AmazingRen 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Go to the website ddtdigest.com. It shows reports and results of WCW shows going back to 1996. Try to read all the shows that has Jarrett in them. He gets slammed in alot of them. Here is one from 1996: WCW {Pro} Wrestling - Sunday, 10/27/96 Harlem Heat sans Sherri and Parker def. Rough and Ready via pinfall when Mike Enos was pinned immediately after a Harlem Hangover. Diamond Dallas Page def. Chavo Guerrero Jr. via pinfall following a diamond cutter. Arn Anderson gave an interview where he said he was going to end Luger's career at Halloween Havoc. We can only hope. Sullivan, Meng, Barbarian, and Big Bubba def. four jobbers who the announcers didn't even name via pinfall after Bubba's side slam. Maxx Muscle must be hurt because he always comes to the ring but never wrestles. Jeff Jarrett was interviewed. I don't get what the attraction is with this guy. Neither do the other fans, I guess, since he was roundly booed on his first appearance on Nitro. I hope he gets chokeslammed tonight. "Lionheart" Chris Jericho def. Manny Fernandez via pinfall with a somersault from the second rope. Ice Train defeated Scott Norton via pinfall with a rollup when Teddy Long distracted Norton. This was a first for Teddy Long, causing one of his men to win rather than lose. Now the reason I made this topic is except for him saying J-E-F-F J-A-R-R-E-T-T and cutting his hair nothing has changed. He's still the same ol' Rick Flair wannabe that thinks caring a guitar still makes him cool. He's still an average wrestler with average mic skills that can't even sell out a mostly free crowd in his own home state. The only reason he was semi-over in the WWF was that he had cheap heat (Debra). In WCW the only reason he was champion was because Russo is his buddy and the only reason he's been the champion and buries people in TNA is because he's the co-owner and part writer. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Duh. Jarrett's only big time period of actual interest came from a cheap women-abusing angle.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Duh. Jarrett's only big time period of actual interest came from a cheap women-abusing angle. Heck, I thought Chyna carried him in those matches. -=Mike ...And I friggin' can't stand Chyna...
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Glad to see I'm not the only one who never thought Jarrett was anything special. Only thing hes done that was awesome was smashing a guitar over Ahmed Johnsons head from the top rope at the 1996 Rumble PPV.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2004 I really liked his SummerSlam match vs. D'Lo Brown and the ladder match vs. Benoit. I enjoyed his WCW run. Haven't been a fan of him since, though. Puts himself over too much (I know I'm stating the obvious there, but it's true.).
Guest traveshamockery Report post Posted September 4, 2004 I've always enjoyed Jarrett's work to a degree. He's never been one of my favorite wrestlers, and I don't think that I've ever been overly excited about seeing one of his matches. Still I find myself more entertained by him than a good number of workers past and present. With that said, I've never been able to see him as a main eventer. Magus 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2004 The only glory JJ got was through politics. The only great matches he had were through superior workers. And he's always had to latch onto others for heat. All that and he's a shitty writer and promoter. Look at it this way: if Bob Holly left WWE and started his own little fed, then booked himself as the star attraction and made superior talents look like shit by losing to him in really lame angles and horrible matches, you'd have... TNA.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 4, 2004 I've never really had a problem with Jarrett. He's a fairly bland and mostly boring worker but hardly offensive until his second NWA Title run. Though I think getting his hair cut by X-Pac at Summerslam 98 was probably the best thing to happen to his career and gimmick.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2004 Mad Dog, I will wholeheartedly agree. I actually marked for Jarrett pretty hard in the beginning of TNA, as well as in WCW, because as the pissed off redneck heel? He works great. Also, him using a chair and getting into a brawl with the Tennessee Titans is CLASSIC.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 5, 2004 Was that whole tging planned with the Tennessee Titans? Looked kinda over the top for an end of show "attack real athletes" scenario.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2004 Was that whole tging planned with the Tennessee Titans? Looked kinda over the top for an end of show "attack real athletes" scenario. The story I heard was that the Titans jumping the rail was not planned.
what 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2004 I liked Country Music Star Jeff Jarrett but ever since then, he's fucking sucked.

BUTT 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2004 Is there any reason for us to believe the boos weren't for his character instead of the person? Yes. He was brought in as a face, although it was hinted that he might be an nWo member.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 I've always hated Jarrett the character, though like some, I actually liked his early TNA work. It's after Raven got screwed that I started to really hate him. But yeah, most of his "national" work has been less than stellar.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 7, 2004 I really liked Jarrett through his first title run. His growing insanity during the first few months as he was trying everything to get a title shot but always failing. I only wish Steamboat could've stayed longer to continue to screw with Jarrett. Guest Loss Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Jarrett was actually really good when he was really young. He peaked between 1986-1989. His feud with Pat Tanaka in Memphis in 1987 is probably *the* most overlooked good feud ever. All of the matches were quite good. His best work since has been against far superior workers in Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit.

I don't get it, but people do and have for years. Was JJ good at one point? Yeah, he was decent enough. However, he was never that good. -=Mike
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Thing is, Loss, people have lower standards for regional feds. I don't get it, but people do and have for years. Smaller talent pool. Guys in regional feds didn't have to be measured against every worker in the world, only in their territory. I've seen a good bit of Jarrett's work in his early days, and while he was small and able to get around the ring a little better, I still say his best days were in the dying days of WCW
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Honestly, I think JJ's best days were 94-95 WWF. He was going back in forth in feuds at the time with Hall, Michaels, Diesel etc., and that was probably the part of his career where his ring work was the best. I know his match against Michaels from IYH was considered his best match and that Michaels is the reason for it. But his work against Razor was always up to par and he carried Diesel plain and simple. It always seems to me like he started slipping a bit during and after his very first WCW stint and continually got worse from there.
Guest Loss Report post Posted September 7, 2004 He and Benoit had some nifty matches in the first WCW stint. It was cool to see a total Southern-style heel against the can-do-anything Benoit on a national level. I wouldn't call any of the matches great or anything, but all of them were fun as Hell. Jeff Jarrett is largely an average worker. I wouldn't call him bad or anything, nor would I call him consistently good. But he has had his moments.

I think the best way to put it Loss, is that Jarrett has been putting on ***- matches for years.......nothing better.
Guest Loss Report post Posted September 7, 2004 You won't find me disagreeing with that. No one is arguing that he is a great worker. I like *** matches. Don't you?
