pay to FINALLY see him get what's coming.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 The second time (cage match)- Eddie could indeed have been amused No, because a hothead wouldn't find what Kurt did to him funny in the least. Giving you that a "firey Latino who can't control his temper" would have enough restaint not to attack him when it could have gotten him suspended, he absolutely wouldn't pass up the chance to try and kill him when an opening showed up. Would you suggest Eddie chasing Kurt around a car? Nice visual. I would have had him chase Angle around the car, over the car, into the car, anything to make it obvious that eddie was more concerned with hurting Angle than the car. They did not.
Guest JRE Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 "No, because a hothead wouldn't find what Kurt did to him funny in the least. Giving you that a "firey Latino who can't control his temper" would have enough restaint not to attack him when it could have gotten him suspended, he absolutely wouldn't pass up the chance to try and kill him when an opening showed up." He got screwed, but he got revenge by Kurt exposing himself and getting a match with Kurt. "firey Latino who can't control his temper" Does all the characterization you know of Eddie come from Michael Cole? Honestly- Eddie isn't a fucking...like...Sid Vicious. Look at the history of Eddie Guerrero and then tell me that he's constantly a "firey Lation who can't control his temper." I know Eddie "likes to have fun", for one, hell, it's another Michael Cole line. "I would have had him chase Angle around the car, over the car, into the car, anything to make it obvious that eddie was more concerned with hurting Angle than the car. They did not." Your booking takes away any intelligence that Angle possesses- why would he let Eddie run to the parking lot and chase him around? He made an obvious distraction ('you trashed my car I'll trash yours') and made the escape. I think it was alot better to have Eddie trash the car then chase after the SUV Luter and Krut were driving away in. Unless his firely Latino temper could make him run faster than a car.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 AS knows that ALL Latinos have fiery tempers, JRE.

He got screwed, but he got revenge by Kurt exposing himself and getting a match with Kurt. And that's the end of that? After Kurt made his life a living hell for months and twice cost him the thing he was "addicted to", He was more than happy to sit around and do nothing to a guy he now could legally rip apart? Does all the characterization you know of Eddie come from Michael Cole? Honestly- Eddie isn't a fucking...like...Sid Vicious. Look at the history of Eddie Guerrero and then tell me that he's constantly a "firey Lation who can't control his temper." Lesnar, Angle and Bradshaw all took advantage (or tried to ) losing his temper in their feuds this year. Your booking takes away any intelligence that Angle possesses- Well, Ideally, he would have set some kind of trap with Luther out there. But Eddie being so pissed that he dispatches of Reigns and goes after Angle all around the car would have still worked. He made an obvious distraction ('you trashed my car I'll trash yours') and made the escape. I think it was alot better to have Eddie trash the car then chase after the SUV Luter and Krut were driving away in. Unless his firely Latino temper could make him run faster than a car. Actually, it would have been ALOT better if they stopped making this feud about cars and kept it on the WWE title. So far, Kurt has cost eddie the felt twice, an act that Eddie is more or less indifferent to. But when Kurt pours paint on his car, he loses it to the point where he wants to kick Kurt's ass. But when he gets that opportunity, he gives it up so Eddie can trash "Kurt's" car. Eddie is coming off as a guy who can't even come close to getting his priorities straight.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 AS knows that ALL Latinos have fiery tempers, JRE. Yes, I'm now a racist. The word's "Eddie's a firey Latino" have never been uttered on WWE television. Lord knows they've never run an angle where his temper got the best of him.
Guest Quik Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Of course Eddy has a fiery Latino temper. Just ask some of the fans in the audience. ZING~!

His title reign was like a Flair run in the NWA condensed to 3 months and without actual wins over top talent to get him over first. Yeah, I agree with this. Jericho was just an afterthought, which funny enough, Jericho would point out many times in his promos. Not that it changed anything.... He might have been booked as a loser, but not a bumbling idiot.
Guest JRE Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 "He was more than happy to sit around and do nothing to a guy he now could legally rip apart?" He got the match he wanted. Eddie obviously has patience (after all, he's willing to put going after the title off to get revenge on Kurt). "Lesnar, Angle and Bradshaw all took advantage (or tried to ) losing his temper in their feuds this year." A weakness in Eddie. For one- you're still seeing Eddie as a one-sided character. And you're seeing Eddie as totally vunerable...he is a veteran. Surely if he's been taken advantage of for his temper he's learned from it. He can run after Kurt all he wants but he'd just be in a trap because of Reigns. "Well, Ideally, he would have set some kind of trap with Luther out there. But Eddie being so pissed that he dispatches of Reigns and goes after Angle all around the car would have still worked." You're rebooking the entire angle for the show. There was obviously other reasons for the segment- like making Theordore Long upset enough to book the 2/3 falls match and Orlando/Taker for the Title. In essence the angle the WWE used for tonight's show was better because the booking was tighter- it affected more than one feud. "Actually, it would have been ALOT better if they stopped making this feud about cars and kept it on the WWE title." I didn't know there were cars feuding. Both men can be harmed physically and mentally. The feud has moved on to a personal feud and not a title feud in it's current state- otherwise they'd be going after Taker or JBL. Having The title was a catalyst for the feud- right now..."winning" the feud has nothing to do with winning the title, it's about revenge. Revenge, yes, for losing the title- but if the focus of the feud was the title then there would be #1 contender matches in this thing. Of course...realistically every wrestlers goal in every feud is to move closer to the title....but that detroys the purpose of having focused storylines entirely....but that's just ramblin'
