JN News 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 What was the whole plotline of the movie? I know that Freddy Krueger comes to life in the movie. But how did it happen?
Guest ally mccoist Report post Posted September 7, 2004 I haven't watched this for ages, so this is from my crap memory: Its set in real life with the actors and actresses from the first Nightmare film playing themselves (i.e. Nancy from the first film plays herself the actress in this film). Nancy the actress starts dreaming about Freddy. Of course in this world Freddy is only a movie character, so its nothing to sweat about. But I guess the dreams get worse and seem more real to her, something like that. She asks other actors from the first movie like Robert Englund about it and if they ever had dreams about Freddy. From there it turns into any other Nightmare film with Nancy the actress having to kill Freddy. The plot also involves something with her son as well. Probably Freddy tries to take over the kid. Not the greatest explanation, but thats all I can remember. I suppose its a refreshing take on the series and on horror movies in general. It was ok when I first saw it some 5 years ago. Worth checking out if you like the franchise and its a decent enough horror film in its own right.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted September 7, 2004 The kid who plays Nancy's son is fucking freaky. I find horror movies more entertaining than scary and that kid scared the shit out of me.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Asking why Freddy comes to life in that movie is like asking any number of questions about horror movies. It just happens. That said, I love New Nightmare, one of my favorites.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Yeah, it's generally not wise to seek scientific explanations in horror movies. We are, after all, discussing an undead dream demon...
dutchse.cx 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 I'm not sure, but I think the whole thing was some demon from hell knew about the Freddy movies and thought "Hey, that's a good idea."
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 yeah pretty much some kind of demon took the form of Freddy or something like it.
Guest JMA Report post Posted September 7, 2004 Basically, there was this evil entity (call it a demon if you wish) they wanted to manifest in the real world. However, this entity has a weakness: it can be trapped in the confines of fiction (i.e. the NOES movies). When the studio stopped making NOES movies, the entity was released in Freddy's form and with his personality. However, Heather Langenkamp, the actress who played Nancy in the original NOES, is the gatekeeper, the one who has to stop the entity from fully manifesting on our plane of existence. She's the gatekeeper because she, as Nancy, was the first one to defeat Freddy. I hope that information helps.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted September 7, 2004 JMA is pretty close. An ancient evil entity is capable of being trapped by storytellers. Wes began writing the original movies from nightmares he had, and it ended up trapping the entity in Freddy form. Unfortunately, the entity LIKED being Freddy so much that when it decided to cross over, it decided to do so as Freddy. The rest is correct. It's my favorite horror movie. Ever.
