Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2004 Warner Home Video has announced two new DVD animated collections to reach stores on Dec. 7: Superman: The Animated Series Vol. 1 and Batman: The Animated Series Vol. 2. Here's how Warner describes the Superman DVD: "Your spirits will soar with this 2-disc/18-episode set from the popular TV series! Portraying the man and hero as human while keeping the comic-book action at full speed, each animated adventure is a fast-paced spellbinder. Beginning with his arrival on Earth, Superman finds his place in his adopted home and accepts his role as its champion -- facing mortal enemy Lex Luthor and countless other criminals like the Weather Wizard and the Toyman. High-flying excitement, boundless thrills and revealing Exclusive Extras collide in this superior collection about the dynamic hero that inspires us all to strive for truth and justice." Look for audio commentary on "The Last Son Of Krypton Part 1", "Stolen Memories", "The Main Man Part" and "Tools of the Trade" by producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, directors Dan Riba and Curt Geda and art director Glen Murakami. Featurettes include Superman: Learning to Fly, exploring the creation of Superman: The Animated Series, including interviews with talent, creators and DC Comics}; Building the Mythology: Superman's Supporting Cast, a featurette focusing on the supporting cast of Superman including Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Jonathan and Martha Kent Here's how Warner describes the Batman DVD: "Fight crime day and night alongside the Dark Knight with this deluxe 4-disc set packed with 28 heroic adventures from the acclaimed series! Filled with gripping plots, multidimensional characters and superb voice talent, this Emmy-winning series has defined Batman for legions of fans. Enjoy amazing encounters with Catwoman, duels with the Penguin, contests with the Riddler and of course, battles of wit with the Joker - plus Exclusive Extras from the minds that conceived this cutting-edge version of the classic hero! Grab your cape and swing into action with this quintessential Batman compilation" Great News, although I was hoping that they would release Superman:TAS in only two volumes, but I guess they decided to go with 3 sets with 18 episodes each since the show had 54 episodes. ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2004 Where are they going to put "World's Finest" if they put it on the DVDs? Superman's Set or Batman's Set?
Guest JMA Report post Posted August 27, 2004 This is just pure awesomness. I'll definitely be getting both of these volumes. While I'm on the subject, I really wish Superman: The Animated Series had gotten a longer run of the air. There was so much more that could've been done. Luckily, we still have Justice League Unlimited.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2004 Where are they going to put "World's Finest" if they put it on the DVDs? Superman's Set or Batman's Set? It should be on the Superman:TAS sets, most likely Vol 2 since "World's Finest" is listed on the Superman episode guide

It should be on the Superman:TAS sets, most likely Vol 2 since "World's Finest" is listed on the Superman episode guide I believe that "World's Finest" was also released on a standalone DVD, which probably works better for me since I'm not a huge fan of Big Blue... dubq 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2004 Daaaaaamn! Wonder why? Hopefully it means they're adding more features. If there's nothing being added, than WTF?
Soja 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 What? No Baby Doll??? And where is Scarface? They're following production order on these, 'cept when it comes to two-parters. Ex: Harley & Ivy is last in line for this set at #556. Shadow of the Bat Parts I and II (#557/#561) will probably start off the next. Read My Lips - the introduction ep of the Ventriloquist & Mr. Scarface - is #564. It's possible Baby-Doll may not make the cut until we get around the fourth collection; it's marked as #576. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 THIS SOOOOOO RULES! DO YOU REMEMBER WB? DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN WE SAID "BOX SETS" AND YOU SAID "THAT WILL NEVER SELL"? WE TOLD JOO! WE TOLD JOO! Sorry... didn't mean to shout. Come on, WB is just trusting their experience and business sense. They were right about Catwo--oh right. I'm very glad the Batman TAS set sold very well. Although, I have my doubts about the new animated series for Batman they're working on ("The Batman"; Zsasz--any non-IMDb info you can find on that, we'd appreciate it. Going by IMDb, having a Frank Miller-looking Bats but voice actors who worked on the old 60's show--it makes no sense at all to me.) *sigh* Big disappointment about the delay, but does that mean that the sets will be close to the release of Begins? All I've heard about the Begins release date is 2005, not early, mid, 3rd quarter--nothing. So maybe I missed updates about it. The Man Who Killed Batman Did they actually air this one more than once? Most of the other shows I remembered very well, but I don't recall this airing much at all. Maybe "Killed" in the title was considered a bit much (yeah, I know, kinda silly, but I've heard sillier with censorship practices. Plus, they could have just changed the title card in that case. Maybe there was some dialogue too that would have needed changed and they didn't want to do that.

I haven't heard anything about it, but it's probably a lock for "blockbuster movie" season. If I were to guess... maybe July? Star Wars is due out in May, right?
